I've been thinking about creating this thread for quite a while now, so here it is. ;) Basically, this is just a thread in which we can talk about everything we see or read in the media. I'm thinking mainly about programs like Studio Voetbal, Voetbal Insite, Voetbal International, Sportweek etc. I see a lot of interesting stuff in the media, and this thread could prove quite handy for us to talk about what we see. :)

I missed it. How much time did they waste on Hollands 4th club? :fero: :pp

While eating my boerenkool and stampot ;) watching 2 vandaag yesterday evening, there was a report about the rights to the highlights of the eredivisie and they'll be going on sale next month. The NOS is expected to get company from RTL, SBS and also John de Mol with de Mols group probably being favourites with all his cash. Should be good news for the clubs as more demand would obviously lead to a higher price (it'll definitely be higher than the current 22 million euro deal, more like 30+ they said) but how would you react to studio sport disappearing and de Mol getting the rights or someone else?

De Mol could off course just buy Tom Egbers or someone from the NOS to present his new programme to keep the old format or he could get new currently out of contract guys like Hans Kraay senior , Aad de Mos and lets say Emiel Schelvis (now only on radio Rijnmond) as the presenter to the show. As long as Richard Witschge and Dick Advocaat aren't appointed, all will be fine with me :D

Also would you want whoever gets the rights to make it like Match of the day with say like 3 analysts and a whole 1,5 hour show in one go (I'd prefer that ) or the current way where the summaries are shown at 7 with commentary, analyses etc in another programme?

I would miss Studio Sport. In contrary of a lot of SS bashers I think it is a pretty quality program. I would hate to see it at SBS or RTL, because especially SBS is crap. It would be nice to have all the games at one day of course, with all the analysing at the same day during the same show.

For once I watched SV again this weekend. Really had nothing to do with the fact that Gullit was there and his team lost big time. :) He was very relaxed though and didn't react as crazy as Paauwe, who said that Feyenoord got screwed big time. Luckily PP got dissed big time by Borst, for once I had to agree again with him. Who is right that PP is fake.

Yesterday in Voetbal Insite it was fun too see Genee making a remark to Derksen about his news from that week. 'Ga jij nu de hele VI voorlezen?' Derksen didn't like that and he stopped straight away. :D

I read something very interesting in Sportweek. They remininsced about the Ajax-Feyenoord in the past, with the clash of two styles. The Feyenoord team with the likes of John de Wolf, Fräser, Taument, Bosz, Blinker, Obiku etc. vs. the golden Ajax generation with De Boertjes, Finidi, Litmanen, Blind etc. Those games back then really were something and of so much higher standards than the games these days.

I really miss those games. :(

:yuck: Again SS showed no objectivity...! Vitesse-PSV, aside from Ooijer's step on Amoah, nothing negative from their side was shown. Bossen is de hoer van PSV   :crybaby:

ps: I understand why SS hardly shows attention to PSV, since they are boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooring!! Even Serie A is more attractive!

yeah instead of pinpointing on Michael Dingsdag, they should have focused on :finger: Nicky Hofs :finger: who brutally injured one of the worlds most underrated strikers:mad:

omg....disgusting critics on SV right now... :yuck: Hugo Borst and everyone else there!!! Just telling the KNVB what measures should be taken! An investigation towards Sturing, I mean WTF!?! :fero:

First it didn't seem on the summary that Vitesse was in control the first half, but they did show a long 2nd half where PSV was the better team and therefor it seemed PSV was the team that deserved the win...and no signs of disgusting tricks Alex pulled etc etc...
and I hoped SV would show this footage but noooooooooooo

I was sick yesterday so I didn't see much of the aftermath of the game, especially not the SV of last night, although I can understand that Sturing's reactions was regarded as questionable, especially if you see that the foul by Tuesday was pretty clear. On the other hand what to expect else from a drill-instructor? ;)

Still I don't like that overreacting either from the 'moraalridders'.

Did anyone notice that the new Studio Sport style is an almost exact copy of ARD Sportschau? I think the new style is alright, but it is pathetic that they don't give the line-ups before every game.

#15 ·
No, I noticed that too. Perhaps they think that they can please the KNVB in this way for the new rights that will be sold. Luckily, unlike the Germans, we at least still have no commercials between every game.

Voetbal Insite also sickens me ... it is SOOOOOOO chauvinistic! Everytime a Dutchie manages to perform 'something' it is regarded as something worldclass.. like that move Melchiot made... was that so spectacular? and then calling it an assist..please! Last year Hasselbaink passed the ball to a co-player with his chest..and wow, the praising lyrics for him...

yeah it makes you think we're on top on the world...which we are ;)

Seriously I hardly ever watch these football chat programmes. Only time when they're worth watching is when the Stalin of the Maas :D, Jorien vd Herik appears on them who basically slates everyone he can think of on it

Regarding the upcoming sale of the broadcast rights... is it just me or does John de Mol look suspiciously familiar to Klaas Bruinsma. :dazed:

#19 ·
yeah they do look alike :D

BTW a mounmental idea popped into my idea yesterday when talking to a mate of mine at work. :D If Studio Sport or rather when.. they lose the rights, I reckon they should invest the money on boxing. I mean how many of you weren't eager to see the fight in the playground when you were at school :D?! boxing coverage is way underdeveloped in Holland unlike in England and if the public in Holland gets to know about it and the rivalries (Benn/ Eubank was a big hit in England), it'll only get ratings. They could start by following fighters like Joval for example.

No doubt in my mind that if the NOS wants to spend the money on sport and get ratings, they should buy the boxing rights and have a boxing show. It'd also please me since the coverage here is virtually non existant :(

Boxing? Talking about a sport that you have to overpay for. Perhaps K1, we at least rule in that sport and even a channel like Omroep Flevoland (since the champ comes from Almere  ) could show pieces of it. So it can't be that expensive. ;)

#21 ·
Well I'd thought different since they'd be the only bidders for it so the American promoters and channels couldn't ask too much. Also TV stations from Norway, Eastern Europe and SE Asia have boxing rights and they can't have a lot more money than the NOS, but yeah it is true, boxing promoters can ask rediculous ammounts of money.

K1, good shout. It's fun to watch and off course the one and only Ernesto Hooooooooooooooooooooooooooooossst :shades: :D

Ernesto is my 'plaatsgenoot'. Actually, his parent live 2 minutes walking from where I live. :nervous: Nah, friends of mine have met him in the supermarket once here, and he is a really nice guy. :cap:

Anyway, this week in Vrij Nederland there is an article about Regillio Vrede. Don't ask me why there is an articlo about Vrede in VN, but ok. I read it and it is pretty interesting actually to see how his career never really took off. First he missed a transfer to Feyenoord or West Ham, because his manager didn't tell him about the interest of these two teams and he made him sign for Roda. Then when he was at his top at Roda, he couldn't go to Ajax because Nol Hendriks asked 12 million for him. Of course there was also the talk about he got screwed over by Paul Matthijs at Groningen and a very surprising story about how Nicky Hofs (not the smartest fella around I know) said to him on the pitch: Je moet je bek houden, vuile teringaap. After that Hofs got lucky that his teammates protected him. Imagine an angry Vrede (2 meters) storming at you. :scared:

Interesting article nonetheless on one of the most unlucky players.

Interesting stuff. Always thought too that Vrede played too low for his level, since lets be honest, if Uli van Gobbel or Andre Ooijer can play for top clubs for years, then Vrede certainly would have at least deserved a shot.

About Hoost. Shame he isn't recognized here. Sounds like a great guy. I also heard Ono once said that Ernesto's more well known in Japan than Gullit!
