Real Madrid vs FC Barcelona

The big one. One of the most important fixtures on our calendar this season where we will be fighting for the title and most importantly for pride. We visit our opponents in a bid to change the tides in La Liga and rock their boat. Which is a thing we havent experienced for quite a few seasons.

We have to admit that the for the past months Mourinhos Real is playing good football and are putting opponents aside with ease while we have lost some points to smaller opponents.

For Barca we can take confidence in this sides ability to turn up in big games at which Real isnt as good yet. Real for the first time in 3 seasons has given us a proper challenge and now we must answer properly.

A little warming before the match:

Battle of titans 4 (from last season's 5-0 el clasico) look in your archives or on my web page to download, because audio gets disabled on youtube if I upload it).

P.S. Tito will be on the bench for the match. :D :proud:

Oh and one more thing. Guys (and girls), keep it civil and without personal insults before, during and after the match.

Trolls and trouble seekers from all sides will be severely punished, posts will be deleted and I WILL look after this part of the forum like a hawk.

Who's up for the Clasico avatar bet this year?

Me, too.

This will be a great match. They have the burden of being favourites, while we have the imperative of winning. Regardless of how many points they have, the pressure is on Madrid. For one thing, they have a lot to prove against us. Even if we're trailing them, they are yet to show any kind of superiority over us, in head-to-head at least. They're on a roll and will be desperate to get a result here to confirm their good form, especially considering how much they've had to suffer against us in recent years. Drawing or losing here could bring them down a little as a long time has passed since Madrid have had a chance like this.
Also, they can kill us psychologically if they win. All of this should make them a little nervous.

We have to get a win to not only reduce their advantage, but probably even the score out. Should we win, we'd be top of the league due to head-to-head (with +1 in games played, but still) and get a good morale boost. Also, with three pts down and a home Clasic yet to come, we'd be a lot more confident of our chances. Not to mention that Madrid being on fire takes some of the attention off of our team and they will be looking to let everyone know they're still here. A big boost for us is that each season under Pep, we have always been able to conquer the Bernabeu. I'm glad we're playing this away from home as the tension will not be solely on us. If this were a Camp Nou game, we'd have the absolute imperative of winning while Madrid would be very happy with a draw. I don't like those situations so for me it's better to go to Madrid and aim for the head.
A draw for us wouldn't be bad, but it would mean that even mathematically we can't decide our own future.
The biggest boost for us is that we have Pep and Messi, as well as other gems. These men are the best in their respective roles and regardless of the form of the rival, we know we have the better team. If they are on fire for this one, I'm confident of a good result. We are known to wake up when big tests arrive. Besides, in the previous encounters this season, we came out on top despite the circumstances going against us.

I don't feel hugely confident about this one. We're bound to get a bad result out there eventually, and so far this season we've been a little less than 100%. As as Roy Keane once said, if you drop your standards by even 5% at the top level, your rivals will catch you. They are desperate for this title and they will fight desperately to get it. I fear we might simply not have their desire, despite our slight superiority as a team.

Finally getting the away Clasico first is a good thing, but in a situation where these two teams will hoover up lots of points, the fact that we are already behind with a game more played puts us in an awkward position. A win for them could almost destroy our title defence right away. A draw at the Bernabeu normally is a great result, but we'd still be looking to catch them over a season with our dodgy away form so far. We need to win to keep things in our own grasp this early. :lazy:

Our players are injury prone and some are coming off injuries. I expect them to be the clear favorites especially since the match is at the Bernabeu. The only thing that gives up in these matches are the fact that Khedira has slow footwork and someone like Messi or Sanchez can provoke him to make stupid fouls or create miss matches to make their defense fall apart.

Prediction 2-2.

In terms of excitement. We have a HIGH CHANCE of another El Classico affair at the champions league, except this time, it might very well take place at the final. That would be one for the history books. Would look forward to that. The two true best teams in the world in the final for the first time.

