Laporta on press conference, talking to the fans:

"We're going to apply the internal discipline code very seriously and behaviors that lack the required profesionality will not be tolerated.

We already decided the players who will leave and the ones who will stay next season.

We will try to make a better physical preparation with the proposals of the medical team.

All the levels of the club were pushed by the inertia of the self-complacence and some players went beyond the levels, so the club will take meassures on this aspect.

I promise that we'll take actions that affect the compromise of the players, although we all know that all of us are responsibles of the final results of this season."

About the break in the locker room.

"We all heard rumours, but the president of Barcelona must look at the evidences and the truths. When people of your trust tell you what is going on, that the dinamic of the team is worrying, it was too late and our policy was to trust in the tecnical staff to provoke a reaction in the group, and this is why I consider us responsibles too.

Trying to stop the serious internal problems, the club had an excess of confidence, trusting that talent would overcome all the situations, but I highlight that the final decisions that will be taken are independent of the result of the season.

Knowing the problem and recognizing the break in the locker room, I recommend self-criticism and I bet for fixing the internal problems.

The Board will offer all the support to the coach and the rest of the tecnical staff to execute all the posible sanctions in case of lack of discipline or lack of profesionality. We have the power and we won't hesitate to use it.

We didn't intervine before because we thought talent will make the difference, but we already felt the first signals of preocupation when we lost in Monaca, when we all were on clouds for all the UEFA awards for the best defender, best forward, best player,...

We thought we could fix it, but we didn't meassure well the consequences and we hope we learned from the mistakes, because we consider that this "machine" is prepared to give more success."

About the incident with Eto'o in his explosive speech against players and coach

"We talked to the coach and he assured us that the group would fix the problem."

About the continuity of Ronaldinho and Eto'o

"We can announce an important renovation that will include the signings from 4 to 6 new players.

I won't talk about who goes and who stays now, but I can assure that Samuel Eto'o, Ronaldinho and Frank Rijkaard will continue next season. We count on them and all three already told us that they're willing to continue in the team.

We are looking for a left back, a central back, one or two midfielders and one striker, aside the players from the B team, like Krkic and Dos Santos, that will promote to the first team.

The intention is to show a deep renovation, but Eto'o and Ronaldinho are not on sale, because we want them both for the future. We understand that, hearing their opinions, they want to stay and, besides, we want them to continue".

"Rijkaard will continue too, he's got the highest motivation, an absolute knowledge of the problems of this team and he identificates his own errors too. Besides, all the members of the Board want his continuity. He wants to continue, he's motivated and willing that the new season start.

"We consider that the tecnical secretary, the tecnical staff and the locker room are deeply disappointed with the results of this season and the decisions on the future look for adjusting to make everything work fine.

"After a season without important titles, we must do a deep renovation. The Copa failure and the end of La Liga have been very painful.

"We didn't knew to identificate the size of the problems, but this is a lesson for the future. It's a must to adjust the machine to achive titles again".

About his 7 Cups speech

"I already heard that song many times. We always have the illusion of winning everything and next year we'll have the illusion of winning everything too, because we can't start the season without these wishes".

About Txiki and the tecnical staff.

"We are very happy with his job in the last four years. The tecnical secretary always took the sport decisions.

In the youth system, we'll take the needed decisions. We confirm the permanence of Alexanko in his place and the firing of Quique Costas, the B team coach.

We also are on the nationalization of Giovani Dos Santos to promote the player to the first team."

I am happy with the diagnose of the problems and I'm glad they see them too. I just hope, and only time will tell, that the words become action. It's needed to set an atmosphere of seriousness that was lost this season. I wish this wasn't just an act of demagogy to make the fans hear what we want to hear, because the club must be more exigent and serious with our players. They have the talent, but they have to use it.

I'm particularly happy with the confirmation of the permanence of Eto'o and Ronaldinho in the first squad and also about Rijkaard's continuity. Overall, I agree with Laporta when he says that this team need to adjust some of the pieces, because I don't think they are all shit and this is very far from the situation of the year 2003.

IMO, some changes in the middle-class, with good signings; and an impulse to the stars would make us have a great team next season again.

Keeping the key players and adding some new fresh blood, plus the talent of the kids of the B team, I think it's a good solution for our problems.

