reaction from norway and spain:

But the draw dismayed Norwegian coach Nils Johan Semb.

"This will be extremely challenging," he told Norwegian TV2. "We will have to work extremely hard. But nothing is impossible."

Spain centre back Ivan Helguera told Spanish state radio that Norway would be tough to beat.

"They close up well and they have a lot of height up front," he said. "There were more difficult teams in the draw, though, so it's fine."

Very interesting match. As I support favourites Czech republic and Italy I have to believe that Spain will be relegated. Spanish are my most non-popular team so I really hope Norway (Romania might have been more dangerous team) can beat Spain. But my prediction:

Spain - Norway 2-0
Norway - Spain 1-1

norway found it tough to score goals even against minnows like luxembourg. their group turned out to be harder than previously thought with bosnia being right in the thick of things. with norways style of play, its hard to see them scoring many goals. so theyll need to rely on defence and counter attack. spain has a strong offence, theyre an offence minded team so itll be hard for norway to stop them. by the same token, that offence mindset leaves them vulnerable to the counter attack and their defence is good, but nothing exceptional.

The problem with Norway is playing against bad sides that don't attack as much and can't control the game. Against a team like Spain, Norway is at their "best" (or worst, all depending if you like destructive defensive style or attractive attacking football). They can lay low and have a compact defense, then counter attack with fast forward runs or long balls. It worked well in the Euro2000, and it might very well work again.

I think Spain will be a better team over two games though, in a single game anything can happen, but Spain got the skills to outplay most European teams on a good day. Norway doesn't.

I hope that either Norway get's an untolerably lucky victory or that Spain absolute hammers them :D .

Being a Dane who supports Italy also- there are really two very different opportunities for fun here.

But... in the end I would be sad if Spain was not there, because it's a good team to watch. And they should have more than enough to beat Norway at it's present level.

Sounds a lot like my post in the Nordic forum :D

It would be great fun to see Norway lose like 7-0 in the first match. The Norwegian football association would have to realize that getting a decent NT coach who understands football, not just likes ruining it, is a smart alternative.

I hope Norway gets to Portugal, of course, but it'd be a sad day for European football if it happens.

7-0 Jinxter :D ? That would be a BLAST  .

I think Morten Olsen would reach Nirvana instantaneously... as long as we don't get Spain in our group in Potugal of course, since they're simply our nemesis :scared: .

Luigi: Throw punches... and especially at me... how come  ?

Spain should make this through (with due respect to Norway).

Spain - Norway = 3 - 0
Norway - Spain = 1 - 2

Just to add that Norway were gipped out of a Euro2000 1/4 final place by that same ref who gipped us (Yugo) out of at least a draw against Spain and this led to the elimination of the Norwegian squad (otherwise it would've been Yugo 1st and Norway 2nd in the group). I guess, however, that there is justice in the world, because it was Spain who was screwed over by a ref in the WC2002 1/4 final.

Though I think Spain will win this one, I wouldn't mind seeing them out. :)

Drillo doesn't really seem to be anybodys pal nowadays...

It's a strange mix of emotions here, as I wish Norway well, I wish Semb well, but I want Semb out as fast as possible. With our butthead tactics and the Carew thing, Semb just need to leave now.

I think it will be two pretty even games, at least concerning the score. With our defense and our wimpish tactics we will never lose 7-0 or anything like that.
Let's say:
Espana-Norge 2-0
Norge-Espana 0-0
