Well we can't put it in a group section as it isn't a group game so i'll put it here, someone move it if its in the wrong place.

So its this Thursday, and isn't every England fan getting pumped. It's gonna be a great match. The atmosphere will be great. Portugal are the home team, and we always have the best fans, because we are the best ;) .

The match is going to have many battles, most glaring is Portugal's son Cristiano Ronaldo vs. England's new hero Wayne Rooney. If you haven't heard of Roonimania, then where have you been. .

Personally, I'm expecting a big game out of Paul Scholes after his goal. Against the Croats, he was a different player after that goal. Steven Gerrad and Lampard should hopefully perform and David Beckham needs a good game. Luis Figo seems to have had a kick up the backside, and I don't agree with those who say he isn't a quality player, as its evdient he is.

COME ON ENGLAND!

So far England have done what they have had to do, mainly due to the form of Wayne Rooney.

Portugal have not looked great but at least now they are playing their best team with Deco and Ronaldo coming in for Rui Costa (sad to see him playing like he did in the first game) and Simao.

Overall the game looks pretty even to me and the idiots who are saying Figo is past it hopefully will get the shock of their lives. The man has had a hard and dissapointing season but against England expect him to shine.

England worry me... on crosses they look nothing short of awful. On the other hand Portugal have two great deliverers of the ball in Figo and Ronaldo... unfortunatley it seems that they will only have Pauleta or Nuno Gomes to try and capitalise on their supply

England is slightly better, but if they go into xtratime or penalties, the home team will advance to semis.

It expect a very tight game.

Portugal showed something against Spain - sheer determination in a do or die situation. You can say they've already played an elimination match and won. Figo & Co. know this is their last chance. They won't fail again - at least not yet.

You could also argue that England showed determination when they came from behind against Croatia. Rooney, Gerrad and Scholes as well as Cole did their best too get England back in the game.

I feel people actually fail to see how good England has been. They were really unlucky to loose against France, they achieved an impressive scoreline against the Swiss without playing very good, and they tottaly destroyed Croatia. I feel that if they manage a combination of their defencive performance against France with the effectivness they displayed against Switzerland and Croatia, they will go through.

Portugal is a moody team. But they have the home advantage.

Nitro, yes that is true but Portugal was in more dire straits...a draw wouldn't it done it for them (but it would've been enough for their opponnents), and I think you'd agree Spain is a far more illustrious opponnent than Croatia has been the past few years. On the other hand, England sure did destroy Croatia and they played marvellous passing & rapid football that game. This game will be close, but I feel so much is resting on Rooney and this kid is still inexperienced...while on the other hand Portugal has home advantage (which might be looked at in a bad way too - a lot of pressure) and an experienced squad (well I suppose the rest of England's squad is pretty experienced too). Portugal are a moody team, and if they fire up their passions I don't think England can stop them...however it will be a tough well-fought and hopefully interesting game and it won't be a surprise to see either team in the semifinals.

Portugal, if they play as they have and England ditto, will have big problems scoring.
But so will England. At least from organized build up, as Costinha-Maniche are GREAT at breaking up play and Carvalho-Andrade is an awesome center pairing.

I think it'll be close, with Portuguese posession and English resolve. Game decided by a moment of magic from Deco.

I voted England.

A tough game ahead. I expect lots of goals and maybe even penalties have to decide. In the end, England is the stronger team.

But I sure as hell hope Portugal will win the game.

Tough game to predict but it has the ingredients to be a classic match. I'd be cheering for Portugal as I always prefer the team that actually plays football rather than destroying it. So all in all, for tomorrow, FORCA PORTUGAL!!!

Cheers;)

I just can't see England winning this match.. :sob: How many miracles can we hope for? We've already had 2 with our wins over Switzerland and Croatia.. :( Enjoy the semi finals Portugal..
Darn I love this attitude...pessimism wins (just attitude, not the action) and we won't complain when proven wrong either. :)

Now Rooney is the topscorer, would love to see him score more, just to prevent a player I dislike from taking that title :D

I think England is a better team and I wish them the victory, but I fear that Eriksson shows his ultradefensive side and that would be a big mistake... that's what happened to Spain. England has more resources than Portugal, if England pressures them, Portugal will fall. But if they have the ball, Figo, Deco, Ronaldo or anyone up front will score soon or later.
