Hidetoshi Nakata is the one going under our judgement today.

The Japanese trequartista arrived from Roma for a good 18 million pounds this summer, but he has done little to justify his price or the hype about the move.Early in the season,he struggled with fitness problems, but even when he got past those, his performances have been notably sub-standart.He has scored twice, one sealing the home win over Brescia and his other goal was last week against Brodby.

Considering that Parma started the season with a 3-4-1-2,allowing him to have his place behind the strikers, supposed to be his favorite one, there are little excuses for Hide.Ulivieri attempted to use him as a left sided forward in a 3-4-3 but this lead to even worst performances for his side.Parma had the best game of the Ulivieri era at the 1-4 away demolistion of Utrech in the UEFa Cup,with Nakata being an unused sub.Passarella upon his arrival immediatelly benched Nakata but started him against Brodby and Roma, with Hide showing some very weak signs of improvement.

When he plays,he shows the occasional glimpse of quality and class, but for most of the time he struggles and wonders helpless in the field, while his passing leaves a lot to be desired.

As the January transfer season approaches, his future at Parma is unclear.Passarella probably fancies a 4-4-2 formation which leaves no place for Nakata, but its doubtfull whether the Tanzis will throw away the financial potential the tandem of Nakata+world cup in Japan could bring.

One thing is for sure,Nakata's season so far has been poor.Very poor...

I voted for so and so... I don't think he's been given a fair chance. We didn't play him where he want to play for many games at all. And now his confidence is on an all time low because of the bench... :(

Let's hope he recovers soon.

Allow me to say that his poor performance was probably caused due to the pressue he faced in Parma.

Let us recall when he played before arriving to Parma:

Perugia: We all know what a club Perugia is - little ambitions and where players play wihtout a lot of pressure because thei President is a crazy man and he may sell the players on the spot. However, Nakata playeed very well there.

Roma: He was the substitute of Totti; mainly he entered the game as his replacement; so again without a pressure since Totti was regarded a maestro della Serie A. Entering the game with such an attitude (wihout pressure) he performed great everyt time when given the ocassion.

He moved to Parma and he was to lead the club; just like Totti and Del Piero lead their respective teams.

I think Nakata has never been aware that the club management expected so much from him.

I am confident that he is a good player and he will show his reall potentials while in Parma.

He has been given a chance. He played both our pre cl games against Lille, a couple of Uefa cup games and the first 5-6 games in Serie A in his favoured position but he played bad, so it´s no wonder Ulivieri tried him in a 3-4-3 formation (and why shouldn´t he be able to perform there?). The last two games he has also played behind the two strikers so he has definitly nothing to complain about.

Well, I decided between bad and so and so. But finally I decided for bad, because sadly that's the way he's played.

But on the other side, he has fought and not complained. If you see him play, you notice that he really works hard and tries to play good, but it just won't work. I would be sad to see him go, but I guess he's had his chances, and with Passarella opting for a 4-4-2 there's not much place for him left.

He is a good player but his Parma performance has been BAD.
So I voted BAD.
:;
MOROVER sometimes I have saw that Nakata is lack of attitude.

I think Ortega must come back to Parma whether He has been an excellent Pasarella player in River Plate and Argentina National Team.

I voted so & so, because that's what he has been. As for Ortega, he's failed once, I doubt that it would work out again. So no to Ariel.

I casted a biased vote cause I couldn`t decide in between so-so or bad and I ended up voting for so-so. I think he is performing very poorly but there are some signs that he is slowly regaining his form.(maybe a little too late...) but I think he can still make an impact since the season is only half way. I don`t think he will be sold in the off season or Nakata wanting to transer is probably out of his mind.

cheers,

Now you know that Nakata was not too bad. What can Parma do without Nakata under C class coach? There are so many players to blame as much as Nakata. Just you tried to make Nakata a scape goat. Nakata should leave the decayed team as soon as possible. Which will leave earlier, Nakata or the C class coach?

In case you havent noticed,we do a poll every day for a different Parma player,so this is not an attempt to find a scapegoat. If Nakata plays bad, what do you want us to do? say he is good? he just isnt. When he starts to be good,we will say he is good.

Personally,I want him out.I'm quite sick of him.Ditto for Milosevic and I'm about to say the same for Cannavaro.

Well I guess wearing #10 for Parma and the money spent for him has taken the toll. But I don`t think he is to be the scape goat of the team. Since Pasarella took over Nakata hasn`t give much playing time. Maybe Nakata is out of form but during the last few losses in Serie A matches I think Nakata has only started the Roma match. And you know the losing goal came after Nakata has been subbed. Does any one out there has the stats for how many games Nakata has started and lost compared to Nakata not playing the game or coming in as a sub in losing game and a lost? I think there are more defeats in the Serie A matches without Nakata than with Nakata starting. ok ok so this maybe a biased opinion but I just wanted to say that Nakata isn`t entirely to blame. Today`s match against Atlanta was just horrible and one of the sad days of Parma....

I dont think anyone blames Nakata entirely for the situation we are into. That would be naive.

However,it is a fact that the trequartista position is one of the most important in the teams, and Micoud has done in 1/3 of Hide's minutes more than him.

Nakata is a great player, but he just doesnt play good for Parma and hence its no use for us to keep him and have him sucking in the pitch or rotting in the bench.Same thing for Savo.

I know perhaps patience and time is all he needs, but do you think right now we can afford to give him time? Had we been midtable, things would be different. But if we are to survive,we need to make some drastic moves. And Nakata will bring some money which will allow us to bring in some new players who can help more than him right now.

Let alone that with almost everyone who started bad at Parma, neither patience neither time did any good.Look at Amoroso and Savo.It seems whoever flops a bit he flops eternally at Parma... :(
