FC Barcelona vs FC Bayern Munich
Camp Nou (Barcelona) | Wed, May 6 | 20:45 CET

Image

After recording one of the biggest away league wins in Spanish league history at the weekend, Barca will now turn its attentions fully onto the highly anticipated semifinal clash in the Champions League with reigning German champions Bayern Munich with the biggest headline of the meeting being Pep Guardiola's return to Camp Nou for the first time as a manager since departing from the Catalan club in 2012.

It will also serve as an opportunity for Barca to avenge the painful 7-0 aggregate defeat in 2013 to the same side who went on to win the treble that season and boost their own hopes of a treble this year in Luis Enrique's first season at the helm of the team. Still a long way to go before such ambitions could actually be realized, but all well within reach as we go into the final month of the campaign.

Whilst Barcelona can enjoy a clean bill of health and be able to call upon all 23 first team members for this game, Bayern on the other hand are facing many problems in the lead up to this meeting. Robben, Badstuber, and Alaba are out for the entire tie whilst there are still concerns over the availability of Ribery and Lewandowski. It's almost an opposite situation for the two teams in comparison to the way both were going into the semifinal games two years ago, form and squad selection wise.

Many were doubtful as to whether or not this Barca could tackle the best in Europe and challenge for the cup with the big ears earlier this year, but things have changed since and many will actually be viewing Barca as the favorites to reach the final in Berlin considering Bayern's current situation. However, there is no doubting that there is still a tough task at hand against a team possessing multiple World Cup winners in their ranks and that it will take a big effort to topple them and make it to the showpiece final in a month's time.

It's the biggest challenge yet of Lucho's reign as Barca manager and one where he will do well to succeed and earn his money in the managing business by defeating the man he's constantly compared to on a daily basis since he took the job of coaching the Blaugrana. It promises to be a great footballing match with plenty of storylines set to unfold as the road to Berlin heats up for both of these two great sides.

My predicted lineup:

ter Stegen
Alves --- Pique --- Mascherano --- Alba
Rakitic --- Busquets --- Iniesta
Messi --- Suarez --- Neymar

Tot el camp
és un clam
som la gent blaugrana
Tant se val d'on venim
si del sud o del nord
ara estem d'acord, ara estem d'acord,
una bandera ens agermana.
Blaugrana al vent
un crit valent
tenim un nom el sap tothom:
Barça, Barça, Baaarça!

Jugadors, seguidors,
tots units fem força.
Son molt anys plens d'afanys,
son molts gols que hem cridat
i s'ha demostrat, i s'ha demostrat,
que mai ningu no ens podrĂ  torcer.
Blaugrana al vent
un crit valent
tenim un nom el sap tothom:
Barça, Barça, Baaarça!

What do you guys think about our weaknesses and how Pep can possibly exploit them considering that he's the coach that knows our players, and their limitations, the best.

At the same time, the players know the way Pep thinks and prepares for big games so I'm sure they'll chip in with their thoughts to Lucho and the team.

I thin our main weakness comes from the midfield - this is not what it used to be and can be overrun - should Guardiola organise something like he did against Porto at Munich, then it is vital we stay in control and not loose our heads.

But overall the team has changed a lot compared to the last days of Guardiola. Neymar and Suarez with Messi is something he never coached. The defense and midfield have also a new face and new prorities - not saying that he doesnt know the players and wouldnt have intricate knowledge of how Barca play but it is largely a different team compared to the one he used to manage.

Pep is key for Bayern, but not because he knows Barça. He is key because he is the best in the world.

Pep does know a lot of our players, but we have new faces all over the pitch and we play differently. If Bayern qualify, it won't be because Pep has miraculous knowledge of Barça's team. I reckon Lucho knows this team better than Pep.

I have a very strong feeling that things are gonna get ugly by the end of the first leg. It's gonna be intensely competitive, more than we think it's gonna be. Tempers will flare and rash reactions will happen.

I have no idea how this tie will turn out, but what I do not expect is things getting ugly. No reason for that. Pep is not one for that sort of nonsense, there's no Mourinho in the tie, no sign of Madrid, no hatred between the teams, neither team will play defensive football and butcher the other team...
So yeah, I see no reason for a messy tie. Whoever qualifies, I expect quality football that neutrals will enjoy.

I think that's the wrong mentality completely to go into the game. It's a CL semi and we want to make the final. If it needs to get ugly for us to reach the final then so be it. Forget that Pep is a barça fan; he will use every trick in the book to go back to Munich with an advantage and try to qualify to the final.

