Krylya Sovetov - AZ
Baník - Heerenveen
Monaco - Willem II

So one nice trip for Willem II, but surely should be over straight away for them. The other two should go through, although both games could prove tricky.

Yeah agree. Even if Monaco play averagely, they should still be far too good for Maaskants boys.

Can never be all too sure with Heerenveen after their exploits against Varteks a couple of years ago while with the new Russian money in football, Krylya Sovetov might hide a couple of talents.

Heerenveen 5 - Banik Ostrava 0

Looks like the later Dutch sides play, the better they do  :frustrat:

Lets hope that the u17s will continue the trait later tonight.

Good performance by them and on the right time too. They did well but not stopping an try to defend after the 3-0. They had the flow at that moment, so the luck too (with the 4th goal) and so they also boosted their confidence. Two quality goals by KJ it were btw. Hopefully they and AZ can get some more points in the group stages and later stages to get closer to the Portugese in the UEFA rankings. Who like us saw a big team (Sporting) crash out in the first round.

Yes, Heerenveen will face Dinamo with 3 strikers and is curious to see how Dinamo will react to that, as Romanian teams are used to playing against 2 strikers most of the time (they say).

Klaas Jan should def. score one

Heerenveen - CSKA

Match of the week for me and it probably will be the only game I'll watch. Really looking forward to this to see how the Friezen will do against them. The weather up north shouldn't frighten off the Russians but after their loss to Marseille, they'll have all to play for and hopefully we'll get to see Vagner Love and Daniel Carvalho in full flow.

Another 0-0 last night. A good result against the cup holder, but it remains tricky to get that at least that third spot in the group. KJ again had trouble of getting a chance at all and when the chances came for Heerenveen in the end, they fell to the wrong person (Bruggink). He could have left CSKA pointless again if he still showed some of the talent he had in the past. Only he looks past his best now. Not a starter any more for Heerenveen, despite being a big name signing last season. On the other hand Bosvelt showed that he still had it in him, 'buffeling' himself to the MOTM flowers.

Huge win today and IMO 3 breathtaking goals that are definately worth a download.

First good ol' Paultje Bosvelt puts it home from over 40 metres, then Huntelaar does a 'omhaal' and finally Samaras makes a fool out of the Groningen defender and goalie with a nice slalom.

Heerenveen 4-0 Groningen - Video

Great goals by Bosvelt, Huntelaar, and Samaras.

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar continues to impress each time. Another 2 goals in this one with a fantastic scissor-kick for his second goal.

He now has 11 goals in 13 games this season.

After tonight's surprise results in the group of Heerenveen there's just one place left and it's possible that UEFA-cup holder CSKA will finish last. Although after tonights result Heerenveen is last now. They will have to win next week aqainst Sofia and hope that Dinamo wont win against and at Marseille. To be pretty sure a two goal would be best then.

They still need to score that first goal in the group. With the current score in France a 1-0 is all they need. KJ needs to be sharper then and they also have to stay cautious at the back, cause Levski looks a decent team.

they've done it

so 4 it is   2 in the CL and 2 in the UEFA cup. Portugal our main rival for the place for where you'll be allowed to have 3 CL spots will only have Benfica in Europe now (kut Koeman :finger: fake spy).

2-1 in Marseille but wth Bucharest apparantly scoring at the same moment when (or perhaps just after  ) the ref blew his whistle after a Barthez blunder :D

Doesn't matter, Heerenveen are through
