This is not a final, but definitely this is the most important game of the season so far, because our future in the Champions League could be decided with the result of this game.

Barcelona are paying the bill of the terrible game in the Camp Nou against the Russians and now we must go for the 3 points against a rival that already showed that can harm our football and against freezing weather of Russia (forecast say that there won't be snow, but the temperature would be around -7ºC).

Our team is being quite irregular, mixing good performances with bad days. But this game is not a joke and we need to win, because the draw would make us lose, not only 2 more points, but also the head-to-head results with the Russians. I don't even consider the defeat a possibility, because this result would complicate our chances a lot.

We need to win no matter how.

ARA MÉS QUE MAI: FORÇA BARÇA!

Good intro K, because besides the quality of Rubin, the November temperature in Kazan is from -5.7 to -1 daily. Nightly, probably around -7.

It will be a delightful match... for Guti, 23 men in leggings. Time to struggle for the rest of us.

Are there less Cule members around here lately?? The osasuna thread is small and this one is short considering the importance of the game....

As soon as Barcelona knew that they will have to travel to Russia and Ukraine for their Champions League first round matches, they requested that Nike provide for them a range of kits that allow players to withstand the low temperatures expected at these venues, reports Catalan paper Sport.

Nike solved the problem with a product that is both comfortable to wear and is able to cope with fifteen degrees below zero temperatures. This undergarment will be part of the player’s kit for this Wednesday’s match against Rubin Kazan.

Called ‘Pro Combat’, it features the latest technological advances in comfort and thermal insulation. Nike will prepare three sets of the kit for each player so they can start using them tomorrow during the first training session in Kazan. Each elastic body-fitting kit consist an under-shirt, knee-length trousers and gloves.

The lightweight three-piece suit is made from a special textile that prevents moisture loss and is lighter and more flexible than any other product on the market. It also has layers of foam to prevent abrasion and shock. The ‘dry fit’ material also lets the user maintain body heat, avoid perspiration and prevent the cold from permeating with the player’s body.

Unlike the uncomfortable leotards, wearing this layer of kit will ensure the players are well protected against the harsh elements and the cold hard playing surface. In any case, as the kit is not compulsory, some players like Puyol may choose to forgo wearing it.

For their part, Rubin players usually utilise less sophisticated home-made remedy to ‘combat’ the cold war. One of the common method used, mostly by the Brazilians, is to put a type of cream on their toes to prevent frostbite. A kind of Vaseline cream is also used to warm their legs while some also resort to wrapping them with plastic wrappers to prevent heat and humidity loss. Those most sensitive to the cold will also resort to a warm broth before they enter the pitch. As goalkeepers exert very little energy in a match, thus creating little body heat, most of them also wear woollen ear muffs to prevent heat loss.

The temperature for Wednesday is forecasted to be between 0°C and -6°C, with strong winds that could produce a chill factor of -10°C.

I'm a bit worried about this game, to be honest. I think it's going to be extremely difficult to get the 3 points, considering the rival and the conditions of the game. Probably, this is a game of heart, so attitude will be the key. Let's hope that our players believe!

Is Henry gonna play? Has he scored at all this season??

Ohh boy do we need a win tomorrow, and damn how difficult it looks to achieve it. Besides the cold, the snow, the igloo's or whatever is out there, we'll be facing a very difficult team to beat whilst our team is still not at their top level. I'm hoping the boys show up tomorrow, but if the game in Donetsk last year is anything to go by, we'll have it though like hell tomorrow.

Do you thínk our players are cold? http://www.fcbarcelona.cat/web/catala/noticies/futbol/temporada09-10/11/n091103107611.html :D

I hope to see our guys playing like that, a bunch of ninjas :D

Its even a bit chilly for Puyol.

What the heck does he have around his head ?

I wouldnt call it BS as trying to play a full football game with minus degrees aint exactly funny when you stop running. What is cool though is that i dont think well see any lazy players tomorrow on the field. I mean if Ronnie or the older dos Santos were with us, theyd probablt get frostbite or sth like that.

And when youre usually butt naked in snow, you get your ass back to sauna after a few minutes :D. And considering the effects of cold weather to human anatomy, the players will grow a pair when they get back to the lockerroom:D

Scary hair:scared:. Puyi is breathing out and it looks like his head is in fog or sth like that.

Ok, seriously this last pic is looking like a real ninja, have NIKE custom made them for us?

I hope we're going to play like that, what a amazing match having 11 guys on the field with masks like that, and the other 11...well their russians so I guess they'll be running in shorts and T-shirts as usual :D

Nah, I don't think we gonna play with that stuff. A headband is the maximum I guess. For sure will will have some long neck stuff though.

But man, that sucks. I've played in the winter outside, don't know how cold it was, maybe 0 to 5 degrees, but that really sucked. I was totally freezing.

A few years back i played in the winter once a week. The temp was usually below 0 but once you start running it was not that bad. In that i agree with Txiki that if the pitch is fine than everything is ok.
