GS are hosting another big team at the Ali Sami Yen stadium. After the 0-1 loss a few weeks ago against Fenerbahce we now meet up with Besiktas. It looks like BJK are finding their form again after putting down convincing wins against Vestel and Manisa. They sure won't be pushovers but we aren't either. Considering the Fener match I'd say we have to play with more confidence. But that's easier said than done. I have a feeling this will be a very hard match. Let's hope this one has the atmosphere of a real derby.
Sukur looks injured so I hope we see the Umit-Necati duo up front again with Ilic behind them. Ergun might be out as well so Heinz could be making a return to the first eleven. Hope he doesn't make a mess out of it. We have one big loss and that is Tomas. Our options are limited. If Ergun is injured for the match, Orhan will play in Ergun's spot and we will see Yalcin in Tomas' place. If Ergun can play we can put Orhan in Tomas' place which is what I'd prefer. I don't know what Yalçins skills are but one thing that is certain is his lack of match-fitness.
We won convincingly against Ankaraspor and I hope we can play in the same way at home.

BJK will play with Ibrahim Akin upfront. I'm not certain who he will partner up with. It could be Ailton, Veysel or Youla (who's back from injury iirc). Behind them Sergen or Tumer who are dangerous playmakers. Koray is a decent defensive midfielder and their defense ain't too bad either. I don't actually see a weak spot in this team for this match.

That's exactly the lineup I'd put out, except I don't think Hasan will make it for this match and Cihan is also a doubt. Also, Gerets seems to have something against Altan, so I'd be surprised if he got a chance in this match :irritate: .

Anyway, this will definitely be a tough match. Three or four weeks ago I would've said otherwise, but BJK are really starting to show some fairly impressive football under Tigana, and there's no doubting the quality they have in their side. However, as I always say, I'm still confident as long as Gerets puts out the best available XI :undecide: .....

We should win this, although BJK are going well in the last few weeks. We are more organized and BJK is very unpredictable and can play bad sometimes.

How is Yalcin doing? Poor guy, his first start and plays in a derby. Gerets should have used him more, and giving him some experience. But it is easy to say that afterwards...

We played quite well in the first half but our defence looks horrible at set pieces. There were no defenders near Toraman when he scored his 2nd goal.

Crappy game with very poor defenses, hence the many goal chances.

Empty stands....no presidents....besiktas bus attacked....one bjk fan stabbed by a 15 year old gs fan...is this what you want in a derby game?

I prefer the atmosphere around the last derby between gs and FB....

Even though the quality sucks it's an entertaining game considering the many goal chances...
