Thanks for the link Nepoznat, that's really cool to discover it but on ebay I saw it and I prefer to see this on some girls during the World Cup! :D

The game in manaus will be tough for your team is very hot and warm there and the cameroon players aré more suited to play in this kind of weather.

Croatia really needs to keep the possesion in this game, this is the best way to play otherwise they will die at hall time.

This is a good point

our camp is in Bad Tatzmannsdorf, where our NT will apperantly have special rooms which are exactly the same temperature and humidity that the venues of the games will gave. Now how much this will help is questionable but at least our management is aware of the situation and that other teams are better suited to this kind of weather than us, so at least it's a step in the right direction.

We should also have a couple friendlies in Brazil just before the tourney starts, at least with lower league sides to get us accustomed to this aspect of the tourney.

Congratulations to Fifa for awarding the World Cup to countries that are geographically incapable of hosting world cups due to extreme humidity or heat such as Brazil or Qatar -what a bunch of muppets - Sepp Blatter you freaking idiot! The fact that its such a rare tournament (every 4 years) and then they ruin it by giving it to countries whose climate is really making an impact on the overall result is a SHAMBLES!

I actually don't mind Brazil, but Manaus may have been a bad choice there... but you are right that Qatar makes ZERO sense (other than $$$ for FIFA or it's management... only way I can see them choosing Qatar)

Yeah, but they should have stuck to venues/locations that aren't based in the jungle where players will be exposed to huge physical challenges from the humidity more than the temperature, the last thing we want to see is a player dying in a WC match but FIFA seems to determined to continue with their "spectacle" strategy of awarding these WC's to the most unsuited places! :shakepalm:

yeah Manaus was a mistake, they don't even have a team in the top Brazillian league I don't think! like you said they just wanted to showcase the Amazon somehow for the spectacle of it!

as for the player dying, that depends on if it was a player on our opposing team or on our team! :flirt:

It seems FIFA are determined to push their plans to showcase their tourney to whomever and whatever place, in order to make a buck.

No matter how many construction workers lives it costs...

Sure the construction workers dying is a tragedy but surely not one that FIFA is responsible for?

No, Fifa aren't responsible for that - that's just the laid back Brazilian's who can't get things finished on time and the putting extra pressure on the poor workers- same thing applies to their Olympic games bid-way behind schedule according to latest news.

Agree and Disagree... it's political and the political giant here is FIFA.

If FIFA had no say in the plans then they are not responsible... but we know they have their dirty hands in everything... and because they are shifty and shady and things are not transparent... it creates a mistrust - and voila - you have a dynamic that is unhealthy.

FIFA is not directly to blame - but don't think for a second their influence doesn't filter down and affect the architects, construction owners, management, foremans, all the way down to the labourers.

Exactly petro..

Are you kidding me Blast?

Putting the tourney they knew needed practically 12 new stadiums? Avoiding places that are practically ready like, I dunno...the USA?

They're forcing these tournaments on countries that can't support them, yet...and look at what happens.

You know what Ero.

Another astute point made.

Seriously, that's what it's all about on this one. Same with what the IOC did and now Brazil is going to be in worse shape than what Greece was before their Olympics.

I can't believe these types of people actually get to run anything in life, but it happens more often than it should be allowed.

This is just sick, read this.

"Background

On 7 March 2003, the world football body FIFA announced that the tournament would be held in South America for the first time since Argentina hosted the 1978 FIFA World Cup, in line with its policy of rotating the right to host the World Cup amongst different confederations. On 3 June 2003, CONMEBOL announced that Argentina, Brazil, and Colombia wanted to host the 2014 World Cup finals.[1] By 17 March 2004, the CONMEBOL associations had voted unanimously to adopt Brazil as their sole candidate.[2] Brazil formally declared its candidacy in December 2006 and Colombia did so as well a few days later. The Argentina bid never materialized. On 11 April 2007, Colombia officially withdrew its bid making Brazil the only official candidate to host the event in 2014.[3]
Brazil bid

Brazil who eventually won the hosting rights for the 2014 FIFA World Cup were the only remaining official candidate after Colombia withdrew its bid on 11 April 2007. The Brazilian bid was officially launched on 13 December 2006[4] by Ricardo Teixeira, then president of the Brazilian Football Confederation, who signed the letter of candidacy in Tokyo in the presence of CONMEBOL president Nicolas Leoz and CONMEBOL general secretary Eduardo De Luca.

FIFA president Sepp Blatter stated on 4 July 2006 that the 2014 World Cup would probably be held in the country, though he acknowledged in earlier comments that the country did not have any stadia ready for the Cup at the moment. On 28 September he met with the Brazilian President Lula and was quoted as saying he wants the country to prove its capabilities before making a decision. "But the ball is on Brazil's court now," he said.[5] In September 2006, Brazil President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva confirmed Blatter's opinion, declaring: "We don’t have any stadium which is in a condition to host World Cup games. We’re going to have to build at least 12 new stadiums in this country.”

Potential host cities are already preparing for the tournament. CBF and government officials have toured many cities and stadia in the latest months, and 18 states have applied to host World Cup matches. However, the actual number of host cities is expected to be much lower, as FIFA stipulates a minimum of eight and a maximum of ten.

On 31 July 2007, Brazil's bid became official, when the Brazilian Football Confederation president, Ricardo Teixeira, delivered personally to FIFA president, Sepp Blatter, a document containing Brazil's hosting stadia and other required information concerning plans in improvements for general infrastructure and about finances, though more details about this document are unknown.[6]

Early in that day, a list of stadia selected was published by Brazilian media. At least 21 cities were considered initially, but only 18 cities were pre-selected as able to host international football matches. Among the 18 finalist cities, four stadia are under construction or will be built if the right to host is won. The three cities not accepted were Campinas (São Paulo), João Pessoa (Paraíba) and Teresina (Piauí). On 17 August 2007, in a meeting between CBF officials and representatives from the 18 cities, Ricardo Teixeira confirmed the names of five host cities, and left the 13 other to fight for the remaining spots.[7] The list below includes the cities selected by the Brazilian Football Confederation to receive the World Cup (the five confirmed cities are mentioned first):"

'More details about this document are unknown'...surprised to hear that from a Blatter run deal?

Also, they arbitrarily gave the tourney to CONMEBOL just because 'they hadn't hosted in a while'...who give a flying '.....' about that? Perhaps it's because their societies are in such a mess they're not in any shape to host.

It's ridiculous to have them build 12 brand new stadia in that time, without the airports, seaports and roadways to support what's coming.

It's just ridiculous and the fact they're rushing the guys on the scaffolds to make up for this fiasco is just a travesty.
