Today, in the morning alot of footballers (including Emenike,Sezer, Umit Karan, Mehmet Yildiz, Serkan Calik, Serdar Kulbilge, Sivasspor keeper Korcan) coaches (including Bulent Uygun), agents (Olgun Peker), presidents & directors (Aziz Yildirim, Mecnun Odyatmaz, Sekip Mosturoglu, İlhan Eksioglu, Nevzat Sakar)) are all taken into custody consequent upon the investigation about corruption and matchfixing in TSL that had been conducted for nearly a year. Very serious allegations are mentioned. At this moment the relevant premises are being searched. The case is cited to be linked with Ergenekon Case and the latest stock manipulation case. It is said that more important names will be taken into custody till tuesday

As expected this scandal is getting more and more widespread with who is getting involved, what club, etc. I'm going to be impartial and just state what the 'facts' are according to the media in Turkey thus far, and we should contribute here from hereon.

My biggest concern is that this is a league wide issue, the good/bad prospect for our league is at stake, the issue is not necessarily the individuals, but the repercussions. Razzerian had a good post in the Fenerbahce section about the ramifications of this whole thing, maybe a mod can put that in here.

As far as I can gather here is the rundown on everything so far.

Aziz Yildirim has been accused of playing a hand in match fixing in the league this season, specifically in the matches against Sivasspor in the final game, Karabukspor, and apparently the reason why Sezer Ozturk played so well against Trabzonspor. Vice President Şekip Mosturoglu and board member Ilhan Eskioglu were also detained for questioning.

New Fenerbahce transfers Emenike (Karabuk) and Sezer (Eskisehirspor) are also questioned.

Bulent Uygun, Umit Karan are involved from Eskisehirspor

Mecnun Otyakmaz, Korcan Çelikay from Sivasspor

Serdar Kulbilge and Serkan Calik from Genclerbirligi

Serdar Adali from Besiktas 'could' be involved starting tomorrow for contacting Ibrahim Akin before the Cup Final, in which Adali as confirmed his contact with Akin from Hurriyet's interview here (but not the time of contact): http://www.hurriyet.com.tr/spor/futbol/18166547.asp?gid=362

Search warrants have been issued, and searches have been done at Besiktas, Trabzonspor, Fenerbahce, and Sivasspor headquarters.

Giresunspor's president Omer Ulku and former president Olgun Peker

Diyarbakırspor former president Abdurrahman Yakut

Mersin İdmanyurdu Vice President Besir Acar

So far about 50 people have been brought into questioning and the number has been tipped to go into the hundreds.

"Bu sabah itibariyle emniyetten aldığımız bilgiye göre; çok uzun süre devam eden bir hazırlık sonucunda sadece F.Bahçe değil; Trabzonspor, Beşiktaş ve diğer birçok küçük kulübün de aralarında bulunduğu kulüplere operasyonun söz konusu"

Is the latest news that came out about 30 minutes ago as it is morning in Turkiye as I write this post. This case seems very comprehensive. It's going to spread as well.

I am laughing so hard at sezer ozturk right now :howler: :howler: I hope hope hope his career in Turkiye is done! you want to go to an Istanbul club so bad that you'll sell yourself like a whore? all while under an Eskisehirspor uniform with fans that stood by you? you deserve the fukkin worst! hahhahahah sezer :howler: this does not bother me one bit, except for the whole relegation threat but even then if we go a bunch of teams are lined up before us. We get rid of two scumbags in umit karan and bulent uygun who should take up coaching at ankaragucu as he will have a huge backing there. Ahhh I'm just loving the sezer ozturk thing right now, justice!

this is the stupidest 'scandal' I have ever seen in my entire life. If only the international press even understood the allegations and the basis surrounding them, they would likely piss themselves with laughter.

Gormemisler gibi yeni kurallari kullanmak icin aptal ve cahil bir 'oparasyon' baslatdilar. So far the the allegations are based entirely on the following;

We think there was match fixing because an injured player didn't play against both teams that were running for the title.

The final game of Fenerbahce's season was fixed because the keeper let in a howler. It was raining, and happens regularly, and not to mention no one even had any suspicions at the moment of the incident. Oh, and based on the stupidity of the these claims we might as well add that the player taking the shot is known for his siktirik goals.

So, is there a hired professional who has studied the art of match fixing and can deem a matched fixed by watching a game? That's pretty interesting now isn't it. We would probably be the first nation in the world to actually use that pile of horse shit to make such stupid allegations that hurt the league as a whole.

Like I've said on Twitter, the case was going to be huge, but looking at it, it's becoming or has become a huge joke. I had a good conversation with a Welsh friend of mine over Skype who's been following the developments. He's saying this is more of Turkish football getting tickled than rocked.

