Sergio Agüero - 88 - Forward - Atletico Madrid - Argentina

Sergio Agüero is one of the brightest talents of Argentina, and is already playing for one of the best clubs in Spain on the age of 18. It really says all about his great talent. He has 3 caps for the NT, and will for sure inspire the team for years to come. His nickname is El Kun, after a cartoon figure that looks like him. He is the youngest to play in the argentine league, when he made his debut only 15 years 35 days old. In 53 games he scored 23 goals for his former club Independiente.

A little update, June 2008:
Sergio has established himself as one of the best strikers in Europe, after his numerous of flashing displays in the 07-08 season. He scored 25 goals in 45 matches, many of them spectacular strikes.

He also won the U20-WC 2007, and was the star of the tournament. He won the award for the best player, and also won the award for the tournaments topscorer, netting 6 goals in 7 games.

His ballcontrol is amazing, and combined with acceleration on the same level as former Brazil star Romario and great finishing skills, he is very difficult to stop when he has his nose pointing against the goal.

Sergio Agüero has also played 8 games for the NT the last year, scoring 3 goals. A fantastic season for the argentine hot shot.

Lionel Messi - 87 - Forward - Barcelona - Argentina

Messi is a sensational player. He is unstopable with the ball in his feet. Great tecnique, speed, ballcontrol and dribbling skills. I love to watch this little whiz play, i sometimes think he gives football a new dimension, and if any can fill the great Maradonas golden shoes it have to be Messi.

It´s a bit scary that he seems quite injury prone, but hope it gets better for him. For barca b he scored 37 goals in 30 games! For the first team he have scored 10 goals in 50 matches.

Ezequiel Garay - 88 - Defender - Real Madrid - Argentina

Garay is a very talented player. He can play central defender or right wing, a pretty special combinatinon in my point of view. He has been one of the best central defenders so far in Primera Division, and have scored 5 goals in 17 games.

He takes freekicks in dangerous positions, and has also scored 2 goals on penalties. He has a good fysical apperence, with 1.86 m and 87 kg. His speed are good, but not great. He is a good header and a strong player.

Update October 2008:

His good play for Racing Santandar the last seasons have given him a chance to play for the spanish giants Real Madrid, who bought him in the summer window 2008, but the transfer will not go trough before next season.

He has also been played some matches for the NT, and was apart of the Olympic team that won the gold medal this summer. A player that seems to have a great future ahead of him.

Garay was born in 1986 (10 October), not 1988.

Gustavo Oberman, Argentina, Forward, Argentinos Juniors. Age: 21.

Oberman is good talent, with tecnique and speed. He was also on the winning side in the U-20 WC, and did a good job for Argentina there. He has now a loan spell with the spanish Segunda B team CD Castellon.

A clip here.

Haha, forget him, he's a complete muerto. He may has made some illusions some times ago but really he has pretty disappeared now.

Oscar Ustari, Argentina, Keeper, Independiente. Age: 20

One of the most talented goalkeepers from Argentina in a long time. He´s a part of the NT already, and som sources says he has signed on a pre contract for Barcelona, with a transfer fee around 10 million Euro.

Some clips here and here.
Overrated for sure... Sergio Romero is way better than him.

Image

Neri Cardozo, Argentina, Midfielder/Winger, Boca Juniors. Age: 20.

Cardozo seems to be a very promising winger. He have great pace and good dribbling skills, and creates a lot of chances for his team. He made his first team debut february 2004, only 17 years old, and was also a part of the winning U20-WC team 2005.

Some clips here, here and here.

Unfortunately, we can now say that Neri Cardozo didnt turn out to be the talent hoped. He escaped from Boca to go to an obscure ecuatorian club (geez i dont even know for sure if it's Ecuator or another country).

Maximiliano Moralez - Argentina - Midfielder - FC Moscow. Age: 20

Maximiliano is an attacking midfielder, who has great tecnique, speed and dribbling skills. In 37 matches for Racing he have scored 5 goals, and he was also a part of the team that finished second in this years Sudamericana sub-20. Looks like he has a bright future ahead of him.

He got sold to FC Moscow, after a great performance in the U20 WC 07, but has struggeled a bit after the transfer, and are back on loan at Racing Club.

Some clips here, here and here.

Thx god he managed to escape Russia and now he's a Velez Sarsfield player (best move ever imo) and he's shinning right now. Will be called up for sure by Diego soon.

