Do or die for both teams, Portugal will have to show why they were a consider a pre-tournament favorite while the Koreans have to demonstrate that they are mentally ready to take it to the next level.

Will be a exciting match.:)

But one of them will be out, barring mircle occur in the Poland - USA match...:depress:

i'm not gunno vote, because i'd like to keep things open, personally, i want to see both these teams to make it through but unfortunately it would take a miracle for that to happen
had SK won their match against USA (which they should because USA is crap) they won't be so screw, Portugal is on their way back so its gunno be a though match for SK, a win for either team will see the winner go through, a draw will see only SK go through, but if a miracle does happen and Poland beats the crap out of USA than SK will make it through even if they lose to Portugal

anyways, this is what i'm predicting, although i have to warn you that this prediction is a little crazy, in fact i'm so crazy that i'm willing to bet $10 on it (i don't have much money so $10 is alot for me) anyone want to take up the offer,
My Prediction:
Poland finally shows what they're made of
and so do USA(out of crap)
Poland 3-1 over USA
The last thing we want to see is another big name team packing their bags, like France. BUT you also have to keep in mind the fact that NEVER has a host nation in a World Cup missed the second round.
So if Poland wins: Portugal 2-1 SK , woohoo, both Portugal & SK make it through, which is what we all want to see
But if Poland loses (lets pray to God that doesn't happen): Portugal 2-2 SK , and Portugal will be the 2nd biggest departure

Well Poland have expressed that they feel they should give the Koreans a gift for the world cup for their hospitality(sp), but I still think Portugal and Korea may go through without USA.

A rse-boy here is obviously a typical American moron, than again he might just be a plain classic moron , as you can see from his display of stupidity. First of all, what makes you think i'm Australian, just cause i live in Australia instead of some
sh!t-house country like yours, doesn''t mean i'm Australian
Secondly i'm not like you, i don't have a screw up mind like yours, if u want to fantasize about men chasing after kangaroos, you go do that at your own time

South Korea vs Portugal

everybody here where i live is Portugal crazy. I would like to pick a team but i cant. I however, would like to see the Koreans win tomorow. They are hosting this tournament and have played extremely well i should say.

I would not mind to see a draw either. Portugal is good from what i hear and what i saw in their last game. The first game i dont know what hapenned. I think the US's Goal Keeper .. Friedel is pretty good.

Anyways, cherio.

World Cup Preview: South Korea-Portugal
Portugal - South Korea | News Archive

South Korea's 12th man (Allsport)
06/13/2002. BACKGROUND

South Korea will go in to their hotly anticipated showdown against Portugal knowing that a draw will be enough to see them through to the next round of the planet's biggest sporting event for the first time in their history. The Portuguese cannot rely on anything less than a win to advance, as the deservedly eliminated Poles certainly cannot be counted on to defeat the Americans. The stage is thus set for a fascinating 90 minutes of football, as a Portugal win over the co-hosts is far from the foregone conclusion that many might have expected before this tournament of shock results began.

Roared on by their fanatical home crowd, the Fighting Koreans have presented themselves as one of the surprise teams of the competition, impressing mightily with their high-voltage approach and refined technique. A historic 2-0 victory against Poland was followed by a hard-earned 1-1 tie against the US, which has put Guus Hiddink's warriors in a favourable position going into their final group game.

Despite the fact that a point will suffice, the Dutch coach has encouragingly revealed that he will not instruct his troops to play for a draw. "We don't have a team to just sit back and play counter-attack," said Hiddink. "That's not the nature of the Korean player."

The nature of the Portuguese player will be put to the test in Inchon on Friday, as Antonio Oliveira's side will be looking to complete the recovery from their humiliating opening loss to the Americans. If the three-goal final half-hour of their 4-0 win over Poland is anything to go by then the Iberians look more than worthy of a spot amongst the final 16, though it has to be said the total incompetence of their Eastern European opponents did serve to flatter them somewhat.

Oliveira made a crucial tactical adjustment in sacrificing an attacking midfielder in favour of an extra d-half after the bitter American lesson. The formational restructuring was born out of defensive considerations but ironically enabled Figo, Conceicao and Joao Pinto to concentrate their energy on contributing creatively rather than tracking back ?that to the supreme benefit of Portugal's hattrick hero from Monday, Pauleta.

The prolific Bordeaux striker will be hoping to have a couple more World Cup goals to his name by the time Friday night rolls around, which should prove enough to power Portugal through to the knockout stages. Once they have made it that far you would feel anything is possible for them. With the likes of Argentina, France and Holland absent from the final 16, the World Cup is very much up for grabs.

LATEST TEAM NEWS

Hiddink is expected to field the same XI that started the US game, bar the insertion of midfielder Lee Young-pyo into the lineup in place of the injured Park Ji-sung. Hwang Sun-Hong and Seol Ki-Hyeon are likely to remain the preferred strike partnership despite the inspired performance of super-sub Jung Hwan Ahn.

Portugal duo Abel Xavier and Paulo Sousa have recovered from injury and are available for selection against South Korea. Xavier is likely to come in for Nuno Frechaut who sprained his ankle this week, while Sousa may replace Armando Petit who has tendonitis in his knee. Otherwise the side is likely to be unchanged from the one that thrashed Poland 4-0 on Monday, except for the possible reintroduction of Rui Costa ?who came on to devastating affect against the Poles - to the side at the expense of the unfortunate Joao Pinto.

PROBABLE LINEUPS

South Korea (3-5-2): W. Lee ?M. Hong, J. Choi, T. Kim ?N. Kim, Y. Lee, E. Lee, S. Yoo, C. Song ?K. Seol, S. Hwang.

Portugal (4-5-1): Baia - Xavier, Costa, Couto, Rui Jorge - Bento, Petit, Figo, Joao Pinto, Conceicao - Pauleta.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Jung Hwan Ahn: South Korea's poster boy will be desperate for a start but will probably have to contend himself with continuing to bolster his sky-rocketing reputation from off the substitute's bench. The slippery Perugia attacker has been hugely impressive in his limited minutes during South Korea's first two games, and not just because he managed to net the all-important equalizer against the rival Americans with a famous header.

Pauleta: Portugal have waited a long time for a reliable goal-machine and they finally look to have found one in this man. The cold blooded 29-year-old was simply unstoppable during the 4-0 demolition of Poland and the South Korean defenders will have done extremely well if they manage to keep the Bordeaux bomber of the scoresheet.

PAST ENCOUNTERS

There have been no previous meetings between the two teams.