And the same prosecutor who is prosecuting Ergenekon is prosecuting this, and the Ergenekon thing has become a big joke.

If we put all bias of our teams aside for one second will some of you at least agree with me that this is fvcking ridiculous so far?

I'm not eliminating the chances of legitimate evidence being brought forward but so far it is nothing short of a joke. This is the last thing the Turkish league needed and the claims are absolutely mind blowing. If this is a brilliantly conceived plan to warn board members, players, and managers of a revised 0 tolerance of unethical actions then... wow. I say unethical because I'm speaking from the perspective of a western world legal system. I'm not entirely familiar with Turkish law so who knows.

That is like catching your son lighting a small fire in the back yard, and as a lesson you take 50 bins of gasoline, pour it all over the house, and light it flames hoping to teach him the harsh outcomes of playing with fire.

Ey? I wasn't questioning the legitimacy of the scandal. I'd rather wait to see and hear all the details first before disregarding it as a joke. Extreme yes, but just because nothing concrete has come out yet doesn't mean it's not legit. If in 2 weeks time, nothings come out and the worlds back to normal, then fine, it was a joke, til then let's just see where this goes.

And as well you shouldn't. But we can also make a comparison to the Bursaspor arrests for fraud two weeks ago. Has anything been heard since then?

I have a feeling this is going away in about two weeks. There's too much confusion over exactly what the charges are. Plus, it's speculated that Aziz has 15 charges over his head. We don't even know exactly what they are. We can only speculate, and speculation doesn't hold up in a court of law (but maybe not in Turkey).

Same old posts here, so I should just put my laughter and leave :howler:

A quick note, no sane person would do this much work without serious evidence to back it up. I think a lot of teams, especially Fenerbahce, are in very deep shit. I also think many teams during last 30 years did all sorts of things, but if someone got their mind made up to stop this, Fenerbahce will end in Bank Asya birinci lig, birinci lig Bank Asya. That would destroy Fenerbahce for the next 5 years at least.

I'm glad someone is cleaning shit in Turkey, but let's see how successful are they going to be exactly. My hopes are low, I think pressure will get to main players and everything will return to it's normal course. But there is a slim chance that nothing will ever be the same.

Most media is claiming that there are photos, audio and video available of these scandals as well. Interesting that Fenerbahce's media ban request was rejected.

TFF will gather next week to singlehandedly decide the future of the teams and people involved, as they have the authority to do so (and they must do it)..

If I know anything about Turkey and the mentality of the nation, I would imagine that every single team in the league has their fair share of corruption. Now I am not saying this corruption comes down to match fixing but worse crimes, such as money laundering.

And If I know anything about Turkey, the biggest fish in the room is generally the most corrupt one. In Gala's "golden age" they were most likely the most corrupt. Now Fener is the big gorilla in the room.

I don't care who gets hit, how they get hit and when. I just hope this case eventually serves as any sort of detterent for future abuses in the finances of football clubs.

But we all know the all too bias "babamin mali" mentality pertaining to one's favorite team is going to make things extremely difficult for us to get to the bottom of this.

**** it, throw all these kiros in jail.

We all know that making FB the scapegoat won't work. You mention the last 30 years, so how do you punish that then?
Why wouldn't it worked?

There is no such thing as absolute justice. I'm sure that throughout the years, every single club in Turkey has been doing these sorts of things. This is in my opinion directly connected to the lack of success in European football. Anyway, just because you can't or won't punish something that happened in 1993 does not mean that you won't punish something that happened 2011. Because one does not justify the other, crime is a crime. If they managed to put it on paper this time, then the ones involved will be punished, regardless of what happened years ago.

It's tough luck for Fenerbahce that government got their evidence when they were doing the corruption.

It's naive to think they have any evidence when they're arresting Emenike for not playing in a match, and then his club says they can provide medical certificates that ruled him out of the match.

Or when Mehmet Yildiz is arrested for his "terrible" performance in a match .. that he only played 10 minutes in and created a goal.

This is arrest first, hope they can find something later. If they can't find anything, let the person go and pretend they never arrested them in the first place. Ergenekon yani.

If you have evidence, show it. At the moment even the lawyers who are being paid to defend these cases don't know what the accusations against their clients are.

So far it's like you go out for a walk and then you get arrested, taken into custody. The police ask you "have you killed anyone?" - no, "do you snort cocaine?" - no, "heroin?" - no, "can we give you a drug test?" - yes, "aha! you're over the legal blood-alcohol limit, you shouldn't be driving!" - officer I was walking, not driving, "ok, you're free to go, but we'll be watching you like a hawk :fero:".

That's basically what's happened to several footballers over the last 48 hours, and several journalists and intellects over the last 4 years.
