he flapped at a couple almost presenting Ireland with an open goal. All it takes is one or 2 of those mistakes and its all over. He cant roll around the floor in mock agony on thursday either as he cant afford to waste a second. Iran will be a different team in Tehran if course but 2 nill is a good advantage especially with no away goals.

Iran can play football, we all could see that after Ireland scored the second goal. I'll admit your keeper is good. but he's such a winger, for phuck sake, he goes down like a sack of potatoes if he's touched. I think Ireland will play Connolly or Morrison in Tehran. If we score, you guys are out. It looks good for us, and by the way Given saved those shots, and got man of the match. Iran had two or three great chances, but Given was on top form as usual(Best keeper in EPL at the moment). You shouldn't come to Dublin looking for a good result, as only the top 5 or 6 teams in the world will get something from us. Teams such as Portugal and France would get a draw maybe. But really if we beat Holland surey you know we're gonna beat Iran and the like. It'll be different in Tehran, but I think we'll go thru as long as we don't let in a silly goal in the first 20 mins.

Not much to say really, dreadful game. Iran were pretty useless, but were made to look competent by the atrocious Irish attack.
I didn't see a single cross hit its target from us, and any time we had an opportunity to go for goal we fudged it, delaying too long and not heading straight goalwards.
The Iranian goalkeeper was a complete arsehole, I hope he wasn't the first choice, cause he was very shaky in the air and seriously, seriously annoying writhing in agony every time he hit the ground. What a poof!
Lot of work yet to be done, would like to see an early goal
in Teheran to finish it off, but we need to play more ground football, as we'll have no target man for Thursday. It's on at
a lousy time too.

So much for the Bahraini's feigning injury - is that where Iran's goalkeeper got his acting lessons?

Wont be much work done in this country on thursday!! Agree on the tactics needing a change. Too many long balls on saturday which was annoying. We miss the Duffer. Roy Keane went AWOL in the second half so I dont think his absence is as disastrous as it usually is. Picked up 66 lids from the bookies anyway on Harte scoring first. Trigger to get the first one on thursday I reckon

First of all, Mirzapoor was almost hit everytime there was a cross by a bunch of so-called proffessional EPL players.

Go watch what Bahrainis did and then open your big mouth. Almost all of their 11 players wasted twice the time Mirzapoor wasted. But unfortunately our players aren't losers to do such stuff. They played with all their heart and conceded 2 goals on 2 mistakes.

You booed Mirzapoor, no problem, 110,000 will do the same in return.

As if it was such a big win or something. Only 2 or 3 teams in the world. :dielaugh: Ireland could only create 1 chance in the first half and their defence proved to be shaky at the center.

Whatever Mirzapoor did sure wasn't more annoying and disgusting than what Keane did during and after the game. Period.

Comeon guys, We all saw the game, Let's be fair. Why do you lads think your team made all those useless "high crosses"?? simple answer: Iran made you do It, Only If It wasn't for that PK (Minute 45) :dazed: the Irish had nothing else to offer  ..And BTW, Ireland Is very lucky to be at this stage(So enjoy your luck)..I'm sad to see a good unlucky Holand out of this WC :depress:

I saw the highlites of Ireland and Holand game. It wasn't that the Irish are good, It was just not Holand's day. They missed one chance after another to score that day!!! Kind of like Iran/Bahrain in Tehran..

See you lads In Tehran AKA, Hell :)

yeah we're useless and have the results to prove it!! A lucky team gets beaten every so often. ireland have'nt lost a competitive game of football since the game in Croatia 2 or 3 years ago. No luck involved. 2-0 is good reult as it keeps us on our toes and will make us concentrate. Iran seem to be yet another bunch who whinge and moan and belittle us even after we've sent them home with their tail between their legs. Sad really although it helps us to know all teams believe we're crap.

11 jan, akharin charandeh Ciro ro shenidi?

Iran is the best in Asia, Ireland is the best in Europe, Asia is bigger than Europe, so Iran is stronger than Ireland. Idiot.

Minavand ham gofteh Ireland ali asghari bazi mikoneh. :D

OSF, can you tell me what my moron countryman, mry, said in the Away From Soccer forum?

well ye can talk the talk I'll give you that. Some hell though. Loads of locals came out to the aiport to give our lads a warm welcome. Fair play.

There's been lots of talk of this crowd size on thursday. Our fellas play in front of hostile crowds all the time and are far too experienced to freeze in front of a big noisy crowd.

Ah sure it's only half-time, you can't expect the opposition to admit defeat yet, it would be abnormal to admit that Iran spent the first hour or so camped in their own half hoofing balls out of the defence any which way, after all when Ireland used to do it under Charlton it was heroic defending :D
Let's just hope it's a more entertaining spectacle on Thursday, and the best team wins. The team that's 2-0 up that is :)
Why are Iran 11 lions? Are there lions in Iran?

He injured HIMSELF more often than not, landing on his arse and holding his hip like a woman two weeks short of labour.