In any case, I already know we have the talent and the club only have to assure that they put it into practice. The club always is the most important, over any player, and they must make the footballers realize that they must work. It's important not to lose the perspective nor the nerves. A slow revolution is better than a total break and I hope Laporta puts his words into practice before wind take them away.

Interesting read. I guess I could criticize him for not fixing the problems if he noticed them in Monaco, but I'm just as guilty of the "everything will turn out well, look how good a team we have!" attitude, so I won't throw stones at Laporta.

What was needed was a board that had experience. This board has had success, but maybe there wasn't anyone who had experienced such a huge success and knew how to manage it, leave that moment in the past, and concern themself with the future of Barca. It seems all of us, and even the board fell in love with the quality of the team we saw last year and we didn't bother to notice that the machine needed a tune up.

Well as they say, hindsight is 20-20 and I applaud Laporta for having the gall to stand up and assume the errors and call for solutions from all levels. We'll see how much weight they hold the next season, but these things had to be said, that is for sure.

I think Deco is not mentioned only because there were no rumours of him leaving.

I hope that more discipline and seriousness will be really implemented. In a way we'll know soon if this will come true, maybe even before the start of the season. First sign would be if everyone will come on time to start preseason before going to Scotland.

Again in a way, those players and the coach gave us a lot, and deserve the second chance. I hope thay understand the meaning of a second chance, it's synonymous to the phrase "last chance", as there is no third chance.

Thanks for translation Koeman4, appreciated it!

Kind of disappointed that the board will keep Txiki around. I hope we make sure we keep Deco around, other than that I hope that this talk doesn't go in one ear and out the other, we gotta make sure that it will be implanted and no bull$hit will be taken inside the locker room!

We are looking for a left back, a central back, one or two midfielders and one striker,

Fvcking EMD is still trying to unsettle and spread rumours that it's not sure Eto'o will accept the authority of Frank Rijkaard and continue in Barça.

EMD start to deserve a boycott because their anti-Eto'o agenda is so evident that it's sickening.
Yes, I understand that. But can we all be sure that Samu stays now? This is getting more annoying each day.

I mean, if Laporta speaks in a press conference it must mean that he has spoken with all people involved, the players and Rijkaard? Right?

E9 and R10 stay Ramallets, for sure. If they don't get new issues aditionaly, for which I hope won't happen.

K4, I'm sorry for EMD, they received bad news from Laporta today. I heard that there were journalists who didn't managed to enter to the press conference. I hope it's not due to a lack of free place and they are those who work anti-Barca all year.

I'm happy to hear those words from Laporta, it comes in the perfect time, and with the prefect level of commetment we want from the president, now its time to look back and fix the last season low levels and make sure this mistake is learned from in the future.

about EMD I think its time Barcelona fans start tacking action against them, we had enough for self distruction years and moments that stick in history, and their Anti-Eto'o campaine is beyond ridecelous and sickning me for sure!

time to make the club stop them from doing so, even if it means kicking their journalists from the press confrinces and stop giving them exlosive interview with anyone related with the club, and I'm sure that will teach them a big lesson and a hard one.

Very honest appraisal by the president. At first reading, I was quite surprised to see him speak so openly, almost speaking like a fan, rather than an official. Almost no spin, it looks like, to me at least.

BUT. But I wish he just fired Neeskins. I wish he gave another (not so crucial) title to Twixi. And got more experienced better people to those positions. And I wish he had at least considered firing Rijkaard, and looked at other possible options. But hey, this is better than nothing.

4-6 new ones...thats quite much...but i like it!
I like it too if they do it right, and I don't think it's many at all. If you're keeping the core and only trimming the fat/fringes, 4-6 is fine so long as they can compete and are the right buys.

Well, one of Laporta's campaign promises was greater transparency. Could be some spin here, but I doubt it.

I did like some of the points he made, only time will tell if he can deliver the major things he said.

It's crazy locker room incidents getting public. Glad he mentioned that.

I would go for 4 new players + Santos + Krikic/Crosas/.... rather than 6+ Barca "B" kids.

So black list players :D - So its adios to Santi, Syl, Edmi, Guily, Belletti, Guddy, Savi then?. I doubt Motta will be sold. He is Frank's fav in UCL matches.

Did Arsenal announce there signings?.

Blaugrana and .Blau :pp who is the real one.
