We have a thread now for discussing other EPL clubs so this thread can be the little sister to that one just to show how knowledgeable we gooners are of the global game or not :pp

I have caught a few French Ligue 1 games and one Bundesliga 1 game so far this season and a couple of Champions League qualifying games second legs.

From the Frenchies Keita caught the eye playing for Lyon against Auxerre on day one. The best game so far for me to watch was Stuttgart against Schalke. Ended 2-2 good quality football and an even match. A young Croatian called Rakitic came on as substitute for Schalke and scored a great well-taken goal. Turned Meira the Portuguese centrehalf who looks a good player inside out. On his debut as well. The Croatians are raving about him on their forums and rightly so given that glimpse of him. Pander the fullback of Schalke is another player I like. Never see him having a bad game. Other players to look out for in the future from this game would be Tasic a young German centreback and Hilbert also German. Both play for Stuttgart.

We can also talk about other national teams on this thread when the fancy takes.

well Leyton Orient started off their campaign with a good win, possible promotion candidates?

I can see Orient going up and Spurs going down, would be good to get a little North/East London rivalry going next year.
Leyton-Orient :pp You have to cheapen the thread Jern:howler: No offence to the O's btw.

Anyway-

Favourite clubs abroad!

Italy- Sampdoria (played a 4 season long FM game with them)
Spain- Sevilla (FM again! I found Dani Alves when he was in SEvilla reverses, he was awesome)
Germany- Hamburg
France- Nantes
Holland- AZ

even if Madrid won four titles in one season they'd still want loads of new players the next season, they have a spoilt mentality at that club, if they had Kaka they'd want someone better.
Winning breeds higher expectations.

The Bernabeu want a spectacle every game.

you din't win anything for four years and you were still buying everything that moved.
Yeah, but those are the expectations because of a winning history. The fans won't put up for mediocrity. We just won our first league in four seasons and fired the damn manager. It's never good enough. Like you said, our club desperately want Kaka but if we got him and he played poorly for a game, everybody would want Cesc or Cristiano Ronaldo next. It's a bad habit, but it's reality.

:howler: YOU WATCH THAT!?! :howler:

My girlfriend watches that show sometimes. Sweet 16 or Super 16 or something like that with the ridiculously rich daddies bringing horses and famous singers and crap for their dauthers' birthdays.

Celtic got a good 1-1 draw in Moscow against Spartak. The game had plenty of incidents and the goals came both from headers. Hartley scored for Celtic with a classic counter-attack and Pavlyuchenko scored for Spartak a header that Brown the stand-in Celtic keeper should have done better with but he redeemed himself in the second half with a point blank save from Welliton the Brazilian forward. Think this one will go to the wire and Mozart is an irritant but Celtic favourites now to go through.
