This weekend Aalesund will play a vital city derby!! If they win, they have won their group, and are ready for qualification for promotion to the first divison!!!

I have only seen one match this year, because I live in Oslo, but since I am home visiting this weekend, I will get to see this match, that has a 3pm kick off on sunday.

Aalesund is traditionally a first division team, and with a fairly big city behind them, a new training hall(70 million NOK) finished, and a 100 million NOK stadium on it's way(hopefully soon), the team is more than ready to be there again.

I can almost hear you saying; but why are they in the 2 diviison, well, when they went down 2 years ago, they were only 6, yes 6 points away from promotion to the Norwegian top league. Bad luck, the strangest season ever Aafk finished 11 out of 14, and was 8 points away from second, and 6 away from third place.

Last season they won 20 matches and had two draws, and won their 2 division group easily. In the qualification they won 3-1 in the first match, and lead 1-0 at half time in the second match, still they lost. Mainly because vital players were injured and they played on artificial grass in the away match, always a bonus for the home team. The winner Tromsdalen has had a great season in the 1st division at the top half of the table.

I think we will gain promotion this year and get a great season next year. When we crushed Molde 2, the Molde trainer said that Aalesund, was good enough for a top 4 finish in the first division.

Aafk won 2-0, and was by far the best team. With this vital win, we have now won our group, and are ready to face the winner of another group, for the final promotion qualifications. The draw will be tomorrow, monday. And after the draw, they will face that team both home and away.

We will make it, 1st division next!!

Two more hours, and we will know. They can meet seven different teams in the qualifiers, but will only meet one of them.

Here's a quick list, of how I rank the teams.

1. Hødd (when they went down last year, they sold no one, and brought a couple premier league players) (westcoast, between Trondheim and Bergen)

2. Aalesund(a team with great resources, lost in the qualifiers last season)(westcoast, between Trondheim and Bergen)

3. Lofoten(nearly survived in the first division last year, has had a great season) (north)

4. Skjetten(has artificial grass on their stadium, ands always wins at home, played in the 1st division last year) (very close to oslo)

5. Ørn Horten(lost in the qualifiers last season) (near oslo, eastern norway)

6. FF Lillehammer (Faaberg and Lillehammer has joined forces and can get promotion in their first season) (eastern norway, held the winter olympics)

7. Mandalskameratene (south)

8. Stålkameratene (north)

2 hours to go... I can't wait... who will Aalesund face?

Mandalskameratene- Lofoten
Aalesund- Skjetten
Stålkameratene- Hødd
Lillehammer- Ørn Horten

Aalesund will face Skjetten, they played in the first division last year, and has artificial grass on their stadium. It will be tough. But at least, with me living in Oslo, I will get to see one of the two matches.

Otherwise, Hødd and Lofoten should ease on through, with Lillehammer - Ørn Horten being a tight encounter, that can end with victory to both.

My tip; Lofoten, Aalesund, Hødd and FF Lillehammer.

Reports say that the Skjetten coach was very diasppointed about meeting Aafk, while the Aafk coach was more focused on the fact that Aafk will play their last match away, and on artificial grass, just like last year. In cups it is normally considered to be a little bit better to open away from home.

I live in Oslo. huh?? You don't know where Aalesund is? Aalesund is on the westcoast between Trondheim and Bergen, actually the biggest city between the two. Riise is from Aalesund, from Hessa, close to the center of the town. Hessa and Skarbøvik is almost the same place, and Skarbøvik was the other top team in this years div2 group, but Riise always played for Aalesund.

Now they all say that his brother who is 17 I think, is a much bigger talent!! He also plays for Aalesund. :)

I am 21, I used to play for a team called Aksla, but quit when I was 15. Since then I have played a lot with friends, and I must say that if I trained a bit more, I would probably be the central midfielder of Norway, or at least Rosenborg. :D

Aalesund won 1-0, after a goal by Nils Ottar Sandø after 43 mins. (at the end of last season, AaFK bought him from Skarbøvik, he is the most expencive player that has gone to a div.2 club in norway ever)

In the first half Aalesund dominated with 3-4 huge chances. At the end of the half they finally managed to score that vital goal, but couldn't produce the same in the second half, which drifted away into a battle of who could care less. Is this good enough?? Only time will tell.

