Champions League | Wed, 2 May 07, 19:45 | San Siro

Well, we're a draw away from the CL final, 4 pts away from the PL title and in the FA Cup final, fantastic feat from our lads and boss considering the thin squad we've had and all the injuries in the past 2 months, whatever happens on Wednesday i'm proud of them and so should every United fan.

Going to Milan won't be easy, they usually win in their CL games and a 1-0 or 2-1 would send us out. We'll have our first choice CB's back though, so i'm gonna predict a hard fought 1-1 draw for us, Rooney with the goal.

one thing is we must score a goals and iam sure we will its the defensive part that bothers me...carrick should not leave kaka like he did in the first leg.

i think fergue will bring rio and heinze will be LB and Oshea RB..so its much better than the one at old trafford....

2-1 for me....rooney adn ronaldo with the goals...

ima go for a 1-1 draw. I know that milan are probably going to be going all out so its up to Ronaldo, Giggs and Rooney to give us the counter attacking fluency that we are so good at. I just hope it doesnt go to extra time.

Milan has only lost 4 times at home this season, i think:
Palermo, Roma, Inter, Lille.

I don't think we can be held without a goal but this game is going to be much tougher. It's all about who scores first.

I expect Milan to dominate the midfield and possession, we will have to take our chances more precisely than we did at Old Trafford if we want to get to the final.

Defensively Milan are a solid side and we cannot compete in this area but they will have to come out of their shell and take the game into our own half which will leave them open, they have no choice but to come forward even if they will play conservative to begin with. We have to play to our strengths and their weaknesses, we might not need a win to go through but we still need to occupy the same zest and industry going forward to dismantle them. Sitting back against them is not an option, pace is the key for us getting through especially in the second half with their classy yet creakingly old defence.

I have little faith in our defence, hopefully our offensive players have blinders. Rooney is on excellent form and I think he could be the difference between a draw and a loss.

Ultimately we have a shot at putting them out but equally Milan will fancy their chances.

Who will win? I don't know but lets hope for a game which was just as entertaining as the last.

Will Vidic, Ferdinand and Neville be ready for the game or is that still uncertain?
It still looks uncertain, Saha is definitely fit now. His pace and fluidity will be useful even as a sub. Regardless of who we have in defence we will conceed a few. I have a feeling Ferdinand will make it but the rest no.

Coming from a Milanfan's perspective: I'd rather see Ferdinand back than Neville or Vidic to be honest. But I wouldn't mind seeing both sides fielding their best 11 either (which is very unlikely though). Anyway I said it before and I'll repeat it again: all I hope for is that Dida doesn't make a howler or two, the guys fight like lions for every inch and that we see a good game of football. The winner of this game will have my full support in the final.

Ow yeah congratz with your victory over Everton today, it are teams like these that are able to come back from a 0-2 that are real worthy champions

The winner out of this game will probably win the final and will be hot favourites, the one what goes through deserves to win it anyway, Milan vs United was the ideal final if you looked at the remaining semi's teams.

If you saw the Liverpool and Chelsea game you can see that they are both hopeless this season and very one dimentional. Liverpool are crap but they seem to be good at the one off knock outs, it makes me furious to see. Even if Milan have card board cut outs which call themselves strikers they have Kaka who is better than their offensive players combined.

FERGUSON'S SLIDE RULE FOR SCHOLES

Sir Alex Ferguson has warned Paul Scholes to cut out the sliding tackles if Manchester United's midfield genius wants to avoid another Champions League heartbreak.

Famously suspended for United's unforgettable 1999 triumph over Bayern Munich, Scholes will take his place in the Red Devils line-up for Wednesday's semi-final decider with AC Milan knowing he is a yellow card away from being banned again should his side make it through to an all-English final in Athens on May 23.

The 32-year-old has already served one European ban this season after being sent off in the first leg of the quarter-final against Roma.

But Ferguson does not believe Scholes will have any problems this week, providing he stays on his feet.

