Here's my breakdown...

Early 90's: Roberto Baggio

Mid 90's: Romario

Late 90's: Ronaldo

You French fans make me laugh. Comparing Zidane to Ronaldo!:dazed: Everyone who is anyone in football or football journalism knows that Ronaldo is the best player of his generation.

I wouldn't even compare Ronaldo to Figo. Ronnie is a phenomena...Figo himself would never make comparisons.

Yeah...all the people who are more impressed by Strikers than playmakers...it is all the problem. Who would be more influential in a game: a striker or a playmaker?? Strikers are much more under the spotlights than playmakers( I don't even speak about goalkeepers...Kahn: golden ball  nope...Owen, a striker....).
Zizou is under the spotlight as a playmaker...do you see my point.

Ronaldo is, IMO, the best player in the late 90s.:)

paw;) ;)

Hmm, I can't deny RaĂşl has achieved great things with Madrid on a relative young age...they don't call Real, "RaĂşl Madrid'' for nothing...

but in my opinion Ronaldo (a 100% fit one that is) was the best player of the late 90's without a doubt...
He was the last real number one of football. Because back then, in his Barça days, when you would ask someone on the street for their favorite player they would all say Ronaldo!
And when you do the same now, some will say Zidane, other will say Rivaldo etc...that's what I mean with Ronaldo being the last real number one of football...

but don't worry, he'll come back to finish where he'd left soon...to conquer the world again! :fero:

i vote for Raul because he played from 1994 at 2000 and give a lot to the real Madrid and he's my favorite player .....but i'm surprise nobody votes for Batistuta and Romario is not even quoted while a guy like owen have him while he played only 2 years in the 90's ( and only one at a high level 98)

romario is certainly the best front zidane as regards the national teams

and for the teams of clubs i think Raul is the best

Ronaldo would have certainly been the best of 90's If we groups includes performances in national team and in team of clubs but he was wounded during almost 3 years so......

I know a lot of you will disagree, but I can't see how you can leave Roy Keane out of a list of best players of the 90s (especially if you've included Robbie Fowler).

I know I'm biased towrads my compatriot and he mightn't be as skillful, but for consistacy, commitment and leadership, not to mention a lot of medals, the Corkman deserves a place on the list.

Good point, you're right he does deserve to be on the list.

It's nice to see some people can judge a good player by his style (ie. signature) not because NIKE says so.

Zizou-master of the ball, maybe just maybe with the likes of Zizou, Rivaldo, and Rui Costa (not current form) the "maestro" will live.
