So it's time for the 2014 edition of the mercato thread. We already know that Honda and Rami are coming in, the latter is also eligible to play in the CL.

The squad is crazy bloated and contains 29 players right now and with the two coming in, we'll have 31 players in the senior squad.

4 goalkeepers: Abbiati, Amelia, Coppola and Gabriel

3 right backs: Abate, De Sciglio and Zaccardo
6 center backs: Mexes, Zapata, Rami, Bonera, Silvestre and Vergara
2 left backs: Constant and Urby

2 defensive midfielders: De Jong and Nocerino
4 central midfielders: Montolivo, Poli, Muntari and Cristante
3 attacking midfielders: Kaká, Honda, Birsa and Saponara

6 strikers: Balotelli, El Shaarawy, Matri, Niang, Pazzini and Robinho

There is high probability that Amelia (sale), Niang (loan/50%?), Saponara (loan), Vergara (loan) and Cristante (loan) will leave in January but I would rather see that Constant, Birsa, Zaccardo, Nocerino and Matri (yeah right) would leave instead of the youngsters.

To start off the mercato thread I just saw that Sportmediaset is writing today about a Hernanes-Matri swap which would make so much sense and be so awesome that there is hardly any probability that it will happen.

I was thinking about Robinho leaving, but which team will take him? The biggest favorites were Santos, but they just got Damiao I believe.

And you're right Birsa will probably stay and it really doesn't matter cause he will be behind Kaká, Honda, El Shaarawy, Pazzini and even Matri in the pecking order so he will not get to play anyway. In that case maybe it's smarter to loan out Niang and Saponara and keep Birsa, so that the first two don't wither on the bench.

Danilo D'Ambrosio Torino's left back who's contract expires in June. Corrierre was saying it was a done deal for January.

Marco Parolo for the midfield, Parma rejected half of Niang and the idea of Matri:irritate:. So we'll see where it goes.

I think Hernanes has become detached from Lazio and wants a move to a bigger club.

Lotito isn't stupid though - he's going to want cash - I don't buy this players swap shit.

Man UTD interested in Zapata :hopeful:

Hernanes for Matri yes for sure immediately but that won't happen,Hernanes still has 18 months on his current deal and Lazio can get quite good money for him.I dunno if we can offer them some players&cash that is a possibility can only try:tongue:.

I think Danilo could be good for us. I liked what I seen from him. Parolo on the other hand is not a player for a big club and wouldn't really make a difference for us.

If we got Danilo I wouldn't be surprised if he was played as a right sided attacker, but... We wouldn't really need that with Honda and we don't need a right back.

Galliani: "We have too many players in defence & attack. We'll try to swap one of these players for a midfielder, but without buying more."

May I dream?

Berlu: We need the money, we have the highest wages bill in Italy.
Galliani: He's prone to injury, we had to sell him, kaka style.
Allegri: He is surplus to requirements and hindering Matri's adjustment to Balotelli's diving.

Yeah and I don't understand why the internet is full with rumors about Genoa wanting El Shaarawy.

So the reports about D'Ambrosio are intensifying and it seems like we're trying to make a swap with Zaccardo.

abates a free agent. i can see him going to rube for free.

as for d'ambrosio, if it means the end of zaccardo im all for the transfer!:D:D

Letting Abate go would be a big mistake. He is our only really proven defender, and when he hits form he is essential defensively and even in the building phase of the game, as his runs are oxygen when we are pressed and no in the back knows what the hell to do.

I have no idea about who this D'Ambrosio is, but the day we'll finally be able to play Abate on the right and De Sciglio on the left we'll be much better than we are now.

d'ambrosio makes total sense, he basically fills the void antonini left when he moved in the summer. if we can offload constant and bring in d'ambrosio this would be a good deal.

hernanes would be useless. with honda we are already overcrowded in the offensive midfield departement.

we really should try to offload our deadwood instead of bringing in new players we really don't need. there is also no use in bringing in decent players for spots we are already well covered.

So after we swooped in and seem to have won the battle for D'Ambrosio, GDS reports that we are trying to do the same with Nainggolan.

I'd take Nainggolan in a second if it meant no more Muntari . . . but we all know it will mean no more Poli. In any event, I'd prefer him over Parolo. He's a few years younger and better.
