Napoli: Hamsik Not For Sale
Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis has made it perfectly clear to both Juventus and Inter that midfield sensation Marek Hamsik is not for sale at any price.
Hamsik joined Napoli last year from Serie B side Brescia and was absolutely magnificent in his first season in the top flight.
The 20-year-old was a virtual ever-present at the heart of the Partenopei midfield, scoring nine goals in 37 Serie A games, and was named in Goal.com’s Serie A Team of the Year.
Hamsik is widely regarded as one of the best young midfielders in Europe, with a host of big teams in Europe interested in him, including Chelsea, Manchester United, Juventus and Inter. It is reported that Napoli recently rejected a mammoth €28m offer for the player, but despite the fact the youngster has just signed a new contract until 2013, speculation is still rife that Juve and Inter are weighing up bids.
Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis has once again made it perfectly clear that there is no chance of them letting the Slovakian leave.
“We have said unequivocally that Hamsik is a player we are building the future of the club around," he told Radio Marte.
“I can assure you that Marek won’t be going anywhere and I have always said that."
Napoli are constructing an exciting young team, and they are expected to challenge for a Champions League place within the next two or three years.
