OK I was reading the Barca forum and see that they seem tobe unhapy with Zambrotta... I know that we are for sure going to get competition from Milan, Inter and Juve on this, but we should really put whatever bucks we have into trying to acquire Zambrotta next summer... what an LB that would be :strong:

Another one if Pato is a success is Gilardino... Milan may want too much and that may want someone in exchange... would you give Mancini for Gilardino? Well if it means changing our system, I dont care, I would do it... Totti and Gila upfront would garauntee goals for sure :lick:

Finally I will also shout out for Ben Arfa of Lyon... watching this guy I can see he is going tobe pure class... would love for us to have a look at him.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Of course I realise we cant get all 3... but what big players would you like to see us go for... realistic of course, I mean we arent going to be getting any Kaka's or Drogba's at the moment ;)

Hmm...something in line with Roma's transfer + salary structure - but more importantly someone who has the necessary characteristics to make the smooth transition to your brand of football.

If it wasn't for his childish antics, Cassano back to Rome would be a mouthwatering proposition. It's actually sad because Real would release him for a measly 5 million euros and he'd fit your system like a glove.

How about Amauri/Cavani from Palermo? I rate them both highly.

I was thinking abut Gila while I was watching Milano derby yesterday.. I think we should go for it. Although I doubt Milan will let him go easily.

Zambrotta is worth it, although he's reached 30.. but I think he has decent at least 3 decent seasons left.

Would love Mutu but it's way unrealisitc.

I wouldn't want a big striker to come and sit the bench under Spalletti's system, but Lyon's Benzema looks extraordinary. DiNatale would be nice, and I predict Spalletti could make a surprise January move for him. Ya just know Inter will add 3-4 top shelf players. Must be nice to have unlimited funds.

lyon would demand too much, you never get Benzema on the cheap from the french side.

I think we should really get Di Natale especially if we are going to sell Mancini. He is a player that could take our team to another level, he is a goal scorer, a hardworking player, a leader and a top class player. And most importantly, he is at his prime, I think he will make a great difference in the team and will adapt quickly to our formation and tactics.

But seriously, on topic:

I'd love Fab Quags. I admit I'm a big fan of our fluid football, I think he represents the best breakdown between keeping that and adding lots of goals from an attacker. Don't really see anyone out there (Iaquinta will never happen now, alas...) that can add goals and killer instinct to our team without forcing a change in style.
But if not, a winger would be nice. Particularly with Mancini finding new ways to play bad every week, and probably moving in the summer at the latest. Who, I don't know, however.

Listening to Spalletti's comments last night he wants some brute strength, some power, and some nerve. I had been thinking about this since his comments about playing Cassetti v Samp for some added "physicality" ... it's clear what he thinks out problem is (well, we all see it) and wants a more steely side who don't get bullied and disposessed so easily under pressure and can fight.

Suddenly I don't know if flair attackers are what he is referencing. He saw Inter brutalize, bully, press and pummel Milan like dogs when they were struggling, and it only re-emphasized how soft his team is as well. Inter were all over them at every position, on every blade of grass. Milan started kicking the balls out of play they were under so much pressure (from Cruz up top, to the back 4).

Look, there is a reason Quags was the prime target and the society was deflated once Udinese won the buste ... no way were they selling at that point. Quagliarella has the power and class and attitude (Iaquinta embodies the fighter no doubt) he wanted from day one. I don't think based on his words that he wants a tap-in merchant like Rolando Bianchi.

Hate to say it but I couldn't help but think of Lucarelli, as we are always going to be tempted by a loan offer. Either way, I won't be surprised if 2-3 players come in over the next month.

Mancini, Spalletti feels, should impose himself on the opponent every minute of every match with relentless pressure (with and without the ball). He has the size, the pace, the power, but he lacks the attitude -- i agree with Cacini above me: the killer instinct -- to complete the package. Let's not pretend anymore: Mancini spends matches these days with a hand raised waiting for the ball, looking like a boy in a classroom wanting to get permission from the teacher to use the loo.

Anyway I still believe Di Natale will be on the pitch when we play Real Madrid. In the summer, perhaps Cassano, certainly cannot happen in January.

The point he made was crucial and needed to be said. I think we've all been thinking it: yes we completed the side with numbers and depth, but Roma have not "improved" the quality and class of the team.

It's good to know he wants to do something about it. Hopefully at all costs, or at any rate reasonable-teetering-on-excessive costs. The time has come to get the proverbial thumb out. By Roma's standards, at least.

I think your assessment of Spalletti's opinion stoneroses is correct, it is also probably why he plays De Rossi every match. If Roma were to sell Mancini or if not, Quaglirella might not bring the size that other players have but he is a very powerful player who harries opponents relentlessly. Rosina has some grit about him as well.
