SLAVEN KOPRIVNICA vs GALATASARAY
Stadion Gradski | 18:30 | Thu, August 16

This Thursday we're playing Croatian side S. Koprivnica. With the confidence high after a great season opener, we'll be looking to ensure UEFA Cup qualification by putting down two good results against the unknown Croatian side. Bring 'm on

It's still unknown whether Lincoln will make it.

Slaven in European Cups

1999/2000 : Intertoto Cup
1st round : Glenavon 1-1 ; 0-3 Slaven
2nd round : Zaglebie 1-1 ; 0-0 Slaven
3rd round : Slaven 1-1 ; 0-2 Sigma Oloumouc

2000/2001 : Intertoto Cup
1rd round : Anorthosis 0-2 ; 0-7 Slaven
2nd round : Slaven 1-0 ; 1-0 Bastia
3rd round: Slaven 2-1 ; 0-2 Aston Villa

2003/2004 : Intertoto Cup
1st round : Hibernians 2-1 ; 0-3 Slaven
2nd round : Slaven 2-0 ; 0-1 Vllaznia
3rd round : Slaven 0-0 ; 2-2 Spartak Trnava
Semi-Finals : Lille 3-0 ; 1-1 Slaven

2004/2005 : Intertoto Cup
1st round : Slaven 1-0 ; 1-0 Drava
2nd round : Slaven 3-2 ; 1-0 Gloria
3rd round : Deportivo 3-0 ; 1-0 Slaven

They beat Aston Villa at home and drew Lille. So I think it won't be so easy as we say there. If we play carrefully and respect our opponent, we will trash them in Ali Sami Yen like Mlada Boleslav last year.

one of Galatasary's staff members came to Croatia to watch both of Slaven Belupo's league matches since the draw was made (both comfortable wins). His name is Ahmet Akcan. Here are some quotes he gave to the Croatian press:
"Slaven are a better team that what I was expecting when I came to Croatia. Our goal of course is to win both matches, but we cannot have the attitude that the match is already won before the game is played. On any day, any club can win. We cannot take Slaven lightly."

Slaven Belupo manager Kruno Jurcic is pretty humble before the match, he respects Galatasary very much and says it will be spectacular in Koprivnica.
"We have a lot of information on Galatasary, I have watched their matches on tape. Galatasary is a big club, there is no unknowns within their team. Unlike in the last round against Teuta, where we knew nothing about them, this time against "Gala" we will have a good picture of their team."

He added: "This will be a festival, open football and it will be a good experience for the players and myself. I was lucky enough as a player to play in some big matches (he was on the 98 World Cup team) but I know for many players on my squad, this will be something new and special. We will have to give 100% against a good team like Galatasary."

In my opinion, I think it will be a tough match in Koprivnica. My optimistic side says a draw, but my normal side :pp says Galatasary will win something like 2:1. In Turkey it will be difficult and that's where I think Gala will show their quality. I don't know what kind of crowd will be at the game but if its only 50% of what a "Gala-Fener" match is, the players on Slaven can't handle that I think

I think it might a draw away for us. I would like to know what they're strengths are. Care to inform us?
the attack is pretty good, they play an attacking style, 4-3-3. Their defense though is pretty shaky. I think Galatasary is too strong for them though, Slaven might surprise them first leg because they really have nothing to lose

Calm down, dude made a mistake, its not like he killed someone....
Anyhow, here is Belupo team:

- Iveša - Bošnjak, Radeljić, Kristić, Poldrugač - Jajalo, Posavec, Sopić, Poljak - Šehić, Vručina

That is the first Line up. They play 4-4-2 and 4-3-3 formation, depending on the team they are playing against. Against Us, they will probably play 4-4-2 ...

Best part of the team is Midfield and Forward. Posevac and Sopic are playing key role in the midfield. We should watch out for the long rage efforts, because their players are known to hit those kind of strikes.
Forward is very skillful as well. They don't need 100 chances ( Like Umit or Hakan ) to score, 1 great chance - probably 1 goal. So we need to be careful, especially Servet and his stupid mistakes.

Vrucina is the Arif type when it comes to faking penalties and stuff. That can be dangerous too.

Belupo is in great form at the moment, they played 4 games and won 3. Alongside Dinamo, they are in the best form at the moment in Croatian league.

Bad parts are lack of decent bench players and their defence is weak.
( Even tho they are getting better with every single match )...
Plus, they never played against team like Galatasaray last few seasons, so the pressure might overpower them. They are not used to great atmosphere ( as you can tell by their stadium ), so it will be vital to show them what are fans and what is Ali Sami Yen. They have a pretty young manager and that can be vital too.

As I read in papers, both Feldkamp and Ahmet analyzed the opponent very well and I don't expect any huge problems. Even tho they are capable of hurting us.
( But again, every team is when you don't take them seriously )

Posavec actually played in Turkey, for Ankaragucu. Sopic is an older player who played some seasons in Germany. Jajalo is a young player to look out for
