Zeljo lost 7-0!!! in the 2nd leg..from the start the game was a disaster. (they scored in the 1st minute)
:yuck:  :(

Modrica lost too, 3-0 in the 2nd leg, but thats no surprise.

Our football wont improve untill the NT starts getting some success and we start getting more better outside players as well, to make the BIH league more competetive. As they say, if you play against the best, you become the best. Since our NT has not had success yet, players dont look at BIH league as a possible place to play.

Everybody wants to go to the EPL, because the money is there, its well known, and in turn, it does a huge favour to the development of the English players, since they get to play against the best players around the world.

Obviously, we wouldn't get the best players around the world, but even fairly better players will improve the development of our home league, and maybe enough to have some success in CL or Uefa, which will earn some money for the clubs to get even better players.

And we develop a good share of good players, the problem is, if they are any good, they would never play in the BIH league.

It all starts with the NT though.

To improve BIH football on club level and on NT level Bosnia should try so hard that they blow, because if a Bosnian team makes it to the Champions League Group-games they will get a lots of money to buy players and players from others NT will look up to maybe play for a bosnian topclub;) like this the players that plays will be better trained and the BiH NT will have good players internationally and good players playing hard matches in the bosnian league.

Croatia have talented players, as well as Bosnia, the trouble is keeping them in the league. Its hard to keep these talented players in the league when often they don't get paid for weeks, they play in front of at most 3,000 on a good day and the clubs have corruption in them. Also many of these players would rather go to Russia/Ukraine or some other obscure league where they will be paid guarenteed.

Can anubody explain to me how this happened? Were we playing with 6 players? People rated us before this match, they actually gave us a chance... and then 7:0....
I need to go and find out what the hell happened before i start swearing. Be back soon!!

hehe yea, only problem would be to get there, its actually sad to see teams like Zeljo, 20 years ago they were in semi-finals in UEFA Cup now they cant even qualify.... :(

It would also be good if those bigger sponsors such as Nike and Adidas opend their eyes for bosnian football.
Zeljo was in the semifinal of Champions League.

DJ, you might want to double check that (I would if I knew where) coz I'm sure Zeljo played in the semis of the UEFA cup, where they got knocked out by Videoton I think.
Could be wrong, though.

red star, you are right. it was uefa cup 84/85 semifinals and zeljo lost to hungarian club videoton by 4:3 on aggregate i think. i'm sure that uefa has it on their website.
but that's history, present is not so bright :frownani:
so what do you poeple think zeljo will do now, new coach? some new players? who is gonna be fired?
i think they are gonna continue like nothing happened, unfortunatly

its not that they have small interest, its because UEFA makes it so hard for EE clubs rather than English, Italian, German etc.. clubs. A Bosnian team would need to win six matches, or three rounds of qualifiers to enter the CL, or two rounds of qualifiers to enter UEFA Cup. Heck Milwall entered the UEFA Cup without qualifying and they don't even play in the Premiership.

But UEFA doesn't get the same kind of money when an EE team reaches the big leagues. That's why they have these rankings, seedings etc, to keep us the way we are, poor and dependent of money from the west.

Bad luck last night with the results guys. But looking at it from the bright side, things can only get better from here on.

How do they (UEFA) decide whos in final tournament anyway. Its not really nice letting the more crappy teams with less money qualify while the big/better clubs already got a spot....
coefficiant points...you get a certain amount of points for a win and draw in Europe. The higher your points the more in teams in Europe you enter and possibly more than one in CL. Croatia used to bring 2 Intertoto, 3 UEFA 1 CL but this season we got one less UEFA Cup spot and both of those teams had to qualify so its dropping