We should expect the worst and get ready for everything.

Absolutely Love this match-up, ever since our demise in 2013, this has been the only game, i hoped to witness again, for it is the one football
game that carries the theme "Redemption", and it couldn't have happened at a better moment!

I've mentioned lately,

This is the duel, that will completely elevate Luis Enirque into the world stage with atomic impact, it will shred every doubt left on any in mind to tiny bits, on whether Enrique has a savvy understanding of tactical mapping, and an ability to adapt and maneuver to Pep Guardiola's spoofs.

The real reason Guardiola is worrying not Bayern (taking injuries into account), is that he is an outside the box thinker, which in wars and battles is coined as "the element of surprise"

Consistency is key, when facing an opponent that is content with using the road you expect them to (PSG, Man City, Madrid etc), but when an opponent is not confined by one path, and would use military deception tactics, the situation can be tricky

This is D-day, and we shall expect Pep Guardiola to deploy everything from ghost armies to inflatable dummy tanks to get a result

Cause in Munich winning the Bundisliga and (the injuries excuse) will not protect him from criticism and will probably cost him his Job

And it would certainly sting to know he lost his job against a man who had an uphill slippery climb along the peaky glaciers of success he has built in his time managing Barcelona

Side note, Tomaz, seriously end the disappearing act, it's no big deal, who cares whose wrong and right, nobody's immune to error, we all one fan base, supporting the same cause lets not focus our energies on proving who won what opinion.

While the negativity surrounding the club, has somewhat divided us as posters in the past, the current positive climate should do the opposite:thumbsup:

Let's settle the score :fero:

If there is one game, that we would need Leo Messi, to be in his ultimate sorcery form, it is this one

He will need to rediscover his inner El Pibe De Oro, to put that last defeat behind him, one of 8 members still remaining from that same squad that faced Bayern 2/5 years ago

So the task of leading the troops through this battlefield will be placed on his shoulders,

Take nothing for granted, bayern is only scratched not wounded, they still posses one of the deepest squads in europe, and i won't put it past them to show up and give us real fight on the night.

We've got El Clasico final to build up. Match of the century.

For some strange reason, my crystal ball tells me that Juve may well upset the odd makers and upset real madrid, they have a great team, and if they play to their strengths and defend in numbers, lets not focus on Chiellini's previous week blunder, i have a very strong feeling they will be winners....

in the words of Bruce Buffer, football fans around the world, this is the moment we all been waiting for!

I'm not in the habit of quoting myself, by why exhaust my mind to attempt and define what just bestowed upon our eyes tonight, what i've mentioned today, was communicated to Leo through the grapevine! absolute magic:worship:

Obvously missing an option and his physicality would have been a good option against this Bayern and not to mention that he has come up with some crucial goals.

However having said that, Lucho has preferred to use him more in La Liga then in CL.

Suarez vs. Chiellini & Evra final.

If you put it this way, there can't be a more entertaining final.
That would be hilarious lol.
Hope it happens.

I don't mean it in the way that either team is inherently dirty. I just feel it's two really competitive sides and competition will bring out the dirty. I feel it will be two teams at each others neck looking for that last inch that can get them over.

**** Mayweather vs Paquiao. This is the sporting event of the year. For me at least.

No surprises from Lucho.

Starting lineup, confirmed:

ter Stegen
Alves Pique Mascherano Alba
Rakitic Busquets Iniesta
Messi Suarez Neymar

Bench: Bravo, Bartra, Vermaelen, Adriano, Xavi, Rafinha, Pedro

#26 ·
Bayern official: Neuer: Rafinha, Boateng, Benatia: Lahm, Alonso, Thiago, Schweinsteiger, Bernat : MĂĽller, Lewandowski

Looks like Pep's plan will be to double up on the right side to both attack Alba and defend Neymar. Going to need a huge effort from our midfield trio if we're going to stifle them and come through here. We're outnumbered in the center as well with Bayern going 4v3 on us there, I expect them to have more possession and us to play more on the counter looking at the teams.

Must get a maximal effort from all the players involved if we're to take a good result to Germany, going to be tough but really looking forward to seeing how this plays out now. Visca el Barca!

Very happy with the first half performance. We are better and should have scored. We play with a lot of balls, building up play from the back, nutmegs...

Dani Alves has a new contract, now he's negotiating more money. Great display so far, birthday boy.
