I know at United he was still very very overrated but atleast there was a couple of things he could do better. Ok, maybe just two things:
1) He had one of the best crosses in the world
2) He was urguably the best freekick specialist.

Now the guy completely suck in everything. Teams used to avoid conceding freekicks at the erge of the 18 yards box. Now teams can't be bothered. He plays the worst free kicks ever. He must have scored about 3 freekicks since moving to madrid.

What has happened to Becks. Moving to Madrid has made him bad more especially when he plays for England.

Becks started deteriorating 1999, where he was at his best. This is just a continuation of what already began at Old Trafford. And Alice knew it, otherwise he wouldn't have benched and later sold him.
Madrid is not to blame here.

Beckham has never been great to begin with. Only members of the "Badham Worshipping Sect", consisting mostly of nationalistic lunatics, gays, and mindless sex-craved Asian teenage girls, think otherwise. Its' only now that his form has dropped has it become obvious to even many English die-hard fans here in this forum that Badham is just a good player even at his top form.

Beckham's problem is that he's a model that play football on weekends and Wednesday's. His head is not thinking in football. He constantly travels from Madrid to London and back again. He misses training sessions. He is thinking about the tabloids every day,... he is not thinking in football. He has chosen to be a pop icon, not a football player.

The title of the thread should be: Posh has killed Beckham!!!

Plus think of it this way, Beckham has also killed Madrid, in my entire life of watching football I have never seen a MAdrid team play so bad. It's like he's a bad luck charm!

I cried, literally when Laporta the hopeful candidate announced that he was going to try to sign Beckham, to convince him that "Barçelona met his requirements"...
uffff... you are right... it's scary to think that we could have signed Beckham instead of Ronaldinho. Man, we were so lucky. After "losing" Beckham, Laporta had to sign a star and the only one available in the market in a reasonable price was Ronaldinho...

I've asked this before and I'll ask it again. How many freekicks did he score in his career, to be considered the best freekick specialist ? I really don't understand what's the fuss about his freekicks. Yes, he did score a great FK so once in a while but so did many others. It's not like he scored freekicks on a regular base, so can we stop with this nonsense.

Rataplan, I disagree with you. Beckham in his career has been far more consistent at scoring free-kicks than others. It's just amazing the amount of times you think to yourself 'it's going to take some effort to strike it from there' and on many occasions you are left astounded by the technique and beauty of his well struck free-kick.

Madrid didn't kill Beckham. It's just that the EPL is as competitive as the Mexican League and when a TOP name arrives to either Spain or Italy all of the sudden that player under performs.

The same would happen to Henry!

huh... he had one bad season in his first year in madrid, and everyone's making a big fuss...

He's a good performer for club and country for some time; his freekicks were one of the most consistent around; and he never claimed his football was the best around.... He's a footballer who enjoys being in the limelight, and for many years, his fans fussed more about his talents than he did...

Then he had a poor debut season in spain, and everyone's suddenly on his case... I could name another 10 players in real madrid last season who was playing poorly last season, yet why single out beckham?

he is a right sided midfielder and since his ego has grown with the adulation he thinks he is something he is not, he now believes he is a playmaker in his own deluded mind, despite not having 1 trick in his locker or any vision other than see the furtherst man and aim a target pass at him.

he was good in his younger days because he played to his strength, he stayed wide and concentrated 100% on getting crosses in the box, only when he tried to branch out did he deteriate massively.

Firenze, there's not much to disagree because the facts are there.

For God's sake, Beckham has 'only' scored 66 league goals and Van Hooijdonk has scored more than 60 freekicks alone !

Once again, how many freekicks did Beckham score in his career, you will be astounded when you hear the answer.

a few years ago PVH was an absolute powerhouse in Feyenoord. the guy was scoring free kicks left and right. his technique isn't as beautiful as Bechkam's, but in his prime PVH was much more effective.

I'm glad you agree with me, Dmitriy, although he wasn't only a freekick powerhouse with Feyenoord.

Every supporter of NAC, Nottingham Forrest, Celtic, Benfica, Vitesse and Fenerbahce can confirm this.

Same goes for roberto Carlos imo, who scored 44 goals for Inter and Real and his hyped up as the uber free kick taker. But unlike Beckham he is an excellent football player.

Another really brillant free kick taker is Lyons Juninho.

At his best, no one could match him. His name is... Sinisa Mihajlovic
