Coventry keeper seeks longer loan

Coventry City goalkeeper Marton Fulop wants his loan spell to be extended until the end of the season.

The Hungarian international has missed just one game since his three-month loan from Tottenham Hotspur began.

"I'm really enjoying it and I think my loan ends at the end of this month but I hope the two clubs can agree on an extension," he told the club's website.

"They are very nice people here, very good supporters and I like working with the players and the staff."

FULOP EYES COVENTRY SWITCH

Goalkeeper Marton Fulop could quit Tottenham this summer with Coventry his preferred destination.

The 22-year-old Hungarian has been on loan at the Ricoh Arena since November, earning rave reviews from Sky Blues manager Micky Adams.

And Adams has made no secret of his desire to sign Fulop permanently but believes Tottenham will be unwilling to do business in the summer.

However, Fulop has now indicated a desire to avoid playing second fiddle to England first-choice Paul Robinson upon his return to White Hart Lane.

Fulop said: "I'm doing my best but for as long as Paul Robinson is at the club I think it would tough for me to play in the first team.

"That's why I feel that if a suitable offer comes in - I feel first-team football is vital at this stage of my career - I might move clubs and I feel great in Coventry."

Tottenham's Fulop closer to Coventry stay
tribalfootball.com - April 18, 2006

Tottenham goalkeeper Marton Fulop is a step closer to staying at Coventry City.
The Hungarian has already declared he'd like to extend his loan with the Sky Blues into next season and his ambition could be realised after it emerged today that Spurs are seeking a new keeper to work as Paul Robinson's understudy.

Sunderland's Ben Alnwick is in Tottenham's sights and is sure to lead to Fulop being allowed to stay at Coventry next term.

Tottenham keeper Fulop wants Coventry stay
By Ian Ferris - May 1, 2006

Marton Fulop hopes Tottenham will allow him to complete a permanent move to the Ricoh Arena because he believes "exciting times" lie ahead.

The 22-year-old has been a permanent fixture in Micky Adams' improving side since joining on loan at the end of September.

"I am really enjoying my life here at Coventry and I just hope that Tottenham accept Coventry's bid for me. Everything is working well for me here and I want to push on for promotion next year together.

"I see exciting times for me here and the major factor for me is that the club is going places and want to progress and hopefully get to the Premiership, and I want to be part of that," Fulop told the Coventry Evening Telegraph.

Coventry won't give up on Tottenham's Fulop
tribalfootball.com - May 3, 2006

Coventry boss Micky Adams admits he's still keen to sign Tottenham goalkeeper Marton Fulop.
"He's somebody we'd like to keep and, more importantly, the boy wants to stay," the Coventry boss confirmed.

"But Spurs have turned down our initial bid so we've gone back to them.

"I think there have been reports we've offered £200,000 but do these people think we're daft?

"That figure is way off the mark."

no Wigan is linked..

Sunday newspaper reports suggest that Wigan Athletic are preparing a bid for Hungarian goalkeeper Marton Fulop.

Fulop spent the majority of last season on loan at Coventry City from Tottenham, and talks have taken place between the two clubs over a permanent deal.

Interest from Wigan though could push the price up out of the Sky Blues' reach, as well as the obvious attraction to the player of a Premiership move.

Thats good news. Wigan is one club that has impressed me this season as I never thought they could have done so well especially after losing Ellington to WBA.
Even when they were down, they never seemed to give up.

Adams Interest In Fulop Waining

Fulop hopes slipping away
Micky Adams has said that he is looking elsewhere for a keeper as he is having problems convincing Spurs to sell Marton Fulop to the Sky Blues.

"I'm turning my attention elsewhere as far as goalkeepers are concerned because we can't agree a fee with Tottenham," said Adams to the CET.

"It is disappointing and we would like to think negotiations will continue and we won't be giving up on him just yet. "It is a shame because Marton is desperate to join us but Spurs hold his registration."