"You cannot send a player out in the semi-final of the European Cup and tell him not to tackle," said the United boss.

"But Paul has to make sure he doesn't get booked. If he stays on his feet and tackles properly, he won't have a problem.

"In Europe, they just don't accept sliding in. That is where he gets all his bookings.

"We accept it in our country when he slides in but they don't look at it the same way in Europe. It is not filthy or violent conduct, it is all about interpretation."

After the sporting manner in which the first leg was conducted at Old Trafford last week, Ferguson is not anticipating the Milan players will try to lure Scholes into getting a caution.

Besides, the Scot can see no material benefit to Milan should they succeed in such an aim.

"The second leg would be in progress and one of us would be going to the final, so I do not see any benefit for them in that," he observed.

"But Milan don't seem like that kind of side to me anyway. There was nothing like that in the last game we played against them and on Tuesday there was nothing like that either.

"If anyone deserves to play in a final it is Paul and we are all hoping that is the case.

"If he keeps his calm about the game I am sure he will be all right."

Scholes is not the only player who will walk a disciplinary tightrope at the San Siro. Star man Cristiano Ronaldo and close friend Gabriel Heinze are one booking away from a ban, as is Paolo Maldini, although the Milan veteran is not likely to figure anyway due to a knee injury.

While some pundits have suggested United will start favourites following their last-gasp win last week, others believe Milan's pair of away goals offer them a priceless advantage.

Certainly the Red Devils have never lost a European tie under Ferguson after winning the first leg, although their manager admits that despite recording away wins against Benfica and Lille this season, United will have to step up significantly if they are to avoid a third semi-final loss to the Italians, having been on the wrong end of the result in both 1958 and 1969.

"I wouldn't say we were favourites but we have given ourselves a great chance," he said.

"A goal lead is a great start in European football and we have good counter-attacking possibilities in our team.

"What we have to do is cross the line as we did in 1999 when we went to Juventus and won there.

"We have to step up a gear. There is no question about that. They have great players in their team and so do we. It could be any score."

The Key to this game from a milan perspetive, is Dida, and how he performs. i am hoping he will perform well, biggest example of the efect of his performance on the team is the games against Bayern, 1st one we dominated, and scored two, but he had a shocker of a game, and conceeded 2 goals that he shouldnt have, while in the 2nd leg he played like the Dida we expect and we won 2-0. on aggregete it could have easily been 4-0 on, but that duznt matter. what matters is his perfomance at the san siro

if rio plays it means the midfield will be fletch-carrick-scholes and ill be confident enough to say united will actually win (dont shoot me down).

if rio doesnt play then fletch is going in defence, the midfield will be too weak and well lose

that defence-midfield balance is so crucial for united in this tie

Fletch must play in the midfield! Must! He was too good in our last two Champions League games. Plus we need a third central midfielder for this game.

Hopefully Rio is back. We need him!!

I'd much rather play Rooney out wide as he does heaps of defensive work. At the same time, Ronnie isnt as effective when up front (alone).

It is all up 2 united players
I don’t know why u ppl r scared I am very confidant that if we just play our regular football -which is fantastic- we would win this but if we play like we did against Portsmouth we will be eaten alive. In the 1st leg with out our defense we created more chances and where more dangerous and I saw VDS 2 or 3 onky times in 2nd half.
It could be a boring 0_0 in the 2nd leg which is what I hope4 but I don’t think that will happen and we will see more goals, hopefully we will be the last 2 score with a great comeback just like our important games against benfica, fulham, Blackburn, Milan and yesterday’s game but not like arsenals game in the emirates where they where the ones with the comeback after a great performance from us.
If we win or draw this we will qualify regardless of our score line
If we loose this 3_4 or 4_5 we will qualify

Thats the problem, Giggs and Scholes are vital players and have had great seasons but recently they have looked a little jaded and inconsistent compared to our younger players.

I don't know which United team is going to turn up, we have had some great games recently and some horrible ones. It wouldn't shock me if we battered them but it wouldn't shock me if we were eaten alive and humbled.
