As every year, even this year I allow myself to open this thread.
First speculation: Leonardo as heir of Ancelotti

We shall see

I thought Leo was a scout or something. Is he actually coaching the youth teams?

#5 ·
Scout? Youth Coach? Isnt he a director, one that perhaps manages the scouts and supervises transfers perhaps, but heard his role described as some kind of a director. Not solely a scout.

#6 ·
No, he's still head scout for South America, errr yeah but he does have some kind of director position too.

#7 ·
Whatever he is, I don't see how he has any shot at Carlo's job should he leave. Guardiola with Barca was at least the B team coach.

#9 ·
Are you implying we should hire Baresi?

#8 ·
There was an interview with Leonardo from not so long ago where he said that he would like to coach some day. He seems to have a good eye to spot good players with, but he should at least spend some time with the Primavera.

#12 ·
Still, he managed youth team last season ;)

Apart from his first spell at Milan and the ill-earned WC94 final, where else he was a sucess?

Sacchi was a a shoe salesman that got the midas touch in his first coaching job with you, revolutionized football in his special way, but was the perfect definition of one hit wonder, even if its a cruel way to put it for someone who was successful for several years.

two more years and the Swan of Utrecht will be back. Leornardo should take his queue no.

apart from that even gullit is back in Milan as a scout:eek:
we are really a big happy family:proud:

Messi and Etto are 2 of the best players in the world + Barca has many good players: Good defence, very good midfield and excellent attack SO it is very easy for a coach to be succesfull at that team.

We on the other hand have: Below avarage defence, good midfield and very good attack.

Are you counting Kaka and Dinho as the attack or midfield? I count them as midfielders. I think our attack is Pato and nothing else. IT stinks. Its because of the attacking mids that we do anything at all. If you count Kaka and Dinho as the "attack" then yes ours is pretty good. Our forwards are very disappointing aside from PAto. I like Borriello but he never scores, just does all the other important things.

Milan loves out of form attacking brazilians. If Adriano was recovering from career threatening knee surgery we would have signed him already to a multi-year deal.

I agree if we talk offense then we have a good one. Or potentially a good one. For every Udinese game we have two or three one goal squeekers against crap teams. If Dinho plays more like he did Sunday then suddenly his transfer looks even better.

We're being linked with Napoli defender Rinaudo...I think that would be a very good move. Behrami is also being linked to us but I don't think that will happen since Man U and Liverpool are also being linked and West Ham won't let him go on the cheap...

Whatever it is I don't want us signing a second rate defensive midfielder (Migliacio, Donati etc.) or another old defender (Gallas, Carrozieri etc.)

Rinaudo that sits on the bench in Napoli is a "very good move" and Gallas the starter in Arsenal isn't? Now I'd agree that we don't need more oldies, but we sure don't need more mediocrosy back there either.

#33 ·
I don't know much about Rinaudo except he is "liked by the critics" and has not managed to find a spot with Napoli. Maybe a move up is something he'd be interested in. Might come cheap too

#35 ·
And warming the bench for Napoli, perhaps better look for starting quality CBs? Though average ones like this are better then Kaladze anyway, thats something atleast.

#39 ·
Last week he was good indeed, but I agree that we should be aiming higher, even for the short term. That said, I would not mind anyone better than Senderos and able to play to games in a row.

just made a massive post about who to target but i refreshed accidently.. sigh

anyway, all unrealistic targets but - mexes, santacroce, zapata, benzema

we COULD sign them, i can't be bothered justifying why all over again but we do have the money if we want to pursue them.

we need to target a prolific striker and a defender. those are easily our main priorities
