Big test of our title credentials, winning this would be a major boost as its one of the 2 toughest games we have left, the other being the trip to Stamford Bridge in April. Gilberto just got sent off as i'm typing this so that's him ruled out and thats a blow to them as he's been a very good player for them.

Anyway, I can't see us winning this either way. 0-0 bore draw. :yuck:

It's an impossibility to place a reasonable prediction here, I may as well pick a straw out of a hat. Sadly losing or drawing is a strong possibility.

I still can't get that game earlier in the season at Old Trafford out of my head when they played us off the park when we were in such formidable form.

In all honesty if we don't play Rooney in this game we will have a better chance of winning, his current form is actually getting worse and is actually hindering our assault.

I'll go for 1-1, its a damn shame we couldn't capitalise more on Chelsea losing so many considering we have been far better than them this season. The title is going to go all the way to the bottom of the barrel considering we've got to play Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea all away, we are bound to drop points.

2-0 Arsenal for me.

Peaking at the right time and we're undefeated at home, should get the three points here. United are leaking goals to teams like Reading and Villa so to be honest I don't see how they can shut out one of the most potent attacks in the league.

No Gallas though.

It's a shame I'm not a neutral supporter, cos this is gonna be a cracker game:star:, as an Arsenal fan it will eat up my nerves :(.

Without Gilberto and with (probably) Flamini, our midfield is not as strong. I fear the worst :(.

Well hopefully Rosicky, Fab and Hleb pass it around for fun like they do, Henry gets his goal and that enough for the win. Maybe as a bonus Rosicky or Fabregas put a shot away.

I think arsenal are getting ahead of themselves, ok you beat liverpool but theyre crap anyway. Utd have been playing the best football in sometime lately and with the attacking options we have now I can see one winner.

This is going to be a very tough game for united.

The pressure is all on us. Realistically there is no pressure at all for arsenal cause the best they can hope for is 3rd and the worst is 4th. Given that Henry should have a good game as we all know Henry and pressure arent very good friends!!:smileani:

Anyway, alot could depend on the pool v chelsea game. If chelsea win all the pressure is on united and arsenal can play in the knowledge that they wont be any worse off in the league then they were with pool dropping the 3 points.

I would happily take a draw right now cause I fear that Arsenal players playing under no pressure is one of the hardest games a team can play (look at them at OT, stamford bridge, even against blackburn with 10 men).

We have the quality but next weeks game is all about how the united players respond to the real pressure of a big game. I think if we can get anything out of the game it bodes well for the league and the CL.

For me Rooney has to be dropped and Larsson and Saha should start up front. Carrick, Scholes, Giggs and Ronaldo. Evra, vidic, ferdi, neville, VDS. The team nearly picks itself.

its impossible to predict this game, but no gallas and giberto makes me think united can clinch it.

Im tempted to say rooney should be dropped, but even if hes not performing hes awesome at covering ground and will put arsenal on the back foot whenever we have possession, even from midfield.. i cant see larson or saha having the same effect...

however, despite that i would start with larson and saha, and bring rooney on with 30 mins gone. Whatever the scoreline, to face a hungry rooney who has bags of energy to expel in 30 mins is a scary prospect..

as for the midfield, fergie didnt opt for anything other than 4-4-2 against chelsea and started with scholes and carrick.. i expect him to obviously do the same against arsenal.against chelsea the team passed them off the pitch for the first half, and to me thats key: if we dont lose possession cheaply, we will win.

Huh?

You can predict whatever you want but one thing is for sure: It won't be a 0-0 bore!

When was the last time Arsenal and United played a boring game? I can only remember one in like 12 years.
Well what do you want me to predict? A battering by the home team? :D

I am not confident at all going into this, happy we have such a big points advantage so all the pressure will be on Arsenal. I would be obviously delighted if we win but I just can't see it. If Arsenal score first then the game will be over.

Meh looking at the wide perspective, it is such a huge weekend. It can either be a 3 point lead (basically nothing and even with Chelseas sh!te form they would be right in it), 6 points again (pretty decent breathing space), 7 points or a superb 9 point lead on the chavs.

Might be the turning point of the season.

I really feel that Chelsea will not win at Anfield, Liverpool are going to want to prove they are not a shit team after Arsenal battering them. Chelsea have been incredibly lucky to keep pace with us.

It's going to be a cracking weekend.

I would definantly agree that a superb trait of rooney is that playing good or bad the kid works harder then anybody for the team but I think next week could be about whoever takes their chances as opposed to who works the hardest and given that saha and Larson look a better option. Having rooney on the bench is a superb tonic if we are looking for a goal. With larson and rooney both able to play link up roles or even on the wings, it gives us so many options and a plan B if all is not well.

And Doug, I think both teams will go 4-4-2 and we might actually see the open great game we all anticipate.

Arsenal missing the above players mentioned is nearly a bad thing. At OT we all expected a united win but they played us off the park. Arsenals replacements have been nothing short of superb when up against it this season and for this reason I wouldnt bet on united having any advantage whoever is missing!

I agree, it really makes no odds when speaking of workrate because every player on the pitch will be 100% motivated playing Arsenal. We will not sit back, the lads will want to go out there and play attacking football and score goals. Rooney is a great player but his current form is worrying me, if he misses the chances against Arsenal like he did against Villa it could cost us the game.
