Ok we've missed out on Cannavaro and most or probably all of us are so Pi##ED off, well what do you expect be serious does the management expect us to do well in Europe with Duds like Chamot and Helveg let's be serious these are'nt Milan players,And where are the additions to our defense whats the point I see us going out to snap up midfielders and forwards but what about defenders.
Maldini is coming to his end Kaladze and Simic have potential Yet Roque Junior and Laursen have question marks over their heads.
As far as Im concerned it will be a similar story next season sorry to sound cynical but Im being realistic.

Rivaldo is a surplus to the team. Although is a good that we have more alternative upfront but our defnce is a must to be reinforce yet we have did nothing. Simic comes in to replace Costacurta. so we have really improve on our defence. I would rate Costacurta as a better player than Simic. We loan Colo out and Coco was sold, In fact our defence has change much from last season. We have a bad field day on our defence last season, The least I have expect is to bring Colo back and keep Coco to boost our badly shaped defence. Instead we bring in Simic and stop short from there. Simic alone is not enough to bring Milan titles!!!!!!!! Another World Class defender will!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dude a WC defender wont guarantee usa a title.

good teamwork andus defending as a team will, aswell as a coach who knows what to do with this team which Carletto might be and then again might not be.

the defence doesnt suck, its just not as good as other top teams so i think we start to feel vulnerable because of it. laursen-simic can be a good central duo, they have the potential and once they settle, i think theyll do well.

sure, juve and inter have far superior defensive options when you analyze player for player, but i would not say our defence is weak.

Oh well..... :)

If we are not going to get any other defender, I suggest Ancelotti starts thinking of alternatives and rely more heavily on the superb offensive qualities we have on the squad.

Everybody is saying that Italian football needs a change in the tactical mindset. So, I say Milan can be the forerunner in this wonderful reformation by start playing some offense and put aside the mediocre defense.

It's about time for Serie-A to produce a Real Madrid type of team, score more goals than you can concede.

Perhaps we will havr to take on that new philosophy score more than you concede,Not that I like that theory but for all those fans who have been crying out for a more attack minded Milan here you are.

Had we had Zac or Terim it would be possible but ANCELOTTI is MR DEFENCE!

He was, and will be....barring a divine intervention...:hopefull:

Don't worry Lav. He has been taking summer courses on attacking football from Berlusconi. So we might see how good he has been studying all summer.

We can't really hope for our defense to be our key factor this season, can we? :)

So, I guess, we can only hope for the offense and I surely hope Ancelotti will also think the same way.

when you can't count on the individuals, count on the team. if ancelotti can well manage the defenders together. that won't be bad.

maldini is old, but he is still good enough to depend on. the others are not super, but anyway, they are still national team players. aint' that bad. so, mr. ancelotti, this task is now up to you.

I think this is a good point. Our defense is clearly not the best or even top three in Serie A, but it is not horrible. All our defenders can play pretty well (even RJ, although I seriously question his brain) so I think we can do well. What worries me are injuries to that thin out what is not a very deep defensive core.

The defense is our weak-point, but it will do well if given the right guidance. Even Roque Junior can be reformed. If Felipão and Braida see something in him, he cannot be completely useless.

Kaladze is training as a full-back, so we might see him play on the left instead of Maldini. With Simic in the middle, we'd have a good defensive line with: Kaladze-Laursen-Simic-Contra.

I'd prefer to see:

Helveg-Laursen-Simic-Maldini

or

Simic-Laursen-Maldini-Kaladze

Can't Simic play right back or center back? If not, then put him inside with Laursen or Maldini.

I think Contra is extremely suspect as a defender and our potentially weak back four has to be defensively capable. Contra is not. I fear his offensive skills will be lost simply because they aren't more important than the defensive requirements.

youre right dae, especially this season since theres enough offence to go around.

i dont think simic can play right back very well and its better to put helveg there.

I actually like Helveg as a right back from a purely defensive and tactical standpoint. He plays the position solidly and is a good defender. It's his runs up the flank and his crosses that kind of suck. If Simic isn't a right back (I have seen people talk as if he is) then I agree; put him inside with Laursen or Maldini and let Helveg play.

Tim, what the f*ck kind of back line is that? ;) :D

Maldini says the defense is destined to suffer

At least somebody is being honest. He doesn't say our defense will suck, but given they have not played together as a unit at all, it could be a while before they gel into a cohesive unit. At least somebody is speaking from the heart. No surprise its a man like Maldini. Gotta love the guy. No quit, but he's honest.

about simic, it is only my opinion that he cannot perform well as a right back. i know he has played there at times and has performed decently but i would only play him there when/if we get stuck and need to shuffle the backline. otherwise i would play him in the middle.

about helveg, i agree with your assessment and while he is not the ideal right back, he is our best option and a good option.

What?

I think all of you guys have a point, i think milan defense this year is very weak, Malda is getting old but he is the only good and decent defender that we have in Milan, Laursen li ke some of you said still has ?? in his head:confused: simic is not so great defender kaladze is doing his best but he doesnt have experience and roque junior is a normal defender. Only because he won a world Cup doesent mean that he is a good player, beside most teams are afraid of Brazil so that helps a lot. I want to see roque this year against Crespo Ronaldo Vieri. There you will see the true Roque.

I hope we get a WC defender this year so we could be finally complete.

Forza Milan!!!!!!!!

Lets be serious how is our defence going to stand up to the likes of Trezeguet,Delpiero,Vieri,Recoba,Totti, montella,DiVaio etc.In recent seasons we've seen the mistakes and errors our defence have caused Maldini is'nt getting any younger if he was to come out and bag our back line what would Galiani and co say you have no right to say that and speak your mind or is it an offence to put your side down only to be telling the truth.
Its as simple as the day is long players like Chamot, helveg and Roque Junior just are'nt acceptable yet from last season what real strengths have we added to our defence yes only Simic,But in midfield in comes Dalla Bona and Seedorf and up fron Rivaldo and Tomasson,Im sorry but I dont see much of an improvement.

"Difesa di merda"
