Mostly, yes.

I can see why the owners would want deals and sponsorships with Mickey Mouse, but hearing a higher-up in Roma make a baseball reference in an interview makes me...:yuck:
Well even though they are Americans I believe at least one of the owners actually grew up a Roma fan and have some type of connection to the city. But more importantly they seem very smart and confident in their business model for the club. Until I read that these owners are personally picking the players we buy I have no problem with them making sure people see the Roma logo around the world and them making baseball references.

Americans generally know how to market sports a lot better than most people (in my opinion). Just look how successful their own leagues are domestically and around the world (NFL, NBA). People in Napoli are even walking around wearing sports teams names and Logos....they don't even know what the hell it is. New York yankees comes to mind...

Oh for heavens sake it is the 21st century I thought people who think like that should have been extinct species by now.
What, I have a primitive mindset because I'm worried that one too many abrupt changes may dilute Roma's club culture (the very thing I value most about the club)? :rollani:

What worries me isn't that they're Americans, it's that I get the impression that perhaps only one of them understands that Roma isn't just a 'sports franchise'. Honestly, none of us know a whole lot about the new owners, which is probably where all of my anxiety is coming from. On the rare occasion that the new owners actually do publicly announce something, it sounds very 'foreign' to me. My point wasn't to make a big deal out of this, I was merely curious whether or not anyone else felt the same way.

They're brilliant at marketing, I agree, but I think the MLS is a different story (overall, a disaster).

I got the impression that they are genuinely attracted by Roma and what it represents. I believe that is why they were so interested in the first place. Plus they have experience in sport and are smart enough to let the people they hired do their jobs.

While I might never be convinced of Luis Enrique until we win something I'm quite certain the owners are putting this club in the best possible position to succeed even if they will certainly make mistakes along the way.

I'm not certain of attendance and such for the MLS but I will say they have grown over the years. Calling it a disaster sounds harsh. Being from NYC and growing up watching the Metrostars i've seen it from the start. Admittedly the quality sometimes makes it hard to watch but overall it is a fun experience if you go to a game. So many kids in this country they can and have made a way for themselves even if it will never be a top tier league.

The MLS is still so very new. It is only like 16 or so years old which when compared to how old some European football clubs are is way early in it's infant stage.

I have a yankees jacket and I've never watched a baseball game in my life, good point.

Maybe you're right -- calling it a disaster is harsh (my apologies). TBH, I wasn't really referring to the average attendance or quality of football -- I just think the system in which the league operates is a bit ridiculous.

Here's a short article explaining what I mean by that.

I wish only the best to American footy (I live in the USA, after all), but I'm fairly certain a lot of raw talent (especially from the youth) is squandered with the current system in place.

Anyway, back to Roma. Sorry for the off-topic rant, guys.

I think there is a limited number of fans here to be had, as most already support baseball, football or if they do follow soccer it's the EPL or Milan/Juve. We should try to appeal to new fans all over, not just limit it to the east coast.
Anyhow, I've always wondered why Europeans hate baseball so much.

Side note: I don't think MLS is a failure...they have added 3 Canadian teams in the last 5 yrs not to mention 2 other teams from the USA. Some how Toronto manages to sell out every single game..

Also spotted an Oakland As hat on the bus last night.

Snoop Dogg is gonna be 'pippin' a Totti jersey in his next vid.

I will probably go to the July 22 game in Chicago as it will be great to see a serie a side live and ive had a soft spot for Roma.

Of course I am a milan fan first and foremost, but Ive always respected Roma as a team. This will be the second serie a team that I see live as I saw Levski- Chievo CL qualifier after calcipoli.

Of course I want to see Milan live, but I have not had the chance yet, but I will be going to this game given that it is happening in my city. Any more info on the game will be greatly appreciated. I have a buddy who supports Real and Roma so he may be interested as well.

Apparently the tickets for the game against Liverpool go on sale from 28th April according to the official website
