MADRID, March 29 (DS) - According to the Spanish "AS", Real Madrid are interested in the Betis midfielder Joaquin Sanchez Rodriguez, who is presently hunted by a number of European leading clubs.
The Royal Club expressed interest in Joaquin following the reports linking Luis Figo with a move to one of the Premiership clubs.
Meanwhile, Joaquin's current contract runs out in 2006 and the officials of Betis rated the midfielder at $50ml.
Joaquin commented on his possible move to the Royal Club:
"Real Madrid have always been my dear dream. I think that any player dreams of playing in the leading clubs, who fight for the trophies in the national championship and Champions League. However, I want to underscore that I do not consider Betis to be a bad club, just on the contrary."

He could be a great replacement for Figo in a few years i believe, i have been very impressed with him.

However, its way too early to speak about Figo's replacements, and Joaquin has put in only ONE good season. I hope he can continue to develop his game.

Joaquin is a great player, no doubts about that. He has great passes, is dangerous in front of goal and he has those blistering skills which sees him go past just about any defender in the world. The question is: do we really want to splash out that kind of money for him when we have Julio Alvarez (Racing loan), Valdo and Ernesto fresh out of la cantera?

Alvarez is as dangerous in front of goal, Valdo has great passes and Ernesto, well he is the most technical youngster I have seen in years. It remainst to be seen, though, if any of these are going to be as good as Joaquin, already a full international.

Why not wait and see? This is not the spanish way, I know, but still....

laoer: Gerard is still a great talent, but he has been plagued by injuries`. As for Farinós, well, many spaniards find it difficult to adjust in Italy. Mendieta, Javi Moreno, José Mari...

Gerard's recovery would help his fixed position on the barca 11? Xavi and Cocu even Puyol have booked the defence midfirld earlier.let alone Farinos.even Cuper's coming dosent mean the start for the talented guy.

if you think the 2 samples couldnt explain persuadably.ok,take a look to Saviola and Amair.i dare to say spanish spectators would be easy to forget them 2 when they are off pitch.but have you recalled the days they were in argentina?how resounding!:sign:

yes,i agree to rent some young talents to other clubs for earning experiences much as we do to Alvarez.but what's the result? we release Eto'o to Marlloca.and when would we come to Alvarez?

young talents do not accord with Perez's ambition and club design.we must know it clearly.

Iam pretty sure Peréz way of handling Real is to let established world superstars play in the starting 11 and then to let homegrown (which would preferably be from the youth ranks) be backup. That way Real Madrid is a strong brand and not just a rich team which buys it way to glory (but which club doesnt these days  )

Joaquin can just as Lestat said, be a good replacement for Figo in the far future, but he has to keep developing and most important prove he isnt just a "one season wonder"....

And about Serie A and spaniards moving there.....Simple doesnt work, Serie A is as good for our players as a desert is for a fish...

The club's policy is always to promote and use the best youngsters if they have the potential. I think Eto'o suffered in the case of his playing position (which might not complement our squad) and maybe also him being non-Spanish, and at a time when Perez needed some $$$ to recurr for his mega sales.

Not to mention that Eto'o has a "difficult personality"...The club was not eager to risk anymore wardrobe nois after the Anelka-case.

Come on, let's be realistic;) There's no way we're gonn abring in someone as talented, to warm the bench. We already have more than enough back-up in the likes of McManaman, Julio Alvarez and Geremi. Not to mention Minambres who would do just fine there too.

Plus the price is way too high for someone so unproven.
Joaquin sets the vcurrent Betis apart from most La Liga sides, and i want to see that magical Betis for at least another season:star:
