Obviously, football is a passionate sport...and it has brought men to tears. :D...but what games?

For me:

I was a ****** when i was a kid for major tournaments involving England. :D So many do revolve around that...

EURO 1996 semi-final - Eng vs Ger - The dramatic penos. reduced me to tears, after Muller's goal won it for them. I was so young and the whole country was in Football fever.

WC 1998 R16 - Eng vs Arg - Another penos, after a 2-2...a bastard penos. saw Argies through. Devastating.

Euro 2000 - Eng vs Romania - I think England were either 1-0 or 2-0 up but Romania ended up winning and eliminating England...tears were shed.

CL Final 2001 - Valencia vs Bayern - I was only a VCF fan for a bit but a connection was made and i did cry over the peno. defeat at the end.

EURO 2004 Quarter-Final - Eng vs Portugal - Another awful peno. shoot-out defeat...had me in tears.

CL Quarter-Final 2007 - Valencia vs Chelsea - I was drunk TBF, but the Essien last second winning goal did make me cry. :( If i was sober, i most likely wouldn't have...but i did.

What about everyone else?

The day Gerrard put his transfer request in. I went to bed in tears :(. Woke up to the happiest news ever :)

As for a football game, i remember crying when Liverpool drew 4-4 at Stamford Bridge in the CL. It was out of pride though.

Have never cried over England and probably never will.

WC 1990 Cameroun v Lineker 2-3
Possibly WC qual 1993: Spain v Denmark 1-0. I honestly don't remember if I shed a tear, but I was pretty unhappy, especially after my dad, who hadn't watched the game and doesn't care about football, relativised, like, "it's football, who cares ffs".

Now... I'm a man. Old (born '83). :groan:

I cried twice in all these years despite constant disappointments.

First time was in 1998 when Holland knocked Yugoslavia out after that late Davids goal. Ironically I didn't cry at all 2 years later after the 6-1 which I witnessed in the stadium.

Second time was last year at the WC when Milan Jovanovic scored the 1-0 against Germany. Difference obviously was that these were tears of joy. :proud:

Crying is for **** obviously, but everyone gets 3 times IMO. So let's hope my third is after our WC win in 2014. :hopeful:

This is also the only time I ever cried because of football. Man was that heartbreaking. I remember beeing in 8th grade and comming to school everybody was joking around with me because I was a loadmouth who always said Yugoslavia would win. I was embarresed to go to school. I couldve killed Mijatovic for missing that penalty.

The 1-0 goal Lane scored was also an intense moment of happines but I have never creid tears of joy.

I cried some when Italy lost in the final in 2000. Same with when Italy was ****ed over by the heroin addicted ref in 2002. By 2004 I had wizened up and just expected Italy to mess it all up.

2006 of course was a huge surprise. :)

The Treble! :proud:

I suppose the 6-0 defeat against Milan might have brought me to tears if I had witnessed it. But I didn't know it was played on a friday and when I read the result in the paper on the saturday I assumed it was a typo or that I was still drunk and couldn't read it properly.

The game shouldn't count though as I didn't watch it.

1994 WC final, when Roberto Baggio, my childhood hero, missed what turned out to be the deciding penalty. :(
