As I started the 2011 thread, in time honoured tradition I bring you the 2012 Calciomercato Thread.

Happy New Year all. Let's hope that Galliani once again weaves his magic in this year's transfer windows.

Cool, anyone feel free to merge it.

If a potential Montolivo deal hinges on signing him this winter to prevent us missing out in summer, then I am all for it for a small fee. He would be a great coup either way.

De Rossi is definitely a target we need to pursue. This season so far has really highlighted the fact that DM is a potentially problematic position. Ambrosini is a shadow of his former self, and although Van Bommel is better he's not the player of last season. Maybe Allegri could form a functional midfield trio out of Montolivo, Nocerino and Aquilani. All Italian and all have a good number of years left in them.

I think Ganso would be quite an unnecessary signing. Boateng has held down the trequartista position in his own fashion, which is unorthodox but effective. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Especially when it'll cost you a small fortune.

Montolivo and Ganso would be awesome. Tevez I am not thrilled about, partly from an opportunity cost perspective. Any Madrid prisoners we could break free from jail?
A good question, as this is a club that continues to throw money at its squad yet players will potential fall by the wayside.

Nuri Sahin doesn't seem to be the hit he was hyped up to be. He's barely featured this season so far and considering the midfielders he's competing against that may not change. Mourinho doesn't favour him and he only cost 10 mil euro, so perhaps they may not try too hard to keep him.

Real also have two top notch left backs in Marcelo and Coentrao. Marcelo is the clear starter in the team so maybe Coentrao could be tempted away? Unlike Sahin, Real spent a lot of money on him (30 mil).

Continuing with Fester's love of Bosman freebies, I recommend a great free pick-up in 2012 summer i.e. Adler. It's true our last German keeper, Lehmann, didn't have the best of time here, but Adler on a free as a replacement to the shaky Amelia would be an immense upgrade, he's capable of challenging Christian's place in the long run.

De Rossi would be a pipe dream IMO, he would either take the big paycheck in Citeh or remaining in Rome. If Fester is able to pull this one off, that would be such a major coup similar to that of Alessandro in 2002.

Nice list. I have not been on the Ganso bandwagon even before his lacklusture display in Copa America. With the same price tag we could easily get someone better and less injury prone, Gotze or Eriksen come to mind. Although I don't think we would invest in a trequartista in 2012, let's see.

Balo will be a future Rossonero but not in 2012, it's not even a possibility when Mancio is still their coach. When Zlatan and co. slows down, it would be Balo's time to lead the line.

DDR for free is almost too good to be true:D, I am not counting on it. ;)

I wish they could find a world class LB sooner than the summer...as for Tevez he will need at least 1-2 months to get match sharpness, not sure he is the short term impact void filling signing we need...

Would love to see the likes of podolski in Milan...

We still have El Sha (and Pippo if he stays) in the short run, a fit Tevez would be the extra thrust we need in battling Juve till the very end. Juve will be a real tough one to beat in Serie A, I would go as far as saying that the dirty zebras :yuck: are the favourite for the title.

Podolski? No thanks, if we are looking for someone in Germany there are much more talented players than this one trick pony (exceptional talents aka Marco Reus and the 19-yo midfielder of Dortmund, Leitner, just to name a few). Padolski has a nice shot in his leftie but that's all, limited player.

Agreed with King, esp. on Podolski... Montolivo and Tevez in Jan would be already quite huge IMO.

All I want in Jan is Tevez and DRR would be amazing come summer time. We would definitely be up there with Madrid and Barca if we manage too pull off those coups. I wouldn't underestimate our need for a quality LB and id suggest we try getting Aly Cissokho from Lyon it seems like they need cash and could let him go for about 11million. Adler? Isn't he number 2 at Bayer? I think we should look for a replacement for Abbiati long term rather than one for Amelia.

I've noticed something about Galliani's way of doing business its really not just smart but also very opportunistic does anybody else know how successful he is with his own personal investments?

not sure how good Kolarov was for lazio, but he is one i think the could leave Man City back to italy after they signed Clichy, thou city paid 16 million pounds for him and would want some money back...

just saw some reports linking ManCity to DRR Jan move. Key facts are: they have the money, DDR is out of contract in the summer; Yaya Toure will be out at the ACN
On the other hand gazzetta reports Roma made him an offer for a new contract, if i read it well - for 6 mil per season.

Lloris would at least cost us 20 millions or even more, I don't see us ever spending that much in a GK, given the more urgent needs in several other positions.

DDR will either remain in Rome or grab the money in Citeh. I am not sure (i) Berlu's willing to match Citeh's offers and (ii) Daniele's willing to leave Rome for another Italian club, that's two huge big ifs. Given our budget, we better be prepared to accept that Keita, freebie from Barca, will be our starting DMC from this June.

"Milan is my favorite team. Every weekend I check the Serie A results to see how Milan fared. Milan has really great players, like Seedorf, Ibra, Pato and Thiago Silva. Then there is Nesta who is a great champion, it's enough just to look at his career."

- Mamadou Sakho.

january:
in: montolivo, criscito, tevez, de sciglio (promote to first team)
out: taiwo, el shaarawy (loan), pippo (if he wishes to leave)

in summer we can talk pato for 50 million but not now, otherwise we would be short on strikers for the cl (tevez can't play there for us).

Our wish list can be long but the reality could be either Tevez or no one in January. I would like to have Montolivo in this window because we need depth in midfield, but given our budget and business style, it's likely Galliani would wait for 6 more months to save a few millions.

Let's see. Personally I would be thrilled if we end up with both Tevez and Montolivo, very content if we end up with only Tevez, and hugely disappointed if we end up with no one.

Hes not even near to be good enough to play for Milan :yuck:

If only Tevez was to arrive I'm pretty sure most Milanisti would be more than content.I agree about Montolivo we should make a reall attempt of trying to grab him now,he would come in so handy to us.About De Rossi personally I think he'll sign on with Roma I just can't see him leaving the capital to be honest. In terms of a GK I think we should look at Handanovic of Udinese he's an absolute gun and is having an outstanding season.
