We've got an important game coming up on Tuesday and lets get to the point - do you think we should keep the same line-up we used in our 4-1 victory against Betis, or do you think we should revert to the usual line-up with Ronaldinho and Deco?

Personally, I think we should keep the squad we used today (but replace Giuly with Messi), because IT WORKED. Ronaldinho and Deco can't play games every single time and Van Bommel and Larsson deserve their minutes. One thing we can't accept is if Ronaldinho and Deco start to complain :nono:

Personally, I would use this line-up:

Valdés; Belletti, Puyol, Oleguer, Sylvinho; Márquez, Xavi, Van Bommel; Messi, Larsson and Eto'o.

And put on the big boys if we start to struggle.

What do you guys think?

Regarding our rivals, they are not in the healthiest of form - they've lost their last 3 matches and their striker, Vincenzo Iaquinta, has been axed after refusing to sign a new contract.

Last 5 games (first being most recent):

Reggina 2-0 Udinese
Udinese 0-1 Juventus
Fiorentina 4-2 Udinese
Udinese 3-0 Panathiaikos
AS Roma 0-1 Udinese
Nevertheless, they are good side that must be shown respect. I'm confident that we'll win, providing we show the right attitude.

Visca el Barça!

Deco and Ronaldinho on the bench is just a temporary thing.

Yes you beat Betis w/o them but you will need them in the long run....
But do you think it's fair on Larsson and Van Bommel who've shown that they can do a good job? I'm just wondering what message it would be sending to rest of the reserve players.

I hope to see this line up...

..............Valdes.............
Oleguer Marquez Puyol Gio
................Xavi..............
.....Van Bommel..Deco......
....................Ronnie.......
Messi.......Eto'o...............

I hope not to see Edmilson is this game.. he should take some time off to think about what he's lacking...

why the hell on earth would you put Oleguer as RB? we lose all attacking width at the right band if he plays. With Belletti we are muck more dangerous there, not to mentione that Belletti is faster than Oleguer.

Yes, Belleti is a better RB, but he:
1. Don't really know how to defend without getting carded.
2. Is inconsistent.
3. He's gonna face Di Natale.. and he is tricky.. (he's like a seasoned version of Iniesta).. very skillful .. good with both legs.. I have noticed his quality for some time. I dunno how can Belleti stop him.

It would be impossible to leave Ronaldinho out of this game bar a last minute injury.
Some of you seems to have a short memory and are already ready to do without him.

About the line-up i would try this one:

------------Valdes----------
Belletti-Puyol-Oleguer-Sylvinho--
-------------Xavi----------
-Van Bommel------Deco---
Messi--------------Ronaldinho
-------------Eto'o----------

I think if Deco has recovered he can come back into the lineup and give Xavi a rest. Ronaldinho should come back as Im sure hell want to perform and start with Messi. Id like the folliwng.

---------------Valdes------------
Belletti--Puyol---Oleguer---Sylvinho
-------------Marquez-------------
-----Van Bommel------Deco---
---Messi--------------Ronaldinho
-------------Eto'o----------

Well definatley have to work on getting a trio of Xavi, Bommel and Deco working though as that way we can work more minutes in with Iniesta also. Perhaps something where Xavi and Deco switch positions from the DMC and LMC as they make less forceful forward runs and have better tackling.

I think Larsson knew from the day he signed that he was never going to be a starter. I agree with Van Bommel though. We'll see what Rijkaard will do against Udinese.

Xavi has improved A LOT his defensive skills. With the right attitude, we could play with the three Xavi, Deco and vBommel. This would be my line-up:

PHP:
-------------V.Valdés------------
Belletti---Puyol-Márquez---Gio vB
-----------Xavi---Deco-----------
-------------vBommel-------------
--Ezquerro---------Ronaldinho----
--------------Eto'o--------------
It's so wonderful on paper.. It's worth a try. Imagine that that midfield works.. we would have by far the best midfield in the world.

Oh wow, what a formation, in my imagination this would work perfectly

I thought van Bommel played awesome against Real Betis, he was all over the pitch making those tackles and stuff, he deserves his place in the starting 11. I would like to see Messi continue what he did when he came on as sub. against Werder Bremen. I think Giuly needs a rest...

I would start Ezquerro. Messi better for the second half so he wouldn't have a big responsibility. If he plays well, he'll get the praise and if he or the team have a bad day, nobody would blame him. For someone of his age I think that's the best option. He has quality enough to be a starter though.

I think Messi can play from the start and he should. He has the pace and the skills to sneak through the Italian defenses and that what Barca needs against Udinese. I doubt Ezquerro have the ability or the skills to do that. He did great against Betis but I think Messi has been rested too long for this game.

if the short guy needs a rest, who should start? Ezquerro or Messi?
Messi for Champs League, Ezquerro for La Liga, Larrson for Copa Del Rey and Giuly for Barca B :) :)

Its the best Formation, it will work so well, we will be unstoppable :D

I totally agree with the first post. As I said on the other thread, I thought the lineup against Betis did very well. I think sticking with Van Bommel is a necessity. I also thought Larsson did well with Eto'o, and Giuly I agree should be replaced, probably with Messi. I'd go along with the lineup in Post #1 100%

I'd like to see more of Eto'o and Larsson cooperation, if they had finished better last night they could have scored 4-5 goals more while the match still was alive. Of course I'd like to see Messi too, and Maxi and Ezquerro and Iniesta .... hmm, we don't lack good forwards, that's for sure. No doubt Ronnie can make miracles but at the moment I think we play more efficient without him, maybe we can save him for CL quarter/semi/final :)

 :horny:  My God what a midfield that would be. And I don't think we'll loose that much in defense. Xavi, Deco and van Bommel all work hard in defense and we shouldn't have any problems. I still would like to se Messi play the full 90 minutes.

Although a bit harsh, this was funny. :D

I think Messi definitely has what it takes to start, but I'm not sure Rijkaard wants to put that much weight on his shoulders. If he'd start, I think he'd be subbed in the 60-70th minute (maybe not 100% match-fit?) and Ezquerro should be the alternative. I'd like to see him alteast get 45mins of action though.

A midfield of Deco-Xavi-Van Bommel could work if all three of them work hard in both ways. I'd get Marquez, Ezquerro or Larsson to head those goal kicks though..
