Welcome to English media bais...:D

It's nothing new...it's very cringeworthy stuff...and above-all else shows their clear lack of knowledge on players but also teams outside of England. Gullit is now throughly anglofied...

Take no notice...

I remember during the World Cup the BBC hired Leonardo...he brought his knowledge of Italy on-board and the other BBC pundits continually tried to put down various nations through-out the competition only to be corrected by Leo on many occasions at times you could feel the awkwardness as it dawned on them Leo had out-knowledged them!

Also the same when Wilkins is in the studio of Sky. He normally defends Italian teams a little more and last year finally put down the old theory that all Italian teams do is defend. In fact he said the weakness of Italian teams now was their defence because they are more open, which is halfway true.

In the end the sad part is there are many viewers out there who do not know much about Italian football and so will assume what Souness and Gullit said is true.

I am sorry, but you can not have pundits on a show assuming Roma havent won anything in Totti's time when we have, assuming Totti lacks ambition and also saying Roma have no key individuals. Its funny really, we have 3 Brazilian internationals plus 1 more who has been, 5 Italian internationals plus about 3 or 4 which have been in the past and then a couple French internationals, a Ghanian international, a Chilean international, a Montenegran international and so on...

basically what Im saying is Mexes, De Rossi, Juan, Cicinho, Perrotta, Totti, Mancini, Giuly, Panucci... correct me if Im wrong, but these are hardly small time players. In fact Id say many of them are or have been one of the best of their position in Europe.

Anyway there is only one way to answer this guys and thats givingMan Utd a good match this time round and not embarassing ourselves again.

Anyone watching the ROma-Juve game on Channel 5?

They have excellently managed to recruit Marcotti for this game as the pundit and he just owned/Set the record straight with what Souness and Gullit said about Roma.

He basically said all of the stuff we have said on the forum in a much better journalistic way :)

Did he address them by names or just speak in general?

He didnt address them in names... he said something along the lines of "I've heard in some quarters of the British press this week..." because he was saying Totti isnt appreciated here in England for one reason or another...

Did Roma really won the title? I know they have, but it really has been an obscure year.

You don't have high profile players besides Totti that's for sure. Especially now that the aeroplane isnt flying anymore and Chivu has gone to Inter. Most of the players are benchwarmers or teamfillers at best for their national team. That even was the case with Totti to get the best out of Italy.

Besides that a lack of European succes and still being number 4 at best in Italy if you look at status and you see why people still dont know much about the team outside Italy.

Montella was huge for Roma, but Chivu never panned out for them. Was pretty dissapointing considering the expectations. Was at best very good to mostly decent, to worst a defensive liablitiy. And Mexes, De Rossi and Mancini are after Totti in contribution, THEN comes Chivu. Chivu might have been a high profile player in reputation, but he didnt play as one.

And check my teams list before you say I'm a bitter Roma fan (which the biased romanians would say without thinking).

C'mon, football is not played on paper. Roma plays some of the best football in Europe. If wankers like Souness knew anything he'd know the synergy and how they play on field is more important than what names are on the team sheet.

And you can say they don't have a lot of big names, but it's really besides the point. Just because people in England don't know them doesn't mean they aren't good, it's precisely this English myopia which everyone loathes about them.

I hope they bury Man Utd in Manchester, that'll teach these pillocks a lesson.

You are clueless like Souness and pround of it it seems.
Obscure year? When we won the Scudetto it was a great year, we also won the SuperCoppa after that against Fiorentina. We were playing amazing football as we are now.

Benchwarmers? BWAHAHA!
First of all... Totti was never in the benchwarmer situation for Italy, that's Dumb Thing #1 you said, second dumb thing, Chivu was only good in a mediocre champ like yours in Holland, because in the best champ in the world... he was alright... and actually many times made us Romanisti wonder WTF was he doing... Number 3.. Mexes and many other players like De Rossi, who btw, since you show ignorance and nothing more, was a key player for Lippi Q matches at age 23... are World Class players. I suggest you watch the games and then talk, or you're gonna sound stupid like the English.

the Dutch and Scottish you mean, the one Englishman on the Sky panel was Redknapp and he was defending Totti against Souness bullshit.
To be fair Richard Keys was aswelll even if he isnt really to have an opinion :D

Gullit or Souness didnt really answer Redknapp's question when he was saying how can he be a luxury when he just scored 26 Serie A goals? The only answer they came up with was... because he doesnt defend :wth:

As for Chivu being our 2nd best player :howler: In reputtion possibly, but Juan is better than him anyway, he can actually head the frikkin ball. As for benchwarmer NT players. Doni and Juan were major parts of Brazil's coppa success. Perrotta was an integral part of Italy's world cup success and De Rossi is now an Italy NT starter and so on...

Maybe De Rossi doesnt get the hype of some midfielders, but he is one of the best DM in the world.

I was speaking to my Dad about it yesterday, he said that some people used to say that Jimmy Greaves was a luxury player for England, despitre him scoring in almost every match he played, seems there has been daft c*nts in every era. :D
