Wow amazing stadiums

The 30 minutes from Bahrain part is primarily dependent on building the Bahraini-Qatari Friendship bridge which still is in its early stages. Pity that most of the stadium in the regular Q-league are half empty but with the WC fans from all over the world can use Bahrain and U.A.E as alternative points of arrival to Qatar.

Correct my ignorance but the weather conditions would make for a dreadful tournament. Also could this tiny country cope with a population increase of up to 50%?

..............2022=USA for sure, though obviously increasing American influence/power on football is the worst possible thing for the sport.

This is so ****ing wrong and so ****ing typical; in the first paragraph you are making a very good point, based on a very basic fact, weather, and then the area and population of the country with the expected number of fans arriving from all over the world... etc, all pure objective FACTS; but you are preceding it with a "correct my ignorance", humbling yourself to no limit not to insult somebody with these facts (which is sadly funny to have people insulted by facts).

Then your next paragraph which is not only BS but also vague, you spew it so arrogantly as it is a proven fact, may I know why? just because it is politically correct to be anti-American? I don't give a damn about America but I hate BS and your post if full of it.

Now about the thread; world cup should be played in a "place", and Qatar is a "nowhere" on the football map, Qatar doesn't exist on football map. In fact Qatar is a whore country who would sell their flag and all their dignity, that is if they have any left, to any kid in South America who can pull some tricks and is articulate enough to tell them he will take them to the world cup.
I don't follow Asian football anymore but apparently they have figured out luring little South American kids won't take them to the world cup, instead they are focusing on building stadiums to lure FIFA, and don't be surprised if they build mega stadiums and get them filled with slaves from the Indian subcontinent, they are very good at that.

What Qatari NT has to do with Qatar's bid for the WC? Qatar as a country as small as it is, are developing on rapid basis, multicultural society and foreigners there are by big numbers and living in a really good life inspite of the very warm weather which is an obstacle that can be overcome so easily with closed stadiums and Qatar can do that.

Some of you guys just love to speak out of their arses.

2022 is coming to Australia :hopeful:

That's where I'd say.

2018 - England
2022 - Australia
2026 - US
2030 - Back to Europe. Most likely Spain or Spain/Portugal joint bid.

First of all, whether it's Qatar or anywhere in this region, having a world cup during June-July is absolutely CRIMINAL if played outdoor in infernal temperatures.

I just stepped outside, the clouds are blocking the sun here in Dubai, and I still got dizzy from the heat. It's not normal. Just two weeks ago I attended a local football match at night, here in Dubai, and we were all sweating.

Unless the plans are for Indoor air-conditioned stadia...and that probably has its own environmental concerns...

As for Qatar the country itself - it's boring, there's nothing to do there. With all due respect to Qatar and Qataris...it's a small place and there is literally nothing to do there.

My brother has lived there for four years, and every month he goes on vacation either to Beirut or visits me here in Dubai. Yes, it's that bad.

Rhizoid,

I believe the middle east deserves to host the cup. The countries where the weather is good to host are poor and can't afford to host it (Jordan, Lebanon and Syria), Egypt, Iran and Gulf countries are all unbearably hot during summer and I doubt Europeans can take the heat of Cairo, Aswan, etc.

As for Qatar to bid for it, it took a lot of guts. They have all the resources to host the cup and organize it properly. I have been to Doha 4 times now and I do feel good to go there and stay a couple of days - week.

There are a lot of places to go to in Doha, I do not know about your brother but I have a blast each time I go there.

Now, as an environment, I think it is really good to host a WC. The weather is absolutely crap, warm and humidity, however, indoor stadiums are the solution and they will do that as usual, perfectly.

I have so many admiration for Qatar as a state, I do not respect all this sporting nationalising but they are developing their country in rapid basis and will become even better than Dubai in few years.

Man the problem in Egypt is FAAAR from being the weather ... the problem is that we dont have enough stadiums to host such events ... we have got Cairo Stadium (74000+) and Borg El Arab (86000+) thats all and El Ahly is supposed to build new stadium in 6th of October city 40000+ ... that leaves us with 3 stadiums capable only ... no damn way... we have everything there to host it (cities, hotels and you would never get bored in Egypt seriously... alot of stuff to do) but the Stadiums which is the most important thing

In June the weather is damn hot in the morning, but @ night thats not the case ... it might be hot still but not THAT HOT (23 C - 30C Max at night) ... and nothing compared to Dubai and KSA ...etc

as for Qatar ... I heard its too boring honestly I wish them luck though but I doubt

some of the games in 1994 world cup were played in 40 degrees heat...

also Qatar said all stadiums will have a roof and will have huge coolers on the inside to maintain average temps...

Aside from the obviously hot summer day and incredibly humid nights. Doha has a lot to offer :rollani: As for the infrastructure for hosting such tournament, Qatar has its neighbours (Bahrain and U.A.E) for support too. a 30 minute car ride from Bahrain to Doha is feasible (A rail line is also in the works from Bahrain to Doha) and a 40-45 airplane ride from Dubai and word has it that from Abu Dhabi you could catch a ferry across to the stadia. Only problem so far is the weather which with climate controlled stadiums is going to be dealt with.

What does the Qatari national team naturalization policy have to do with Qatar hosting the tournament? Some people just need an excuse to criticize

I would love to know what does they have to offer, we all know they have money but what else apart from that?

I brought up their national team to point out the fact that they are not a footballing nation like Iran is, or Egypt is in the region. Kuwait is almost Qatar's size but they are a footballing nation and they do have history, and it is for that reason they have the pride not to do what Qatar is doing or trying to do. The clubs are doing worse for that matter, they spend loads of money and yet succk in AFC.

A nation who doesn't play football and doesn't watch football doesn't deserve to host the world cup.

Major football tournaments should not be hosted by corrupt authoritarian repressive regimes.

Antarctica it is then, or give it to Fiji before it sinks into the sea.

Australia deserves to host the WC before the US again

Australia has a history of hosting big tournaments (eg. Sydney Olympics, 2006 Cth Games, 2003 Rugby WC etc.), they have good stadiums as is and will build more by the time of any WC, it will be winter and more comfortable for the players, it is a multicultural country and nearly every finalist will have support etc.