Gabriel Paletta - Defender - Boca Juniors. Age: 21.

Paletta got a contract with Liverpool after some impressing spells in the U-20 WC last summer. He has a tough playing style, that should suit the english league, but he havent´t impressed much for the reds yet. It seems like he needs some time to adjust to the english culture and way of play. We haven´t seen the best of this lad, he will improve with time.

Now he´s back in Argentina, and are playing well for Boca Juniors.

Emiliano Insua, Argentina, Left Back, Liverpool. Age: 18.

Insua has signed a 18 month loan spell, with possibilities to buy him later on. He had some apperances with the Sudamericana sub-20, and his future looks bright. He is a tough young man, something he showed when he impressed for the Liverpool reserves, making some tough tackles and good plays on his left side. Could be a future star for the reds for sure.

Pablo Zabaleta, Argentina, Defender/Midfielder, Espanyol. Age: 22.

Zabaleta was one of the most important players in Argentinas U-20 WC triumph. He was the team captain, and led his troops in a impressive way. He has also played for the senior NT, and is a important player for his club team.

Mauro Zarate, Argentina, Forward, Velez Sarsfield. Age: 19.

Zarate is a really great player, and i don´t think he stays long in Argentina if he continues to play the way he is. He have great tecnique, good speed, and is a good finisher. I think he have star potential, so i´m looking forward to follow him in the future. He also was topscorer of the apertura 2006 with 12 goals, the same as Palacio.

Fernando Ruben Gago, Argentina, Midfielder, Real Madrid. Age: 20.

I think his name is pure magic, but his play is even better! I love to watch this player, he works his ass off on the field, always moving around making him self an option for his team mates when he don´t have the ball. He plays as a holding midfielder, where he dictates the play, with exellent passing and good rythm. He also have worldclass ballcontrol, and is very mature for a 20 year old. He´s great now, and still improving.

This is his titles so far:

- Recopa Sudamericana 2006 (with Boca Juniors)
- Recopa Sudamericana 2005 (with Boca Juniors)
- Primera Division Argentina Apertura 2005 (with Boca Juniors)
- Copa Sudamericana 2005 (with Boca Juniors)
- FIFA's World Youth Championship 2005 (with the under-20 Argentina national football team)
- Primera Division Argentina 2006 Clausura (with Boca Juniors)

He played 69 games for Boca, scoring one goal, and what a beauty when it first came. He has also recentley made his debudt for the senior NT.

Gonzalo Higuain, Argentina, Forward, Real Madrid. Age: 19.

Higuain followed Gago to Real Madrid in the january transfer window,2007. Higuain got a lot of attention after scoring to nice goals for River Plate against Boca Juniors. In 33 games he scored a total of 13 goals with River. He´s a very tecniqual gifted player, and he makes smart moves to create space for himself and his team-mates on the pitch. Definitely a man for the future.

Lucas Biglia - Midfielder - Anderlecht. Age: 21.

Biglia is a very talentetd player, with good positioning and passing ability. He is creative with the ball, and often the brain behind good offensive play. Some says his playing style is a bit similar to Andrea Pirlo. He made a smart club choise when he moved from Independiente to Anderlecht in Belgium. Here he knew he would play, instead of riscing the bench in a bigger club. He has also gained experience in the Champions League, playing all 6 games in the group stage. Biglia was also a part of the team that won the U-20 WC in the summer, 2005. We haven´t heard the last of this guy.

For the season 06-07, he won the league with Anderlecht, and also got the award for best young player in the league.

Jose Manuel Torres, Argentina, Midfielder, Racing Club. Age: 21.

Jose Manuel is hardworking player, always giving his best. He likes to tear opp his opponents play with his tough style, and never lets them get too much time with the ball before he´s in their feet fighting for the ball. Jose Manuel is not so tecniqual and elegant as players like Gago and Biglia, but he´s very important for his club Racing, trough his attitude and willingness to always give his best. He was also a part of the winning team in the U-20 WC 2005.

Hector Damian Steinert, Argentina, Forward, Newell Old Boys. Age: 20.

Don´t know too much about Steinert, and his developing the last year, but he looked a good prospect last time i heard about him. Good speed and tecnique is some of his strenghts on the field, and maybe he will have a good year in this years season, hope to hear more about him in the future.
