yes, but keep in mind that in 1920-1960s they had much more friendlies, test and mainly show games than today. especially the show games (as I would call them) were great sources of money. Fradi's south american tours in the 1930s were such, but also some games of the 1950s NT. inofficially as by FIFA, but the respective hosts (club teams or league or city selections etc) would pay greatly to see them play.

I stayed in South Shields for a few days many years ago... what I remember is desolate streets open to chilling winter winds. Depressing place.
