There's no way an, ahem, 'old soldier', like your good self will not pick up your season ticket Diav!
For what it's worth, I hope and pray that we have acquired the players needed to make us competitive in Serie A. I'm not too fussed about the UEFA Cup, its the league I want, I want Milan to take the Scudetto back from Inter.
Its so easy to appreciate why the fans are frustrated at our signing policy. Galliani and co specialise in high maintenance signings. Why go to the supermarket to buy a loaf of bread when you can have a second hand Mercedes?
I believe our squad is stronger than it was at this stage last season. Abbiati is good enough to solve our goalkeeping problems. Zambrotta is an improvement at RB and Janku is getting better and better all the time. The CB positions are a massive concern, if Nesta isn't available we are very weak in there. Kaladze is so unreliable, Bonera is workmanlike and the signing of Senderos doesn't inspire me at all.
We are strong in midfield, but still lack any real width. Flamini was a good piece of business. Gattuso, Ambrosini and Pirlo are all guys that we can rely on in any situation. I'd move on The Puma and Brocchi given half a chance. Seedorf is a great player who has been an integral part of our recent successes, but where wil he find a place in the team?
Up front we have Ronaldinho who could be the bargain of the century or the worst signing since Rivaldo, who can really predict how well his signing is going to turn out? Still, he sells shirts and season tickets and, so far, he has put a smile on the faces of many Milanista. Kaka is Kaka, the worlds best. Pippo is Super, he'll flirt in and out of things. Pato has so much resting on his young shoulders this season, I'm sure he is up to the demands we have of him. Will Borriello see much playing time, I can't see him putting up with a Jon Dahl Tommason type role.
As for Sheva, not for me I'm afraid. I so wish that he will prove me wrong, but very few players return to a former club and make a success of it.
All in all, we are stronger and I am sure we will stand up to Inter this season. Still, with our weakness at CB, we might need to win every game 5-4!
So Diav, I'm sure you'll be winging your way to San Siro every second Saturday/Sunday, just as you have for many years, many more to come. We'll see you for our first outing at the Derby match at the end of September, looking forward to the fireworks.
