I thought I started a thread where we can discuss the heritage of players all over the football world, almost like a trivia for those interested, just like the "Club History Thread" that was made sticky and gave us some great reading. Denny Landzaat who plays for Holland is half Indonesian.

Maybe Holland will get another one soon.

Salomon Kaloe (Ivorian) wants to have the Dutch nationality.
For now he has to wait a couple of years but it can come sooner.
If he gets it he will be guaranteed a place in the Dutch national team.

Russia (Current and Past)

Andrey Karyaka (Ukrainian)
Sergei Ignashevitch (Belarussian)
Sergei Semak (Ukrainian)
Alex Onopko (Ukrainian)
Oleg Salenko (Ukrainian)
Euvgeni Aldonin (From Ukraine but ethnic Russian)
Valery Karpin (From Estonia but ethnic Russian) (obviously)

Ukraine
Aliev ( Russian)
Milevsky (Belarussian)

Of course Russia and Ukraine both have players playing for them who were raised in Russia or Ukraine but are either full or part ethnic Russian or Ukrainian, like Voronin, Rebrov, Pavlyuchenko, Gusin, Gusev, Kirichenko, etc, etc.

Also 90% of Latvia's nt is ethnic Russian, and 25% of Estonia's NT is ethnic Russian, as well as many Russians or Ukrainians in the Kazakh and Uzbek sides.

The Mozambique players you listed for Portugal aren't technically "naturalized" because Mozambique was a part of Portugal back then. He was born in Mozambique, yes. They didn't have to go out and get any papers signed in order to become Portuguese, etc. as would be the case now. Same thing with Angola. Exception to Abel Xavier.

Some more players for Portugal though:
Derlei (Dynamo Moscow/Brazil) Not capped
Deivid (in process/Sporting/Brazil) Not capped

Petit of Benfica is half-French.

Also Rossi of Manchester United who is known to most as Italian is actually American-born.

whats the point of this? To have a go at France from the looks of it.

Italy:

Monti (Argentinian)
Orsi (Argentinian)
Guaita (Argentinian)
Demaria (Argentina)
Humberto Maschio (Argentina)
Omar Sivori (Argentina)

Theres a few more to be getting on with;)
There's stacks of them from Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay, but as far as I know anyone who's ever played for Italy has been of Italian descent, if not birth, so keep trying Fred :lala: ;)

Just foreign heritage? Okay.

Australia

John Aloisi - Italian
Ross Aloisi - Italian
Mark Viduka - Croatian
Marco Bresciano - Italian
Tim Cahill - Samoan
Vince Grella - Italian
Stan Lazaradis - Greek
Mark Schwarzer - German(?)
Zeljko Kalac - Croatian
Harry Kewell - English (I think he qualifies for citizenship)
Craig Moore - Scottish (citizenship)

That's just some. It's pretty hard to name many actual "Aussie" players in the national team, most of them are either second generation ethnic migrants or were born in Europe anyway.

but the point is, vaga old boy, they aren't actually Italian. They may have relatives with Italian blood, but fact is, a bloke born and raised in Argentina isn't just an Italian with a sombrero on :D Different country, different upbringing, obviously different type of coaching and training as they are better than anything produced in Italy in the same position (otherwise why would they be in the Italian team, and check out how many were in the wcup winning 1934 side;)).
