hey guys;), Lazio will be no easy task for us and that is obvious looking at their revcent results that they have made a lot of progress since the start of the season, most likely also to get the final, we howver have been like a tap-on and off and its really bugging me now, we cant play like this forever,we must pull up our socks, i expect we'll rise to the occasion of the derby anyway but im talking about in general.
My Formation:
Code:
            Antonioli
      Zebina Samuel Panucci
 Cafu Emerson Guigou Candela
                Totti
      Montella Delvecchio
               *****
yes finally ive decide we should use il tridente, for the simple reasons-we need the derby killer, his form of late has been outstanding, and he cant play on his own so we must ahve 2 upfront, Tommasi cant get himself out of this small rut he's having, maybe against Lazio he might but i favour Guigou, the little spark of life over him.
ok, i amn't going to talk about every player, just the ones i feel i need to talk about
Antonioli- he fully deserves his place and anyone who critisices him is a fool, possibly the only mistake hes mad this season, the wind also was a big factor in the outcome of the inswinging cross, now if the fans start booing him hes gonna be unhappy and underperform and then we have to rely on Pelizzoli to produce the goods, give poor Antonioli a break

Samuel-Crespo is class but Samuel is class multiply by seven, best defender in the world, even better than Nesta EOD:strong:

Emerson-id like to actually now express my great satisfaction with the way Emerson has been playing, sheer brilliance and at the moment one of the best midfielders in the world, what a snap of a purchase, nice one Sensi

Guigou- i want him to start because Tommasi and Lima aren't performing to their maximum, maybe in such a big game we cant take such a big risk, but he would be a lovely touch in the team and with il tridente, would make us even more attacking and realllyyy unpredictable, some will say il tridente is too atacking already without Guigou and this is were im uncertain, to be honest id much prefer to slot him into the defesive 3-5-2 where there would be a lot less risk, and if Capello plays il tridente then he wont play him but thats just me

Totti-Apart from the closing minutes of the game against Lecce he played very well, looking much more a menace around the penalty area and seems ready to hit top form again, what a game to hit it in

Montella-its as simple as this, hes playing better than Bati, on Sunday he rarely had a chance to score but showed a lot of grit and detrmination and fought for evey ball, i have a feeling Il Aeroplaninio is about to land

Delvecchio-Capp seemed to start him not on the wing against Lecce but in the middle and he seemed to cover when needed, very nice tactics, Delvecchio played brilliantly and if we were to play Guigou he could compliment him very well

*****-Roma have lacked goals recently and if we want goals ***** is the man, im not sure of his fitness, availability etc but if he is he will more than likely find the back of the net for us at least once

My Prediction:
Roma dominate and give Lazio the ass whoopin they deserve
Roma 4 (Totti 2, ***** 2) Lazio 1 (*****)

FORZA ROMA FOREVER:proud:

ROTFL, romafan53, that formation is great :smileani:

Maybe we will see this one from Capello, I read today that :star:Assuncao:star: will start this match.

My line up...
Antoniolli
Zebina-Samuel-Panucci
Cafu-Tomassi-Emerson-Candella
Totti
Batistuta-Montella

Believe me its the best one..:^)
Emerson will cover the midfield and I would field Tomassi rather than Assuncao because Tomassi have a better vision of game ... (maybe assuncao should enter the field if we found hard to score from playable ball)
& of course the hot one issue... the attacker...
Play Bati & Montella as a twin striker not as a single striker & a supporting striker... believe me it would be lethal.. Montella's skill & Bati's power will scared the defender to death.. & I think Bati will have a more space if the team play with two striker.
Delvechio...?? If we don;t score in the first half.. let him in in the second half...!! 45 minutes will be enough for the derby killer ...:^)
anyone agree?
Forza Roma
Prediction
3-1
(Bati,Montella, Delv., (oh so sweet, they all score!) , Crespo)

My prediction

I think Roma will surely win this game. Roma has a better defense, and anytime Roma play against teams that play an offensive style (not defensive like "weak team"), the chance of scoring goals is widely open.

So, I think Lazio 0 - 3 Roma.
The scorers are : Bati, Delvechio, and Emerson.

Inter - Juve : 0 - 0

Roma will bash us?

Let me just remind you that because i'm in your forum will i give you guys the respect that you deserve on your turf. Although I must tell you that our emotions for each other are very very tense at this time of the season. It's derby fever! But i'ld like to tell whoever said that Walter Samuel is better than Nesta that he has to get his facts straight. I really praise rOMA for their great achievements this year although i must warn you people not to get your hopes up. One being we have a confident Crespo, someone who is just on fire. Crespo has 99 goals since he started playing in proffesional soccer leagues and he is willing to score his 100th and more... Nesta is the lazio Captain and he will not let any goal go in because he wants Lazio to reach the CL spot of 4th place and he will be confident because he doesn't want to be sold. It's the right time, but i want to advise you people to tell your team captain to get a little sportsmanship and stop being a stuck up, proud soccer player. Thinking he can bash Paulo ***** in front of the world? That's just very unsportsmanlike and very stupid because now ***** will be up Totti's as* and it won't be nice considering you guys know how fast totti falls down :) Anyways.. It's going to be a great match, and let's hope it'll just be interesting. Both teams put their best effort and let it be decided in the last second who the winner will be! Forza Lazio!

Derby time!! As exciting as ever. I have a feeling Roma will rock Lazio, 0-3. Hopefully Montella will get to play from start, but according to the papers that is unlikely to happen. So I guess we'll see a Bati-Delvecchio attack.
I'm really confident in Roma for this game. Roma play ****ty against semi good teams and then play really well against the top teams. Capello will field 3 attackers, I'm sure. Hopefully also Assuncao will be fit to play, but I also doubt he will start, since Capello likes his players to be completely fit beforte starting.
I'd like to see this formation:

Code:
              Antonioli
    Zebina Samuel Panucci
Cafu Emerson Tommasi Candela
             Totti
             Monty Delvecchio
Unlikely though...

I have tickets for this game and I am allready down on my knuckles. Very nervous about this one. How do I react when Totti bangs in 0-1 and I stand in the middle of a hoop of laziali?

Rome è piu forte! :proud:

Coolioz, tu sei nato a Roma?

4-0 to roma

I am really sad sad that roma get a draw againts lecce while juventus get a lucky win and what a miracle result which saw milan defead at home to inter milan with vieri goal. Moreover i am really one foot far away from roma because i saw bati get bench , montella get the chances and now againts lazio, will bati gets the deserve decision to start when montella did not scores againts lecce. Whats happen to bati now really make me sick and tired, he seem to lost the goal scoring confidence foot in this season. I hope batigol stay healty wihout injured, hopefuly he will scores againts lazio and he will also scores againts galatasary.( the first and second goal of bati in the champion league):)

i think this will be a good match, i hope roma play montella-bati rather than seeing my hero legendary striker on the bench.. I don,t think Delvecchio will scores in this match. Roma defense , if you are the best..please don,t ever let crespo scores a single goal in this match because roma is the best defense team, right......... if bati scores, you bet this derby is my best ever derby this season:):) Bati is my football life:)

my prediction:

3-1( Batigol 20,batigol 43, lopez 55, 75 batogolgolgol)

This is really importnt match for roma......no matter its lazio...or other ones.......as cassano said earlier we gotta go start winning from this match till the ned of the season if we want to win the scudetto...and hopefully juve and inter will drop points in hte feature.
.............................Antonioli
.........Zebina.......Samuel.......Panucci
Cafu....Emerson.....Assuncao....Candela.
...........................TOTTI
...........BATISTUTA...........Montella.

Antonioli....i would rest him before C L match. But he is doin great however i want to give a chance to pelizzoli.
Zebina- doing great, he got bettter a lot after that horror last month. he did pretty good against lecce although he didnt have a chance to touch the ball a lot.
Samuel- i dont have words about this guys and i have confidence in him. Some ones saying that nesta is bettar than our WALL but i would disagree with it because nest is more like a WOMAN because every times strikers runs at him he triest to go to sdie and runaway but samuel goes straight to the striker so the attacker would runaway.
Panucci- i am so happy that we have bought this guy at last( as onefootball says). this guys is doing good from the first match with roma and sometimes he is even scoreing and have 4 goals i think so far.
Cafu- this guys is fast as cat and can driblle arround everone and i hope he will get mendietta to drive him nutts. he is da man..and it would b awesome combination with bati.
Emerson- leader of our defence, nothing to talk about him. He wins a lot in the midfield and passes same time quickly...and scores in 90s min a lot............lloll.
Assuncao- we need this guy for freekicks if he didnt forget how to shoot for this short time injury because we gonna have a lot of FREEKICKS outside the box of lazio with our TOTTI.
Candela- after watching last 3 games of roma i realized that we need candela as man u needs beckham. he creates many chances to strikers and he is a good dribler and passer. he is one of my fav players in roma.
TOTTI - if i was capps i would put cassano although i am sure that he will put him. we have to rest him for C L because i am sure that we will win without him.but if he playes i dont have to say anything about this guy....future supa start...but for now he is da star.
Montella- have been playing last 4 games i think and scored 2 goals...not bad. i would start with him because he has dribbling skills and he would assist a lot bati upfront.
IL RE LEONE- u guys forgot about him. when he was scoring a lot last year u guys didnt say these things about him but now when he has probs with tactisck u plus criticks sayings that he should retire and even delvecchio should start instead of him..that is just SOO not fair.

My prediction is
2 LAZIO ( crespo...inzaghi) ROMA 3 ( bati 2, montella)

FORZA ROMA!!!!!!!!

hey Bati_9, nice preview;)
Dont forget Caps on when we say, "Roma":)
anyway, i think Bati actually should be dropped, even you must admitt his form has dropped and hes not as good as super Marco at this time, that dosent mean he wont regain his form but until he does, why should he play??Hes not a liability but at this moment in his career he is hardly an asset so IMO we drop him until such a time as he's ready to come back, sell him??no way, keep Bati till he retires:)
Ha ha, ***** wont actually be playing:( Come on Montella, without auto gol were gonna need you:D
But Nesta is quality through and through, even i would admitt it, but laziofoeva-everyone has targets, Totti wants to win the leauge and the Scudetto, as well as every other Roma player so you cant say Nesta will play extra well because he wants lazio to get 4th place and as far as i know, he does want to be sold, lazio will be having a clear out, no doubt but their best player is hardly in their selling plans;)

FORZA ROMA:proud:

bati has to start no matter what..sorry rf53 but u r wrong...bati is da goal scorer...not a bench warmer...marco is da man of the bench..dont argue about it.he hasnt go form like marco.but now i changed my mind.....delvechio will start wtih bati upfront......way to go ROMA!!!!!!!!
lets show the who is truly ROMANISTA as a team...!!!!!!!

The Eternal Rivalry: Samuel Wouldn't Swap Batistuta For Crespo
Lazio - Roma | News Archive

Better than Crespo? (Allsport)
03/07/2002. Ahead of this weekend's Rome derby, Roma's Argentine centre-back Walter Samuel has said that given the choice, he would not swap Gabriel Batistuta with Hernan Crespo.

The two will face-off this Sunday night in the beginning of many battles between the pair in the coming months. Both are vying for a place in the Argentine World Cup side, with coach Marcelo Bielsa set to play one of them and leave the other out.

When discussing the pair's various merits, Samuel was left in no doubt as to who he'd rather have in his side.

"Perhaps Gabriel has more power, personality and is certainly well equipped technically," he said. But I cannot speak badly of Crespo, he is my friend but he plays with Lazio. They are two great players, although I would not change Batistuta with Crespo."

Serie A Preview: Lazio-AS Roma
Lazio - Roma | News Archive

Delvecchio: a key player for Roma against Lazio (Allsport)
03/07/2002. AT STAKE

Roma-Rom-alé… Whoever confides to hear diehard Giallorossi fans chant this song at the end of the ninety minutes in Sunday night's derby knows little about Italian Serie A. History shows anything can happen in those ferocious battles, where honour is more important than league position.

And Lazio know about it. The Biancocelesti are slowly coming back to Earth after a great ten years. But they still have their pride to defend. However, the bigger picture hints that a defeat will have a deep impact on the 2000 Italian champions' future.

Should Lazio lose this one, their race for a vital 4th place – giving access to the Champions League 3rd preliminary round – would be seriously compromised. And beyond the potential financial loss, this failure would push Lazio's heart and soul star defender Alessandro Nesta out, with Real Madrid or Juventus as possible destinations.

Like we said, history plays a big part. And not only because this is Rome, with the Forum, the Coliseum and everything.

In 1999, Lazio lost their pace in the title race after a bad derby defeat against Roma. This has lingered in Laziali's minds, who are eager to take revenge as Roma are in a similar position as Lazio three years ago: a difficult calendar, a fierce run-in for the title and European competition demands.

But this derby will also be fundamental in defining AS Roma's season. With Juventus and Inter preceding the Giallorossi in the table by one and two points respectively, a loss at the hands of Lazio could mean one of Roma's two Northern rivals will be able to build a significant cushion if either one takes the Derby D'Italia home.

Moreover the psychological effect of a loss could also hamper Roma's road to the Champions League quarterfinals, as only three days after the Roman Derby, Capello's gang will face Galatasaray in the Olimpico, with the chance of qualifying to the next phase of the European dance one match in advance in case victory arrives. The last thing Roma want to do is arrive at this match with their confidence levels at all season lows.

A precedent also makes this clash extremely challenging for the Giallorossi.

Lazio will try in all manners to stop Roma's 22 league match positive streak as they are still looking to avenge the 3-l loss inflicted by Roma in the 1998-1999 season, a result that marked the beginning of AC Milan's famous league winning comeback.

If a loss could really hurt Roma's chances of achieving their grand pre-season objectives, a win would obviously confirm the Serie A champs devastating force and consequent chances to achieve a historic back to back league win , and a convincing Champions League performance.

FORM GUIDE

Lazio Last Six Matches: LDLDWW

You have to go back all the way to November to witness such a good moment of form for the Laziali. But these games won against Venezia and Atalanta were more a remedy against relegation fears than European boosters. Can they make it three in a row against a solid Roma side who have not lost since September (between Serie A & CL – excluding the meaningless Coppa Italia).

Roma Last Six Matches: DDDWWD

If the yellow and reds have the huge quality of hardly ever losing matches, they also have a big problem…They have an extremely hard time winning them, even when they play extremely well such as last week in Lecce - not a good thing when games allocate three points to the winning side.

LATEST TEAM NEWS

Hype… A great idea for Sergio Cragnotti to fill in Lazio's empty bank accounts: why not clone Alessandro Nesta? It becomes an increasingly interesting option as Portuguese watchdog Fernando Couto might be out to put Lazio's defence in a emergency situation as under-fire Sinisa Mihajlovic is Zaccheroni's only other available central defender. A back injury might block the Portugal defender, who has to take last-minute tests to be part of the derby. Influential midfielder Diego Pablo Simeone was rumoured to come back soon but he is still definitely sidelined for Sunday night. Paolo *****, who scored a daft own goal in the first round of Serie A matches, is also out.

The only Roma player in doubt for Sunday night's monumental clash is the Brazilian Puma- Emerson, who still not been able to fare in the derby since he arrived in Rome two summers ago. If the former Bayer Leverkusen star will have to forfeit his presence, Lima is set to replace him in the middle of the Roma midfield. In defence Capello is expected to field the three man line composed by Zebina, Samuel, and Panucci, while on offence Batistuta will play next to Delvecchio and in-front of skipper Francesco Totti, meaning the Aeroplane Montella will stay grounded at kick-off.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Francesco Totti-Roma's Roman skipper always loves to play against his eternal foes, and has often been crucial in setting up his team's derby triumphs.

As a direct opponent, Alessandro Nesta will be under constant scrutiny as he is linked with a move away from Lazio – again. Juve have emerged as a new contender for the strong Italy defender. But Real's dismal Centenario match against Depor hints that Florentino Perez needs a new defender. Or a totally new defence.

KEY BATTLES

With the Lazio defence switched on "experimental" mode, Marco Delvecchio has a point to prove to Fabio Capello. His pace and destructive motivation should – again – be vital for Roma in this derby. The likes of Dino Baggio or Beppe Pancaro look slow and numb in comparison, but has Supermarco the right stuff to make it again at top levels? His season has been dogged by injuries and poor form. He needs to bounce back.

PROBABLE LINEUPS

LAZIO: 4-4-2 – Peruzzi, Dino Baggio, Nesta, Fernando Couto, Pancaro, Poborsky, Giannichedda, Fiore, Stankovic, Crespo, Simone Inzaghi.
ROMA: 3-4-1-2 - Antonioli, Zebina, Samuel, Panucci, Cafu, Emerson, Tommasi,
Candela, Totti, Batistuta, Delvecchio.

SA PREDICTION

Roma too cautious, Lazio too shaky. Not a very easy prediction to make. It could be like Inter-Milan: just one goal, scored in bizarre fashio. Totti volunteered. Will he make it? 1-0 to Roma.
