Big game this weekend. Totti is at risk I guess after this match. I hope its nothing serious and that he will be ready for this.

Doni; Panucci, Mexes, Juan, Tonetto; Cicinho, De Rossi, Brighi, Perrotta; Totti (Giuly), Vucinic

or

Doni; Panucci, Mexes, Juan, Tonetto; De Rossi, Brighi; Cicinho, Perrotta, Mancini/Giuly; Totti/Vucinic

I hate this crap. Firstly a potential 60,000 match with Napoli allows only 27,000 in and obviously makes us suffer slightly and now we have no fans in Milan

I expect us to be cautious again like against Man Utd and Sporting, sit back and hit on the counter. I expect to see a different Milan from the one who lost to Empoli, they always play much better in the big games, but we have the weapons to hurt them. It would be really tough though.

In our games v Milan so far our formation has worked very well. However if Totti is injured we cant rely on the 4-2-3-1 IMO... Vucinic doesnt do the 1 like Totti which makes some of the rest of the players ineffectual. It would be better to change the individuals around a little. Maybe put Giuly preferably or Mancini up with Vucinic and play 4 in midfield (like we did tonight in the 2nd half)

If Totti is fit then we can play the usual style. Maybe just keep the team virtually the same, but including Perrotta of course. When is Taddei back?

All I know is Spalletti has some thinking to do, but we are hardly in a crisis, after all, we won tonight and showed a good mentality to do such a thing when not at our best. This match v Milan could prove our true metal. A point would satisfy me.

If Totti is injured, I would go with:

----------------------------Doni-----------------------
Panucci--------Mexes---------Juan------Cassetti
Cicinho-------De Rossi-----Perrotta------Tonetto
---------------------------------Mancini---------------
---------------------Vucinic----------------------------

If Totti makes it I would play the normal team :) If we were playing a smaller team I would have played vucinic with Totti, but for now it is difficult to change the normal formation in such big games. Hopefully Spalletti brings plan B along with him to the match, but if Totti is fit I'd start what I said in the above formation...

Doni; Panucci, Mexes, Juan, Tonetto; De Rossi, Brighi; Cicinho, Perrotta, Mancini/Giuly; Totti

Possibly Pizarro, but he is not in great form and his stupid risky passes could really hurt us with Kaka, Pirlo and Seedorf pulling the Milan strings. I hope for Milan to play another lacklustre game where they pass the ball around so slowly, but I doubt it... I fear a Milan which played against Man U last year.

Yes but Milan also won the Champions League with pretty much the same team. Its a team which rises to the big occasion (beat Shaktar tonight 4-1) and which rises against teams that allow them space. We must play a tight game, but make sure we take our chances on the counter.

Anyone know the injury updates for this game?

Taddei and Esposito are back to training with the ball, so they have a chance to play. Perrotta and Totti are in doubt, Aquilani's out.

The highlights I saw and the result of the Shaktar game were another proof it's not a good idea to play an open game against this Milan team. I am sure Spalletti realises this too and will choose a more conservative approach.

Brighi should play for sure unless both of Perrotta and Taddei manage to be fit in time. Pizarro should be benhced, he's in bad form. Or at least he should be moved forward to the Perrotta position if all the players with injury doubts can't make it.

But who knows, maybe Pizarro will surprise us and repeat his performance from January in the Coppa against Milan, which was he best game in our shirt IMO. Not likely, I know, but still...

Capitan Totti said:
Aquilani breaks easy... that is what sucks about him. He had such a good streak of games and then... done for the next 2 weeks at least.
No...there's nothing about Aquilani that sucks. If he liked to drown kittens in his tub for kicks, that still wouldn't suck. Because he's Aquilani.

I really can't see Spalletti playing anything outside the norm on such a big occasion with or without Totti, but lets just hope Totti is there because our whole system is based on him. Vucinic scored a great individual goal, but that aside v Sporting, the team looked lost for long periods. We really need Totti and even Perrotta to some extent there before we search for other alternatives.

You mostly need to have learned your lesson from the Inter game. Meaning no more naive football actually be able to adopt tactics and use your brains when faced with an obstacle for your at times naive football. Milan is a team with many many flaws, seeing them easily and taking advantage of them should be easy for any decent tactician, especially since Roma can be a much better team usually.

Well if we go to 10 men I hope Pizarro is not pressing the defenders in the opponents half

#24 ·
Yep lets just get Totti ready for Lazio and hope for the best here.

Doni; Panucci, Mexes, Juan, Tonetto; Pizarro, De Rossi, Perrotta; Taddei, Mancini; Vucinic

Perrotta to play a little more back and inside than as a left-mid though. Taddei and Mancini to support Vucinic in attack.
