After the solid dispaly over Bilbao, we host Milan on the return leg of the CL.

As everyone is aware, this is a vital game for Barca to win to defend the CL title and Milan is a team that can change the dynamics very effectively, with a strong attack comprising of Zlatan, Robinho, El Shaarawy and Boateng. Pato is also traveling with the team. We also welcome back Maxi Lopez.

For Barca, we will have to bring our complete focus and intensity, since this is the knock out round and we are aware of the danger posed by Milan. If we play to our strengths of ball possession, pressuring up high and relentless attack, we should be able to emerge victorious. Lady luck smiling on us will help too!

Probable line-up:
Valdes
Alves-Pique-Mascherano-Puyol
Xavi-Busquets-Iniesta
Alexis-Messi-Fabregas

FORÇA BARÇA!

I am convinced we are gonna draw 2-2. No away goal sucks.

Turns out I picked a wrong date to travel, lol. I should be transitting in Doha Airport when the game started, hopefully there's a TV there showing this game. :pp :hopeful:

And let it be Thiago if Xavi couldn't play.

I doubt it. I was there recently, no TV in the airport. Try a lounge or something, they might have one.

Don't know how I feel about this one in all honesty, 0-0 in the first leg was actually a fantastic result for Milan. Given our capabilities, if we go after the game from the start and really rattle them we could quite easily run away with it, but there's just an air of doubt in my mind this time for one reason or another.

I'm praying Xavi makes it and is ready, although this could be Thiago's chance to announce himself well and truly if he gets thrown in from the start.

Actually a very effective player in the right system. Not very effective in Barca's system, but he was very good in the World Cup. Dirty, cynical and very experienced at it.

Haven't seen a lot of him at Milan though. I am not particularly happy about him being injured though, he isn't a difference maker but a part in the machine. A replaceable part IMO.

Van Bommel is indeed key in Milan's system. He has been in great form too since the second half of the season (he was very bad on the first half).

The alternative is Ambrosini. He was outstanding in the first leg against you guys, but he is like 36, he rarely plays more than one game at that level per season, and this will probably be his third game in 7 days.

Usually I am confident of Barca, trust in Pep's formation, our player's skills, the genius of Messi, Xavi and Iniesta, Camp Nou, the home support etc., but this is the first time I am super nervous in a very long time.

Not having a crucial away goal has definitely increased the anxiety. Queasy! It is going to be a long wait before the game starts....

This season Milan averages 2 goal conceded for matches played away form San Siro and only 1.25 goals scored:

Barcelona (2-2)
BATE Borisov (1-1)
Plzen (2-2)
Arsenal (0-3)

Whereas this season Barcelona averages 3.75 goals scored for matches played in Camp Nou and only 0.75 goals conceded:

Milan (2-2)
Plzen (2-0)
BATE Borisov (4-0)
Bayern Leverkusen (7-1)

Even if Xavi couldn't start I think he would be a great impact sub should things go wrong.

I think we have to take as a compliment that a draw vs Barca is hailed as a legendary performance for opposing players, no matter what the context is. Apparently, Milan players put legendary performances last week, and apparently, they did so in group stages at Camp Nou.

This is a strange situation, any Barca (or Barca players') mistake is exaggerated as a big failure, whilst the reverse, a crappy draw or a narrow loss - performance for years to talk about :D

I would like us to play Adriao if fit, BTW. Last week's defense was great, no doubt, put I prefer Puyol at the center. We will lose some defending ability with Adriano-in, Masch-out swap, but I don't want us to be concerned about defense. FULL FORCE ATTACK! :D

I think it will be a nervous night--I feel like we will be ahead but uncomfortably so for the majority of the match.

I remember I had a similar feeling against Arsenal last year after losing 2-1 in London. I felt much more comfortable when the match started in the Camp Nou because the team played with great intensity and created many chances, but as it turned out the match was closer than we would have liked (the own goal, the Bendtner chance at the end, the countless chances we missed). I feel like it might be a similar story tonight.