The other promotion matches ended;

Mandalskam. - FK Lofoten - 4-0
Stålkam. - Hødd - 1-1
FF Lillehammer - Ørn Horten - 3-1

The last two as expected, but Mandal must have put on a great show at home, and now look set to celebrate the clubs biggest success of all time, next weekend.

We won!!!! Promotion!!!!!!! Yes, yes, yes!!!!!!!

The match ended 1-1, but Aalesund was by far the better team. A wounderful goal in the beginning of the second half brought us up to 0-1, a shot from 17m squeesed into the right top corner by Trond Fredriksen. Magnificent.

Even if we played away from home, the crowd far clearly on our side, with travellers from Aalesund making a LOT of noise. As the Aafk players were called the crowd was steaming, when the Skjetten players were called, all you could hear was the boos from the Aalkesund crowd. Naturally when we scored the crowd exploded.

1-1. 2-1 to Aalesund on aggregate.

The other matches ended:

Fk Lofoten - Mandalskam. - 2-1 (1-6)
Ørn Horten - Ff Lillehammer - 2-0 (3-3) Ørn up on away-goals
Hødd - Stålkam. - 6-1 (7-2)

One player after another is getting sacked, loyal players that have been in the club for year, following the team to the second divison. The biggest surprise have not been the new expencive signings that Aalesund has made to prepare for fighting in the top of the first division, but the fact that 6 younger players were "promoted" to the full time squad, while star player :star: Glenn Hartmann :star: were dropped(!!) from the squad because he isn't good enough!!! BS!!! :growl: Now local first divison rivals Hødd  are on fire because they can pick him up for free.

New coach Normark has a LOT to prove when he does things like this, and he better live up to the expectations. Hartmann is good enough to play in the Norwegian premier league, so Aalesund might if the mean business be a real contender next year. But I fear this will be bad for the club, dropping good players, bringing in several new "star" players from premier league and first divison clubs and rookies from their own system, plus a few local players. Will they mix? It will be a strange mix of players.

I guess the team will look something like this. 4/24 new signed local players, 10/24 old players(not of age, but those who have been in the club a while), 6/24 rookies, and 4/24 new signings from non local clubs.

Hmmm.....you better find a book about the club then...or better yet I can send you one;) I will have you studying so hard that at the end you will know who scored in the matches in the sixties...that is if you keep replying to my Aalesund threads.

Mr. Aalesund as we call him, is Erling Ytterland. He just got a new contract, so he will play next year as well. He has played in the norwegian premier league, for both VIF and Hamar-Kameratene(Ham-Kam). He is the only player that has; "sleng på stilongsen". His legs are so thin that his long underwear can be used as a dress:)

He often thinks the referee does silly things, and then he turns to the crowd and yells out funny things to them.

His nickname is "Yttis".

This is lesson number one.

1 Aalesund 22 18 2 2 81 - 16 56
2 Skarbøvik 22 17 3 2 65 - 21 54
3 Clausenengen 22 14 4 4 79 - 37 46
4 Molde 2 22 12 4 6 57 - 43 40
5 Spjelkavik 22 12 0 10 38 - 46 36
6 Rosenborg 2 22 11 1 10 46 - 40 34
7 Træff 22 9 4 9 49 - 35 31
8 Stranda 22 6 5 11 29 - 44 23
9 Orkla 22 5 5 12 30 - 62 20
10 Dahle 22 4 3 15 28 - 70 15
11 Tiller 22 4 3 15 39 - 82 15
12 Sunndal 22 2 2 18 25 - 70 8

Lesson number one, always believe in your team. Even when they do foolish things like go down to the second division when they are clearly big enough for the norwegian premier league.

This thread called, Aalesunds path to the first division was started when they had several vital matches left.
