The Gilardino Transfer Saga

First out in a long row of articles is Channel4 with an interview with Berlusconi's brother. I have a feeling this is going to be a long running topic over this summer. At least we've already detached ourselves from Gilardino as it's so obvious that he will leave. Now all I care about is getting good money for him.

---------------------------------------

Milan promise Gilardino swoop Monday 20 June, 2005

Parma striker Alberto Gilardino will sign for Milan this summer, says Rossoneri Vice-president Paolo Berlusconi.

The latter, brother of owner Silvio Berlusconi, has publicly told fans to expect the arrival of the Italian international. "I think we will be able to give ourselves this gift," he stated.

Gilardino has been linked with a move to the Rossoneri for some time even if talks over his transfer were delayed by Parma’s survival play-off.

But negotiations will now resume after Gilardino’s goal helped Parma beat Bologna on Saturday, thus ensuring their Serie A status.

"It was only right to not disturb the player before Parma’s last game," added Berlusconi. "We’ll now let our friend Adriano Galliani get to work.

"However, let us not forget that all of these presents are concluded with the signature of our President (Silvio Berlusconi) who puts up the money."

Milan are set to meet with Parma officials on Wednesday in an attempt to agree a fee, especially as they have reportedly already agreed personal terms with the striker.

The Stadio Tardini outfit initially valued the former Verona player at a massive £35m but that figure has since been reduced.

Milan are understood to have had an £18m bid rejected and they will up their offer to around £23m.

The San Siro giants will be keen to wrap up the deal as soon as possible given that Chelsea, Inter and Juventus are also monitoring the situation.

I think £23m is excellent...£18m is just about alright but we need more obviously and can get more money if we hold out.

But I still get a nagging feeling that even if we get £50m or £100m will that money ever be used to improve the club or will it all be diverted elsewhere...

I think the latter will happen....

Read a story this morning about Crespo's move too Milan he is quoted as saying " As for Gilardino, I thank him with all my heart for saving Parma, he's a great player, there's room for everyone at Milan,"
He obviously still has Parma in the heart.

Yes, Crespo is known to still be a supporter of Parma. :proud:

this transfer drama is getting boring. i think it is totally open where he goes. it will be a big club for sure but there are quite a few out there.

ps: congrats on staying in serie a. i hope you use the transfer money you get (fey, gila, bonera) wisely and build a competitive group for next year in order to avoid a heartattack finish like this year. is there any news about a potential buyer for parma at the moment? someone who could bring in fresh money ?

'Gilardino concluded by asking his unknown future club a favour. "If possible, I would ask them to sign (Parma teammate Domenico) Morfeo," he remarked.'

Get fvcked, he's ours :)
Ah, but that sounds just like a joke from his part and a way to say how much he's enjoyed playing with Domenico.

We want £30 Millio for Gila and no less. We shouldnt be pushed around by big clubs and need the money to buy 2 defenders and 1 decent creative midifielder and 1 more QUSALITY STRIKER.
:undecide:

Hmm...I think not even Berlusconi can afford that for a single player...
Roman Abramovich is the only person who could pull that one off... :sigh:

Which is bad for us as Gila wants to stay in Italy at all costs and will definately be shrugging any offers from abroad right off. :sob:

Look, we have to be realistic. After Gila helped save us, I think that if he doesn't want to leave Italy then we should respect that. But at the same time, if Chelsea offer us an excessive amount of money then Gila should respect that & go there.

But anyway, I don't want to worry about this stuff for the time being.

I keep hearing a lot of talk on sky about Gila says he wants to stay in italy Gila says he likes Milan Gilas dad says he wants to go to Milan. Well at the end of the day it isnt up to him, If Parma get a £20 Million offer from Milan and a £30 Million from Chelsea they are not going to ignore the 10Million just so he can be happy. In my opinion sorry Alberto i am a BIG BIG fan of you but a bigger one of Parma so in my opinion we accept the highest offer and nothing else if that means Chelsea then so be it.

I agree Parma Talent. It seems this guy wants to be a criminal or something, why does he want to join Milan so badly?
Its not his decision. But at the end of the day, we know who is in charge of the Lega Calcio and thus Parma will sell him to Milan. Don't be surprised to get a nice, well-rounded schedule next year, and a few favors from the upper council

Thanks for agreeing with me Pulsar!!

I think the main reason he wants to join Milan is because of the up and coming world cup really. But "suposidly" the best leauge in thw world is the Premiership so it couldnt harm his case to much to go there. However i can understand he wants to stay in Italy but at the end of the day who ever offers the most money should be the person gaining Gilas signature not the club who he most favours.

I agree man. Whoever offers the most cash should get the deal. It doesn't matter where the player wants to go. If he refuses to go, then tough luck. He's screwing you and benefitting himself by moving somewhere else, so refuse a transfer and keep him for God's sake if he refuses to go Chelsea or real, whoever offered more. It will only help you in a quest for Serie A.

Unless Chelsea offers twice the amount Milan does we should really respect Gilas wish and let him go to Milan. The man deserves it. He has shown that he is a FANTASTIC player and a FANTASTIC person. To me he surely is a Parma-legend. One of the finest!!

I agree with him being a ledgend as he is definatly one and i really like him as a player. But this season transfer market could decide the clubs ling term future the key is to bring in players that can keep us up or better. The more money we get the better to bring in replacements. There is no point in losing out on money that can rebuild the club just so Gila can be happy at a DIFFERENT club. Him being at Milan wont help us survive we need all the money we can get to help the club survive.

I'm in serious doubts that ANY kind of money will help us unless we get a new owner. Like last year we never saw anything of value from the Adriano-money or something else. The higher ppl will get them in their pockets.

£23m would be very nice, indeed. Anything over £20m is reasonable.

We will have to respect Gilardino's desicion, and if he wants to go to Milan, then it's 95% certain that he will join Milan. We can't really stand in his way when we made a promise to sell him this summer, and £23m is more than adequate in todays market.
