I dont mind him being a merda player/staff.

Many coaches have coached for rivals. Its different from playing.

Since any decent coach would do better than the former one (even maradona)... I think Leo is decent.... one played and coached Serie A. Which is important (not all are as capable as Mou)

Seasons target : CL spot and Pass Bayern in CL..

I think he can do okay. What we need now is someone who can motivate the team and relight the fire of last year.

We won't be outmanouvring Barcelona tactically with him, but for Serie A, he is good.

I'll give Leonardo the benefit of the doubt. Anyone is better then Benitez.

Hopefully he can just motivate the squad and help us sign some exciting Brazilian prospects. Don't forget he was instrumental in securing Kaka, Pato and Thiago Silva to Milan.

So what are Leonardo's qualifications? Granted Benitez was not doing a great job but it is almsot always unfair to judge a coach before a full season, certailny not with a squad half injured and emotionally apathic after winning everything. And to then reaplce him with a nobody like Leonardo is just..

The old Moratti is back. :proud:

What other option is there? Benitez has to go (no discussion) and it's always tricky changing managers mid-season.

Leonardo should do fine as a caretaker, and if he impresses he stays. If not we get a real world class manager in the summer when one is available.

What were Pep's qualifications before taking over Barca? How about Mancini before taking over Fiorentina. Really nothing to lose here and to be fair the Milan side Leonardo inherited from Carlo was really quite bad.

Horrible choise.

On the other hand everything is better then Rafa right now.

On the other other hand this guy got trashed by a 9 men Inter.

On the other other other hand this guy might be our best chance for Ganso.

I'm somehow fine with it just cause Rafa is out, but we better not stick with this bafoon in the summer.

Stanko thinking about it.. how this would really feel fine? you`ll be coached by a guy who wouldnt feel so bitter losing to Milan in the derby.

BRING BACK BENETEEZ!! Im ****in serious.. this is wrong!! this is so WRONG!! :scream:

Only reason it is fine is cause any worst then what we got with Benitez right now - with players not wanting to play for him disrespecting him and playing not like they usually know, we probebly won't get with Leonardo.

Atleast I hope we won't, but Rafa staying is just not a possibility, so any change over him is an upgrade - thats how I see it.

But don't get me wrong I hate the Milanisti scum and think he's a fvcking useless tool.. but he's better for us then Rafa is, and not cause he's a better manager then him cause he's clearly not.

"Here we go with Leeds United
We're gonna give the boys a hand
Stand up and sing for Leeds United..."

Ooooops, wrong club...Or is it? Because the situation is eerily similar to that of 1974: the charismatic, beloved manager leaves for what is considered the dream job believing he has taken his team as far as he could and uncertain he can rebuild and repeat the success; the board hires his old nemesis in his stead who immediately proceeds into modeling the team to his image, something that does not sit well with the players who all but start a rebellion and force the club's hand into sacking the boss. Somehow, though, I can not picture Benitez telling the players to toss their medals in the dustbin because they won them all by cheating(the presence of one Marco Materazzi might have something to do with it).

But as Karl Marx once said, history only repeats itself as a farce, and with appointment of Leonardo that is completed as well. Just what has Leonardo shown that would merit the Inter bench is beyond my sight. We are talking about someone who got hammered in both derbies, dumped out of the cup in th round of 16 and who after a 3-2 defeat against Man United at San Siro stated that "winning 2-0 at Old Trafford is normal for us". On top of it all, he is someone without his own staff, unless he gets Tassoti to switch sides as well.

So, why is he Moratti's seemingly number one target? That's simple: he needs another scapegoat in case things don't improve. If bad results continue, all the fans' anger will be against that milanista on the bench. That would not have happened had Moratti hired Zenga, who has both more experience and is interista.

IMHO, your results will improve, largely due to the fact that Zanetti is on good terms with Leonardo(although if the latter proves to be particularly incompetent not even that would save him) but not enough to win major trophies. For that you need reinforcements, a striker and a left-footed left back, at the very least. But Moratti won't buy anyone, you can bet safely on that. Why? Because he would thereby admit that Benitez was right and he'd rather go through a trophyless season then do that. He looks foolish enough as it is...

this is extremely well written

are you a journalist and if not have you considered trying to become one?

Leonardo is unknown quantity as a tactician and motivator. The plus side of him is that he seems to be a nice character (which creates the fear of him being a softie though) and he could be able to create a bond between the squad and himself, which is something Rafa never could or can.

bob would defend him even if he loses 10 games in a row as Inter's coach.

Best (and only) choice after Spalletti.

Leonardo could hardly have done more with the material he had at Milan.

I believe he's well respected among our players which is the main thing.

Baresi as assistant would be ace.

I'm so relieved Capello didn't re-enter the picture.

Nice post, Lightoller.

Except that I don't agree that all the fans anger will be directed at Leonardo if things go wrong. I'm sure there would be a fair bit of criticism hurled at Moratti in the form of "how on earth could you ever think of hiring that POS...and a Milanista of all people?!".

Second, I hope that Moratti doesn't decide to take zero action in the transfer market solely because Benitez wanted to buy players. I'm sure Moratti knows we need players and realizes it's best we write our own shopping list rather than using Rafa's. If there's a lack of spending, this could just be a part of our new, even more frugal, economic policy.

Lord knows we need players though because of our aging squad, and that if we don't buy a bunch of quality players by the end of next summer, we'll really have it rough.

This one's Moratti's fault. Granted Leonardo could've done with a better team at Milan, he's still a huge risk. We should be aiming at a top 3 spot given the circumstances.

Risking everything by hiring an ex-Milanista newbie doesn't make sense.

Maybe Moratti wants to hire Leonardo as a Director, remember folks that Carboni dude he was included with Benetiz staff. Also I find it odd that Zenga resigned just few hours after Benetiz got sacked.

My guess is we are getting Zenga as a couch and Loe as a director

Why stop there? Lets add Lothar Mattheus to the list of potentials while we're at it. Or why not a wild card in Toto Schilaci? Perhaps Moratti himself? They might not have any success coaching but who cares- it's overrated.

Walter motherfuxxing Zenga? Who owns goal.com by the way?

it doesnt matter who inter get. if milito, sneijder, pandev, maicon continue with their poor form, nothing will change.

I really need to understand now, what are inters goal this season.

Some would say THE CL, SERIA A and the TIM CUP.

Some would say REBUILDING FOR NEXT SEASON.

zenga and leanardo will not win inter any trophies......

Leonardo will soon be confirmed as the new Coach of Italian champions Inter, reports are insisting.

Despite fresh links with Walter Zenga this morning, the Italian media remain convinced that the Brazilian will be Rafael Benitez’s successor at San Siro.

Talks are understood to have already taken place with just some minor details to be resolved between both parties.

Although an announcement could be imminent, the general feeling is that the appointment will be made official on December 27 or 28.

Whispers suggest that Leonardo, who bossed city rivals Milan last term, will sign a contract until June 2012.

As part of that agreement, which will see him net around €2.5m a campaign, there will be the option of a one-year extension until 2013.

Leonardo won’t be the only fresh face at Appiano Gentile in the New Year, with a number of players expected to be brought in too.

Genoa defender Andrea Ranocchia, who the club already co-own, will be acquired to replace the injured Walter Samuel.

Real Madrid’s Kaka, who Leonardo helped Milan to sign in the past, is another possible option for the new world champions.

There are even some suggestions that Inter would like to announce the arrivals of Leonardo and Kaka simultaneously for maximum impact.
