As far as I know there is no long term commitment, it is for the remainder of the season. So lets see how he does in the next 8 weeks. It is better to try him as a coach in Gala right now than next season. We have nothing to lose anyway. If he sucks then he can continue as the assistant to a new coach. We can not do worse than we are already doing so a good decision from by point of view.

 

But how can you quantifiably guage his performance? He will be coaching for a period of 8 weeks where the team have NO pressure whatsoever, and are losing all the time recently anyway. If he continues to drop points, no real difference would be made as all players are not his. If he wins a few, especially a derby, would this be reason enough to keep him for next season????

Very true.....Hagi's performance the last 8 weeks will not be a good measure if he is any good or not because the team has nothing to fight for and will therefor play without pressure.

If he manages to win a couple of games it can be a good sign but still not good enough to know how good he will be. It would be too much of a risk.

But Hagi is a former GS player....he knows the organization and what their goals and values are so he could turn out to be the coach they have been looking for.

 

In that way it is going to be hard to evaluate anyone's performance.

True. That's why I think GS should only appoint a caretaker boss until they appoint their proper one for the beginning of next season. Someone like Mufit Erkasap should be ok...

Appointing someone with the objective of proving themselves won't work...

 

I just hope that he is here for 8 weeks and 8 weeks only. We need a really good coach, an experinced one, not Hagi,. Hagi was an excellent player but i dont think he is a good coach, well he hasnt proved himself yet...

Çok hırslı ve disiplinli birisi olduğunu söyleyen Hagi, "Benim çok hırslı ve disiplini seven birisi olduğumu biliyorlar. Bu şekilde bu işi yapacağız. Çok hırslı olan oyuncuları severim" diye konuştu."

GS did right by signing a 2 year deal with Hagi....8 weeks sounded weird! Now he can make some long term plans instead of just saving the day.

as i said before hagi knows GS very well and shouldnt have any problems adjusting to the organization.

Extremely brave move. I am much aware of his talent as a coach, but I guess he might be successful here.
Hagi was one of the most smart players I have ever seen. And he was GS's symbol for many years, so he is exactly the man to know what this team needs.
