I still believe R9 in his prime was a better player. Simply, because R9 in his prime was an unstoppable machine. Without a shadow of a doubt, IL FENOMENO was more lethal and a bigger threat! R9 was also a match winner, beyond dominant.
Messi is an extremely gifted player, he does so many things so well. La Pulga is a better scorer than Zidane, arguably a better dribbler. BUT he's not a big match player :eekani:. Messi seems to suffer from international stage fright and has failed miserably time after time. In addition, he's not the type of player who can pull all the strings, makes the team play/influences a team - at least not the same way as Zizou. His ability to control the tempo of the game is what made Zizou stand out above all.
Are we dismissing Zizou's achievements?
