For me it's not a problem to have Nedelcu in the U21. He can help them and there is plenty of time to integrate him in the senior team; we won't play the WC after all.

Mateiu is in good form. Maybe he deserved a try instead of the veteran Hoban.

 

That's a good point actually, as long as he integrated for the euros qualifiers, sure. It's more competitive U21s now anyway and he can help them you're right. Yeah I thought the same we actually have a lot of CM options again ignored.. but Ionita Bancu Balasa and especially Budescu is encouraging. I've been asking for Bancu for a long time now lol

Now players we will hopefully see back in the NT in the future or at least considered in friendlies... given form and fitness are good.

Abroad: Maxim, Stoian, Rotariu, Torje, Vatajelu, Tosca, Puscas, Ivan, Bourceanu, etc

Domestic: Nedelcu, Bumba, Mateiu, Anton, Nistor (almost impossible under Contra tbh, but not end of the world), Mitrita, Man, Burlacu, Manea, Tudorie, Chelaru, Chitu, F. Tanase, A. Muresan, Nedelcearu, Olteanu, etc. I know many should confirm for U21s first, but just a thought.

I'm sure I'm forgetting some. And who knows if guys like Dragomir, Pascanu, Micovschi, and Morutan could skyrocket in a year or two could be options for at least U21/seniors in the near future. Same for guys like L. Fulop that injured for some time but have great potential if they hit the ground running when they return. Gardos is a very sad case... and not so young anymore.

Probably shouldn't ask this, but do you guys have predictions for Contra's approach in this match and potential lineups? Looking at his abroad selections I know I shouldn't ever get my hopes up with this team but maybe he is not entirely foolish.. I don't know what to think anymore lol

In all seriousness, he’s a decent striker for Liga I. I’d still rather see Alibec (obviously) and Puscas ahead of him in normal conditions.. but we aren’t rich in striker options behind Andone and Alibec atm. Man (even though specially strong as RW, AM/SS too), Burlacu, and Coman interesting for the future. Adrian Petre too if he moves up in/from Denmark.

Regarding the future CBs, there's Farcas, Pascanu, Boboc, Dima, C. Baluta, etc who looks promising, but not for some time yet.



In the nearer future, thinks look tougher with not many great CB options playing regularly. The younger players we have Balasa (at least he was finally called, hopefully used), Nedelcearu, Tiru, Hodorogea, Horj, Miron, Manea (more RB), Marc.. for older, there is Larie, Gaman, and Tosca instead of Grigore and Moti types, not great options but still better. There's (even younger tbh) guys like Harut and Ghita who don't get any minutes in Liga I though.



And if Gardos ever recovers from his disaster, even in a smaller league and plays ok, there's that.. but I have doubts.



Probably in the next 1-2 years, we could see our options something like:

Chiriches, Balasa, Tiru, Nedelcearu, Horj, Gaman, Farcas/Pascanu (unlikely but even Manea got capped at 16..)



For RB btw I think behind Benzar we could maybe look at Mogos (Ascoli)
