Again a CL fixture before a big 4 clash. Chelsea at the weekend is of course what counts more as we do not necessarily need the points from this with 3 matches and 3 wins so far. The 2nd placed team (Wolfsburg) has 4 points, so a draw is maybe enough already to fix 1st place in that group. Hell knows what the line-up will be, I expect a few changes once again to give some a rest. Line-up without Giggs, Fletcher, Carrick, Vida - and Obertan starting.

1-0 Owen

Rio is not playing well. So if he is fit, then i think he should play and try to get some form back. Also i hope fergue starts with Anderson and then give fletcher few mins ( if he is fit).

It´s a boy. Strange name somehow, is that a popular name in the UK?

Rooney becomes a father

Eurosport - Mon, 02 Nov 15:28:00 2009

Manchester United star Wayne Rooney became a father for the first time on Monday, when wife Coleen gave birth to a baby boy.

The Rooneys have named their first son Kai Wayne, who was born at the Liverpool Women's Hospital at 2.20pm on Monday afternoon.

Sources claim Rooney was with Coleen throughout the birth.

An insider said: "Wayne was a star with Coleen. He didn't leave her side from the moment she came into the hospital.

"When Col gave birth, Wayne's eyes welled up. As soon as he was handed the baby the tears began.

"He was over the moon and was saying 'I can't believe it.'"

Sir Alex Ferguson will wait for news from Rooney before deciding whether to include his star striker in United's Champions League game with CSKA Moscow.

"It depends on the situation with his wife," Ferguson said ahead of the birth. "She is pregnant and in hospital at the moment so we just have to wait on that one."

Strike partner Dimitar Berbatov is also doubtful after taking a blow on the kneecap against Blackburn on Saturday while Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand (both knee) and Ryan Giggs (hip) have already been ruled out.

Park Ji-Sung will not be considered either, with Ferguson confirming the South Korean has been put on a two-week fitness programme after suffering a series of minor ailments.

But Gary Neville is back from suspension and Scotland star Darren Fletcher will start after a month out with an ankle injury.

4-0 to United, Welbeck, Obertan and Macheda (2) with the goals. This would make us the first team to qualify for the next round no? :proud:

BTW Berba, feel free to make the Chelsea match thread aswell after this game , we've just been pathetic at Stamford Bridge year after year, you starting the thread will change our fortunes no doubt.

Fergie will not take CSKA lightly, I have never seen him take Europe lightly after 2006. Expect a strong lineup. With one eye at the Chelsea game and the next on qualification I expect a team like this.

Foster
Neville Vidic Evans Evra
Valencia Anderson Carrick Nani
Owen Berbatov

Maybe Fabio will play instead of Evra and Obertan will get a few minutes, I'd prefer Park and Fletcher to get match time before the Chelsea game though.

I would play a totally different team to the one that will play against Chelsea (which is our toughest game away in the EPL), apart from Fletcher, who needs match fitness before the chavs game.

Fletcher will start, whilst Rooney, Giggsy and Ferdinand are definitely out. You'd expect that he wouldn't risk Vidic either, whilst Evra should be rested.

I'd rest Berbatov too, and play with two up top against Chelsea, but I can see him playing this and being dropped for that.

As written above he is doubtful because of a knee injury. No need to risk something, Owen / Macheda can start this and Berba/Rooney then vs. Chelsea.

vida I hope you´re right about the scorers (if they play). :smileani:

I expect this team to play (taking injuries and births into account):

Foster

Neville - Brown - Evans - Evra

Welbeck - Fletcher - Carrick - Nani

Owen - Berbatov

Scholes or Anderson could play instead of Carrick but otherwise I think the team will resemble that one.

Is Rio fit for this?

Injury worries for Reds

Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic, Ji-sung Park and Ryan Giggs will definitely miss Tuesday's Champions League tie with CSKA Moscow, while Dimitar Berbatov is a doubt after suffering a kick on the knee-cap in United's weekend win.

Wayne Rooney's involvement is also unclear after wife Coleen gave birth to the couple's first child on Monday. However, it's not all bad news: Darren Fletcher is definitely back having recovered from an injury picked up on international duty last month.

"Darren was a substitute on Saturday and will play on Tuesday," the boss told media at his pre-match press conference.

"I think most people recognise Fletcher as a big-game player, but we’ve been aware of that for quite a while. He's been missed in some key games recently so it will be good to have him back."

Sir Alex had less reason to smile about some of his other stars. Rio Ferdinand, he says, needs to rest, while Ji-sung Park won't appear on the pitch for at least two weeks.

"Rio has a calf injury and they can be troubleseome," the boss said. "If you don’t rest and give it the proper treatment then you can end up in the situation we’ve been in where you’re playing players in games when they’re not 100 per cent fit. He’s doing some good work and hopefully we’ll see improvement [before our game against Chelsea on Sunday].

"Ji [trained this morning but he] is still in recovery and won’t be involved tomorrow. We’re going to give him two weeks to develop his physical side. He’s had too many small injuries coming back from internationals so he really needs to do some core work. That’s what he’ll do over the next two weeks."

Awesome that Fabio is starting. Firstly because it gives him another match of first team football, and hopefully he's brother will soon start pushing for a first team place on the right as well.

But most importantly, because it gives Evra a wee rest. When given an opportunity like this, it is good to rest him, because at other times, he is impossible to drop like Rooney.
