Last year Barcelona needed refereeing favors to go past Chelsea and win the CL. This year, they barely made it out of the group stage. Lost to Kazan, drew them away.
But take a look their record in Spain. Its right now, where we can compare because basically if they secure the title they will throw away games at the end of the year.Just like Last year.

Barcelona 21 games 55 points, on Pace for 99.5 points finish. They have scored 52 goals and conceded 11. Average win is 2.47 vs 0.5. Their average result basically is winning by 2 goals every game.
Also take a look at Real Madrid, the same team who lost to Roma Juventus and Milan the last three years in the champions league. 21 games 50 points, on pace for 90.5 points finish. They have scored 50 and conceded 15.Average win is 2.4 goals vs 0.7.Basically they win every game by 1.5 goal margin.

Let us Compare this to Serie A. Inter Milan have 53 points in 23 games, on pace for 87.5 points finish. 12 less then Barca, and 3 points less then real madrid. They have scored 49 and conceded 20.Average win is 2.13 vs 0.8. Basically they win every game by 1.3 goals difference.
I wouldnt go on with the other teams now. Juventus, Fiorentina are on pace for less then 60 points finish . Milan on pace for 73 points finish, and Roma around the same as Milan.

Let us take a look at the premier league.Chelsea have 58 points from 26 games, on pace for 84.7 points finish 15 less then the team who needed the referees to knock them out of the CL last year. Scored 61 and conceded 22 , their average win is 2.34 vs 0.95. Basically their average game win is by 1.3 goals by margin. Chelsea is around the same as Inter.

Manchester United, are also on similar pace to Chelsea. On pace for 83 point finish. Their average game win is around same as Chelsea.

By Numbers and Facts, LA LIGA SUCKS Compared to the EPL AND SERIE A IN terms of competition.

Probably.

To start it off. You do know by how many points are Inter leading their league ? 9. Which in my book is more then 5. Serie A is clearly the most similar to one horse race meaning less competitive. Other stats to the 3 first big guns are very similar and mostly indicate that Real and Barca just score more. A few goals here and there. So Serie A this season has been one horse race, while La Liga is going for the 2horse race approach.

EPL has been the most competitive with Chelsea,United doing the tempo and Arsenal hanging on.

What the hell have people against La Liga. Last season it was the - you cant score against English teams argument. :palm:

Then there rose up the argument of the conceeded goals. When leading those stats - Chelsea fans reminded that. Now after getting scored against, a lot, it doesnt show that their defense is weak but it means the league is strong.

Oh and speaking about competitiveness and EPL. 11 out of 18? to United.
They are after their 4th consecutive title. Race. Horse. One ?

BTW, whose alias are you Orthodox ?

How do you define competition? If 20 teams are equally bad, is it not an equal competition?

BTW what has Serie A done in the last 5 years to be considered a better league than the Bundesliga?

Uh, Milan won the CL in 2007 and had more semi-finalists, I believe. What on earth has the Bundesliga done at all lately?

Yeah La Liga sucks that's why Barcelona won the CL last season :googly:

But I'll just mention one thing. You're saying La Liga sucks and using Barcelona as an example. Do you know that Inter; the 5(?) times back to back Serie A champions were also in the same group as Barcelona as in the CL, the one you're saying Barcelona struggled in? Do you know that Inter finished UNDER Barcelona in the same group? Do you know that Inter lost against Barcelona 2-0 without Messi and Ibra?

This is just ONE argument. I could go on and on...

La Liga is a terrible league I agree orthodox, I raised this point a long time ago ;) :pp

Well first Serie A Won the CL in the last 5 years, something The BundesLiga didnt do. But the discussion isnt here about BundesLiga vs Serie A.

Now 9 is bigger then 5. But Inter Milan have wasted up till now 16 points, Barcelona wasted 8 points and Real Madrid 11. Its far easier to recover the 9 point gap from Inter then the 5 from Barcelona. Inter are far from dominating Serie A The way Barcelona is doing in La liga. They easily lose points.