COME ONNNNNNNNNN, we need to win this, and I have a great feeling that we will win this, even with 3-4-3, they shit their pants when they see us on the pitch, they lose control and ofc too many reds.. another 0-3 would not surprise me..

Visca el Barca y Visca Catalunya.

El Clásico: let the trash talk begin :) ... come out you madridistas.. put it right here! Dec 10th, Madrid is on form, they are confident, 6 point difference in la liga, 1st in the CL, playing at home everything is perfect......

If they dont win now, the entire team will need counseling :p :p

Moe, although we did kinda solve our differences. This is a lame post and the kind I discourage to make. I understand the whole rivalry thing gets to people's heads but show respect towards your eternal rival. Fascism? That's just absurd. Bwin vs Qatar you meant. Buying players:

- Alves
- Pique
- Abidal
- Mascherano
- Alexis
- Maxwell
- Adriano
- Cesc
- Villa

7 of them are starting. Also the player that really changed things and made you the team you are today is Ronaldinho and he was no cantera. Xavi was there when you guys were failing game in game out.

Pimps? There is no bigger pimp than Alves. Who is not a family person in Madrid? C.Ronaldo is home with his family throughout the whole season if that's who you mean.

Racists? Guardiola about Eto'o: "No feeling". Favored Busquets over Toure.

Instead of having a smart football debate, you just make some extreme fanatic comments. Made usually by those dumb ultras and I'm talking about both sides.

Destroy them Barca. Guardiola was testing a new formation with 343, but will stick to 433 imo, only question will be the role of Fabregas.

Cesc & Pique may have cost money to buy, but they are Barca made, and Barca couldn't do anything about the english kidnappers and their non-producing academies, ergo why they cost money.

Unfortunately I will not be able to watch as I will be occupado on saturday.:yuck: Although since I do have a habit of missing goals by accident, perhaps missing the whole game will mean a large win. :D

On the other hand, given the ridiculously biased and negative coverage we've been getting from many quarters, and the fact that Madrid's thuggery, blatant cheating, eye poking, sniping, accusations and other despicable BS has been given a free pass from just about everyone, I would be quite amused if we won 1-0 from a totally non deserved penalty so perhaps that droopy eyed freak manager of theirs might understand that a decade of being a **** in every way brings a touch of karma every now and then.

Joe, you cannot expect a reasonable debate after you imply that Pep is a racist. You're clearly here to give the moderators some work.
As for your Ronaldinho argument, it isn't a trump card but rather a weak argument at that. Ronaldinho was indeed bought, but we already had a number of other key players in the Club, namely Iniesta, Xavi and Messi, who would have emerged eventually. This makes your claim that we would be on the level of Valencia quite strange.

Moe, I know you'd have a field day with Joe considering his 'arguments,' but please ignore him. There's no need to give the mods something to do in a thread that barely has any posts. I hope this topic can pick up tomorrow, it's just one day before the game. I'm wearing my Puyol 5 season 05-06 kit every day all day now. The nervousness is creeping in, and the small number of posts in here is creeping me out.

And Thank you very much. Every time you lose a debate with me, you bring this up.

Xavi and Iniesta were playing already way before Ronaldinho came in and they were not raising any bar nor could they compete with Real Madrid. If not for Ronaldinho, these canteranos would have never emerged.

Xavi is one of the best CM the world has ever seen. But it was Ronaldinho who gave all of them the confidence they needed whether you like it or not.

I'm not here to troll. Disappear? I did not. I just have less free time now to write here more often.

Also trying to piss me off with your posts won't work buddy. I really don't give a rat's ass about your insults. You sent me a PEACE Private Message which I never replied to because I don't care. You take this place a little too seriously.

oh Kopriva you're too good for this :)

just a note kopriva that you're trying to debate with a guy who attributes all the success in the pep era to ronaldinho who left Barca before pep even came here :D ..

this is the level of intellect you're dealing with here ... in that context you are right.. the frustrated troll should be ignored
