I cant decide who's the bigger nutjob.
:howler: Ha, yeah..

Effenberg had some very good years in his second Bayern period. He has had a good share in the CL title 2001, but that's all in my opinion.

The last great German midfielder as K4 said? Definitely not.

Who is? I'm sure you know Effenberg better than I. Maybe I'm lucky, but always that I saw him, he was a true leader on the pitch and something great to watch.

As Culéd suggests, Ballack is NOTHING compared to Effenberg, IMO.

Hm, let's judge his career after he has retired. ;) If he can progress he may get his place in that list.

But I would say Matthias Sammer. He was the last great midfield strategist in the German NT. His playing during the Euro 1996 was simply class. So sad that he had to quit football a few years too early due to his knee problems.

Effenberg was a great leader for the Bayern team, yes, during his second period. But not for the NT. And in my eyes he wasn't that good for the other teams (Gladbach, his first Bayern time and Fiorentina) as Sammer was. Sammer was amazing in the NT, for Dortmund and for Stuttgart. But I know that the Bayern fans here may disagree with me about Effenberg. ;)

Sammer was special too. Here I agree with you.

I agree about Sammer but here we are talking about Kaiser Football,Midfield Organization and Discipline.

Effenberg was definitely the last one of the kind.I dont know about NT,he had problems with the NT since USA 94 and never played again. But for Bayern Munich he was sheer class.

Ballack is not like Schuster,Mathaus,Frings,Effenberg,Sammer etc.He plays way too forward and is not an organizing CM in anyway.
If Ballack wasn't a CM what did you consider him?

And Matthaeus and Sammer weren't your typical CM's either.

If it comes to midfield organisation you can see Ballacks deficit. That's the point he has to improve.

Maybe not currently,it obvious that he's struggling with Chelsea but his years with Bayer and Bayern he surely was.