Inter also drew with Barcelona in the San Siro. Messi, Zlatan were present.Same team they are on pace for more then 12 point finish.
Real Madrid lost to Milan, same team they are on pace for more then 16 point finish.

How can you not see that Barcelona are significantly stronger than some shitty Inter team, so obviously logically Inter will drop more points.

It's obvious, if your a shitter team than another you will drop more points, hence why Inter drop more points in Italy than Barca in Spain.

Inter easily lose points because they are a good level below Barca, i'm shocked how anyone can post such a shit comment like you have there.

Bizarre.

Anyway.... i'm not going to argue in this one... i'll let you guys battle it out!

Blau grana... I'm still waiting for you pick in the other thread!

At the end of the day....

1. Real Madrid
2. AC Milan

1. Barcelona
2. Inter

1. Sevilla
2. X

.... with Juve and Liverpool out :D (Atletico Madrid too... but they're fighting relegation this season anyways :pp)

EPL is best in the world given its quality and competitiveness - we are mid February and 3 teams can win it, 1 point between first and second and 6 point gap with third...

then La liga, a two horse race where as soon as Real slips the league will be over, no point in watching games between other teams...so two horse race where 2 classicos are tasty to watch...

then u have serie A, a one horse race where the gap is 8+ points sometimes as early as september and people tune in just to find out who will qualify to CL...

I have to disagree with you there, Bundesliga top tables are ALWAYS competitive, even to the very last matchday.

Currently top 5 are 9 points apart, with the top 2 being tied for points.

Inter in Italy in the past few years hasn't been like Inter in Europe of the past several years. It's silly to say they can't beat Barça or whatever when they have lost to minnows like Valencia in the recent past.

Not only does that consideration matter but saying that Serie A is worst because of CL performances is a bit silly too. Milan beat Real Madrid so Milan > Real Madrid. Inter's beaten Milan twice in the league beating them 4-0 and 2-0 with nine men...so Inter >>>> Milan. Which would mean Inter >>>>>>>>> Real Madrid. Great logic that. :drunk:

The reason Inter struggle in Europe, is because quite simply they are not good enough, and simply...their players are too sub-standard.

That's why they've failed in the CL since 2005.

They ofcourse once again will get knocked-out in the CL this February, it's funny, because you just know 99.9% Chelsea will knock-out Inter, w/o a doubt.

#31 ·
The big three are England, France and Germany. The other two are run solely for the purpose of a few well supported/connected teams.

#35 ·
i know its competitive, but low in quality (number of world class players etc.)...

Why does everything end up in a Valencia - Inter arguement ?

#40 ·
Clearly, the Premier League is the best competition. La Liga is really boring these days, Barcelona and Madrid are miles ahead of the inconsistent rest of teams. It's like a new Scottish league.

#41 ·
Hows that different to ELP? It's Chelsea and Manchester last 5 - 6 years same as in Spain.

Funny how some people need to put down other leagues in other to have their own look better...

#42 ·
if you bothered looking at records you would know chelsea finished third and liverpool was 2nd last time around...you have 4 teams with realistic chances of winning it in EPL...

Save
#44 ·
No, you don't. Liverpool finishing second last season was a freak occurrence. You can't be a realistic challenger for something if you NEVER win it. Chelsea and Man U are the realistic challengers because they've actually done it in recent memory. Arsenal's title challenge is barely credible because they always bottle it, and Liverpool just aren't a title club anymore. Sky's hype over the "Big Four" means precisely dick in real life.

#48 ·
La Liga based on the global strength of all the teams had its best years in the late 90s and early 2000s, when the TV contracts were the main source of income for clubs.

Back then it was not surprise if the top teams in the table lost away vs the ones fighting not to relegate. The whole competition overall was far stronger.

PS. Which is the third best league in Europe, Bundesliga or Serie A?

#51 ·
Great thread!

While we at it, could I PLEASEEEEE bring up the wins and humiliating goals that Juve scored vs Madrid? plz plz plz! :D

After all, they're our royal bitches in Europe and all in all Liga teams are Serie A's bitches since like forever. :howler:
